Well, now my friend wants to go, so are the seahorses cute? :D maggie

They are adorable! I only have seen three of them but my kids and mom went this weekend and saw all of them. If you have never been to Solomons it is a great place to go and you can do it in a day. They have a nice little musuem caled Calvert Marine Musuem that is a lot of fun for kids and has one seahorse their named arty that will be auction off in October. They also have a fun kids room, lighthouse, boat ride, touch tank and 2 very silly sea otters that my kids believe our theirs. The seahorses are all lined up on the boardwalk which is on the main street. The "island" is very small and you can't miss any of them. Then they have some cute shops ( a little $$$ but cute) and a few nice seafood resturants. It really is only about 1 1/2 hours from you and a very easy drive. Do a search for Solomons Island Maryland of Calvert Marine. There is a lot to do their but the musuem is quick and fun and then a nice walk on the boardwalk through the shops would be a fun day.

P.S If you crossover the main bridge it will lead you to St. Mary's County and a fablous Target about 2 miles down at the light take a left!! This is the one I like to go to after Christmas. Never picked over!!!;)

Let me know if you go. I'll be in O.C. till Monday night! Have Fun!!!

Oh and I forgot. My dad is so in love with the seahorse I have been looking for small plaster a paris ones that my kids could paint for him. I have called a few paint your own potter places but no luck yet! Let me know if you can think of any other places to find them.

How old is the museum in Solomon's. I lived in Calvert & St. Mary's counties in the early 90's and I don't remember it. They used to have some great seafood restaurants and an awesome BBQ place. Another great restaurant is Evan's over in St. Mary's county.

I can't believe there is a Target in St. Mary's county. The people had a fit years ago when Wal-Mart was trying to move in.

Oh Erika how it has changed!!! My parents are just weekenders and bought their place in Lusby about 15 years ago and like you said there was nothing but... a few years ago most of Crystal City moved down around the Pax River base. (Lochead Martin. Bowing, etc...) The had to keep up with all of the new business. It is amazing how much St.Mary's has chaged. Still very small town for me to live there but still friendly and beautiful.

The musuem is right before the bridge over to St.Mary's. It has been there for awhile. It backs up to the back creek where the light house is. Right before the "island" part they even got a McDonald's and Food Lion which was unheard of when we bought there. You really shoud drive out and see all the changes!

ah, a target too. I'm all over this trip tomorrow. :D thanks for the info on the seahorses. kate can't wait to see them! Now I suppose I'll have to find seahorse stickers for the scrapbook pages eh? :D maggie

OOps I goofed I just talked to my mom. The seahorses are all up and down RT 4 She said the first one they found was at the Library/Info center. I would do a search on Calvert County to get the whole listing. My mom named where all of them are but you'll need more details. If you do get a good list let me know because Nicholas wants to know all of the names of the ones they saw. I'm packing for the beach as we speak

Oh but doesn't sizzix have a seahorse die cut. Oh I'm picturing the layout now.

Have Fun!!
