Julia & I are REALLY mad!!!

The My Twinn doll catalog came today and she just fell in love with the idea - a doll that looks like her - since she spends all day looking in the mirror anyway I thought this would be great - and we would always have a little piece of her as a little girl!!!

So we open up the catalog - and you are not going to believe this -

NO CURLY HAIR!!! Not online either!!!!

even the little african american girl in the catalog has fine straight hair - what? I thought at least I could order that on a white doll - nope no curly hair anywhere!!

has anyone ever ordered these with curly hair?

DD's My Twinn doll has curly hair. If you read their site again, it just says "hair length", not "curly or straight". And in all honesty, adding a 'curl style' would make that same order page very unwieldy. Think of how many ways hair can be curly and then do that for *every* hair length. And some hair, like DD#2, is only curly on the ends... Add those styles in too.

They style the doll to look like your child, so if you send a picture with curly hair, I assume you would get a curly haired doll (like we have).

You should send them an email and ask.

I'm sure you have the same struggle as me - as beautiful as Julia's hair is and as much as people oh and ah over it - she still wants me to straighten her hair sometimes!! There being no curly haired girls in this catalog - led her to say to me - "see mommy - I need straight hair!"

Of course DD hates it because it's always so full of snarls. Twice she has gone to a stylist and had it straightened with just a blowdryer and she literally looks like a different girl. While she liked it, she didn't like to sit there for the 45 minutes it takes to do it.

her hair looks JUST like Julias!! My DH is adopted and now some people ask if we think he has some sort of African American roots!! So I know what you mean!

I have straightened her hair and it is totally different when it is straight!! She hates sitting still for it too!!

DH stayed home from our last WDW trip and Mary Poppins asked the inevitable - where did you get your curly hair - and Julia stunned us all by saying "from my daddy - he is at work making money so I can be at Disney World!!" I have never seen someone laugh as hard as Mary did! and my DH is happy to now know his purpose in life!!

Gee, I'm not a very good Grandma--I didn't know about these dolls. Good luck, Kate, in finding a doll with curly hair! My oldest DD had hair like that when she was very young but by the time she reached grade school it had straightened out. She was happy--I was sad!

lol that's funny. DD says "I get my curly hair from Daddy". Of course, I keep it super super short because it'd really curly on me too, so everyone looks at me with dubious eyes. DD also proclaims that mommy and gramma have to pay for their curls. We tell everyone that when DD grows up, we'll need three savings accounts for her - a college fund, a wedding fund, and a hair straightening fund - cause we're SURE she's gonna hate it when older.
