Julie & Brian's Disneyland Wedding (9/2011) Sleeping Beauty Theme

Also purchased a couple of items for moi. I found the Sleeping Beauty earrings I was hoping for on weddingish. It seems like they disappeared from everywhere else, so we will see. I called them yesterday to check on the order, they asked what it was and said that it should be arriving next week. :confused3

My fingers are crossed though! I do think they are beautiful!

I also purchased some more rhinestone transfers to start making hoodies for the day of and also for the Honeymoon. I got a black and a white yoga hoodie from Kohls. Will post pics after I finish them.

Went to Michael's and found a hot fix rhinestone device. After reading about all the DIY things, being a lover of all things bling I felt I needed one. Not sure what for just yet, but I'm sure I will think of something. Won't be as elaborate as Amanda's shoe project! That takes too much patience!!

Started gathering the goodies for the bridesmaids also! (We have added 2 more btw) Originally I had asked Brian's cousin who was like a little sister to me. She started being more distant, and when I asked she didn't want to take part or come at all (when we had the original date). As it turns out she eloped on a cruise ship with her bf around the same time as our wedding would have been. She wants to be on board now and I can't un-ask someone. Also, my BM who was pregnant and is due a week or so after the wedding really wants to take part. We already replaced her, but found a VERY similar dress at Alfred Angelo so she is going to purchase it and we will now have 2 pink, 2 green and 3 blue! Whew! Glad things are falling in place.

Here are a few things I got for the girls. We are all sleeping in a suite the night before. Doing a play in the park, spa day thing, rehearsal dinner, then the pool/jacuzzi. I thought it would be fun aside from the matching shirts to get some skater socks in our wedding colors. Also, I love the rose loofa things from bath & body works, they fit the theme. Also got mini sanitizers that match the color of the dresses.

Oh and a Yankee candle votive "wedding day" fragrance. It smells nice in the bag and they can think of me when they light it! ;) I am having a hard time with finding a gift for my lil ring bearer, he is home schooled and doesn't seem to have a favorite character. He shares a room with his little sister and I am so lost! He is three, what do three year olds like? We are giving him the bubble wand machine thing after the wedding, but any suggestions?

I also purchased the memorial candle holder that I saw online. Got it from a seller on amazon for 18 bucks, which I thought was super reasonable considering I had seen it for 35! It is much larger than I anticipated, I will have to go in search of the perfect pillar candle. Not sure what color just yet. Would Gold be too much? Here is the base:

new002.jpg

(Please forgive the dark not recently vacuumed carpet  )

Lastly, I finally found Chinese take out boxes that were perfect and the price was great. We got 100 pink and 100 blue in a size that is decent. I think 3 1/2 inches by 3? Metal handles and they were from a place online I hadn't heard of before, www.cudge.net I received 100 for under 20 bucks! They came ready assembled and it was a big relief to have them in hand. I can't wait to use Dolly's design to make stickers to stick on them.

DF and I almost have the candy finalized. Does anyone know how long it lasts? If I were to purchase Easter candy and not open the bag, would it last 3 months for the shower? I am assuming that 5 months would be too long. Any help?

Hey!!
Everything looks great!!! And those earrings are amazing!!!!
What time is your crystal palace ADR on 10/1? We are going for breakfast that day! :)

LOVE LOVE LOVE everything!!! I'm all caught up and loving all the new updates!!

I really love the candy buffet labels that Dolly did for you, I'm also having a candy table so she did some for me as well, she is so good to all of us DISBRIDES!!

If you don't have the patience to do shoes similar to mine, here are a few ideas that include enough bling just not covering evering little inch and space of the shoe.

cinderella__3_edit.jpg

For this shoes if you wanted it laid out perfectly you can take a think sharpir and dot every where you wanted a crystal before you started putting them on.

Hope a few of these pictures will help you with any idea similar to mine by with less time and crystals:goodvibes

Can't wait to see what you decide!!

Most candy should be fine after 3 months and even 5 months. Here is some research that I found:

This was a post that I found from someone whose father was in the candy business. It all depends on how you store it, heat is a killer.

The softer the candy, the shorter the shelf life, ever had a hard caramel??

Here's a generalized idea on candy shelf life:

BUBBLE GUM - Most gum such as Bubble Yum or Bubblicious Bubble Gum is good for anywhere from four (4) to six (6) months and this guideline applies to regular gums such as Chiclets, Dentyne, Trident, et al

CANDY BARS - The average shelf for a chocolate candy bar is anywhere up to six (6) months, however, certain candies such as Necco Wafers, Smarties, Starburst Fruit Chews or Nerds can last considerably longer due to their consistency.

GUMMI CANDY - Most gummi candies such as gummi bears, peachy penguins, strawberry puffs, etc are good for up to (six) months although they will diminish in quality if exposed high temperatures.

JELLY BELLY JELLY BEANS - The manufacturer suggests that the shelf life for Jelly Bellies is up to eight (8) months.

JORDAN ALMONDS (CONFETTI) - We are frequently asked about Jordan Almonds as they are often purchased in advance to be used for celebratory events such as anniversaries, baby showers or weddings.

Although the shelf life is said to be up to five (5) months, we suggest that you do not hold them for longer than two (2) to three (3) months to ensure that they are absolutely fresh.

LOLLIPOPS - Most lollipops have a long shelf life but it is important to remember that exposure to high temperatures can cause the candy to permanently stick to the wrappers.

Although most lollipops can last up to six (6) months, it is important that they are stored in cool environments.

M&M's ® CHOCOLATE CANDIES - According to the manufacturer, the life span of M&M's ® is up to thirteen (13) months providing that it remains in it's factory sealed package and not exposed to heat.

NOVELTY CANDY - Most novelties candies are nothing more than candy such as bubble gum or dextrose encased in a plastic outer shell. The life span of most novelty candies is six (6) to eight (8) months and depends on the type of candy chosen.

UNWRAPPED BULK CANDY - Most unwrapped bulk candies remains fresh for five (5) to six (6) months, however, certain items such as Candy Roll Wafers, Runts,Rock Candy Strings and Candy Blocks will last longer due to their consistency.

Candies such as Good & Plenty, Licorice, Mexican Hats or Red Dollars tend to taste better when fresh and we suggest that you store them for no longer than two (2) months.

Chocolate candies such as Bridge Mix, Chocolate Pretzels, Double Dipped Chocolate Peanuts or Malted Milk Balls tend to have a shorter shelf life and this applies to any candy that has peanuts as one of the ingredients,

WRAPPED BULK CANDY - Most wrapped bulk candy remains fresh for five (5) to six (six) months especially if it is a hard candy such as a Butterscotch Disk, Starlight Mint or Root Beer Barrel.

Softer candies such as Caramel Creams or Brach's Royals have a shorter shelf life due to their consistency.

Certain candies such as Anise Squares, Brach's Ice Blue Mints, Jolly Ranchers or Sour Balls have a much longer shelf life and are ideal for long term use.

Hope that helps with your candy buffet purchases!

Awww sugar, thank you so much for thinking of me! I do love that dress, but I am afraid it is not a good fit for my body, I have really big hips so I need something that is tight at the waist and then free and poofy at the bottom. ;) I wish I had the figure to rock that dress, I would totally do it. Simple is nice! Thanks again!! :)

Girlie, I gots me some hips too! lol. You'd be surprised what looks good sometimes. But thanks! Or talk to AA and see if they can change it.. they make the dress custom to you.. so you may be able to change it the way you'd like. :confused3

And after reading the rest of your update.. I'm in LOVE and can't wait to see how you're wedding day turns out! =] =]

I agree about the hotfix tool.. but luckily.. my aunt has one and can get me crystals at wholesale pricing! Yay for seamstress aunts! ;D Can't wait to see how your DIY bling turns out. BTW, where did you get the yoga hoodie??

Everything looks so good! Glad youve had time to have some things come together.

I have ressies at 1900 so I'll let you know how that one is. That is my ADR i am most excited about as it heard the characters are hillarious and very interactive.

The earings are gorgous and I love the boxes and "I DO" (once theyre painted!)

I got around to posting some of the engagement photos from DL if you wanted to see :)

You are so sweet, thank you! I love all of your plans also. In fact the post about your candy buffet inspired me to contact Dolly. She is amazing to us! ;) The designs for yours are wonderful! I can't wait to see pictures from the big day when everything comes together!

I really appreciate you posting the great shoe options! I recently found some on www.myglasslipper.com They are Benjamin Adams, but a little pricey. I may just stick with the shoes I initially purchased. Thank you so much hun!!:flower3:

The idea of placing a sharpie mark where you place the crystals is really smart! Thanks for the tip!:thumbsup2

Dolly, this is a wonderful resource! A great list to help us decide when to purchase what. I know hershey kisses aren't bars as such, but they are simply chocolate so according to the list if stored in a cool dry place they should last until the wedding! Hooray! I am so excited to purchase some of the items now! Thanks for the help Dolly!!

Thanks hun! I hope it turns out the way I am dreaming. Everyone keeps telling me that no wedding day is perfect and to prepare for things to go wrong, grr!

You are so sweet! I didn't know they would alter a dress, that is amazing! I had heard that flagship stores did it, but I couldn't find any info on where to find one, etc. I am planning on going in next month, so I will ask! Thanks again! Here is where I got the hoodies.

Nice! It must be nice having a seamstress in the fam! ;) I so want to go back to school for that one of these days.

Thank you, yes the gift of time has been so amazing! Things are starting to fall together, but there is so much to do still and I am so worried that time is going by too quickly!

OOh I am excited for you! Are you doing Breakfast or Dinner at 1900? I wish they had Mary Poppins and Penguins instead of Alice there for Breakfast, but c'est la vie!

I just checked out your e-pics and they are wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing them. I can't wait to see your wedding pics! You two are an absolutely stunning couple!

Yes, it does suck about Etsy revamping that section, but I will figure something out.

No dress as of yet, going to a shop hopefully next week to look at the Disney Cinderella dress. I know I am cutting it close with the dress issue and it is driving me crazy!!

Right now we are looking at wedding bands and I am going to see our friend who owns a salon. She has offered to do my wedding day hair as a gift! I am so excited, I am thinking about getting extensions so my hair will still be down to my waist while being curled. I don't know who I am going to hire to do my hair at 5:30 the day after for the photoshoot! :scared1:

The floral is still being figured out by Disney, but we sent a powerpoint to our contact and she seemed to like it. I really like this for the bridal bouquet:

floral.jpg

Light pink and white roses only, with crystal and pearl accents.

DF saw the small centerpieces at the bridal show and he REALLY prefers them to the candelabras I chose. I may cave on that, especially if it is a huge price difference. Right now it is 2,000 for the candelabras and floral, I am hoping the others will only be around 750, then I will agree 100% ;)

Figuring out which candy we are purchasing and coming up with themed names. Next week I also want to work with Impressions and order our table name signs and work on the invites...so yeah craziness!

Can't wait to have a DISmeet with you!! My Aurora kindred spirit!

8:25! I'll just stall until you get there :rolleyes1
We had to be at MK for the 40th  I hope we get to meet up!!!!

Awesome! We did too, Crystal Palace was 2nd on my list of must dine restaurants, we figured if we got Cindy's out of the way, then if there happens to be any impromptu 40th celebration, we will ditch it and go check it out, LOL. I doubt they will tho, since nothing seems to be celebrated since the merge of the parks. I will FB you my cell and we text and plan on meeting up! YAY, Can't wait to get a pic with my WT (wedding twin)! ;)

Just took three days to read up to here but I love it. I am already married (15 years this Oct) and hope to do a vow renewal for our 20-25th. I love looking at at the ideas from the DIS boards. Everything is beautiful. I have never read a Disneyland wedding so I'm excited to read see yours. I have never been to DL.

Gosh, I'm gone for only a week and I missed so much! Sounds like things are coming together! If you need a dress shopping buddy, let me know .... :rolleyes1 I still need to find one and now that the cruise is done I'm jumping into wedding planning! :scared1:

Yay for our picture!!!!

Wow, I feel honoured that you took the time to read through my PJ! Wow, I can't wait to get to say I have been married to my love for 15 years. Congratulations on your vow renewal!! Autumn is a magical time for weddings/vow renewals. There are a lot of good ideas on the DISboards, I don't know where I would be without everyone's creativity!! I am so glad that you are interested in a DL wedding, I always adore those at WDW, but it was too far from home. If you love WDW and have never been to DL, I say put it on your bucket list. I have had many guests at the park (when I worked there) that had only been to WDW. The castle is MUCH smaller. In fact one guest asked where the other castles were, LOL. It is also really neat to see the nostalgia and the fingerprints of Walt Disney himself as this was where he worked and sometimes lived. :)
