January 2:
Ten Days to go.....

OK wait. What happened? Didn't we just have like, ohh, a month or so to go? Now it's NEXT WEEK? How did this happen?? Wait! I'm not ready! :scared:

OK, breathe. Yes, I'm ready. :goodvibes I'm as ready as I'll ever be.

Last year I did not miss a single day of MFM training. This year I have missed six. I know that doesn't really make a difference physically. What I'm afraid of it what it is doing to my self confidence. My goal this year is to just come in better than last year. Even if it is just by a minute I'll be happy. Of course if I come in sub 3 I'll be ecstatic! But I'm not setting my hopes that high. (Uh hu.) :rolleyes1

Last year I had no idea what it would be like. I think that was both a pro and a con. This year I do know what it's like. I also think that is both a pro and a con. I know exactly what I'm getting into, what I'm up against. So I know I can do it. I also now know how hard it is. I know where I struggled and I am mentally prepared to get thru that long stretch by the GF. That is where I suffered. But this year I am prepared with my "relentless forward motion" mantra and I WILL get thru it. I am determined. :woohoo:

Through all my training for this event I have been ending my miles with increasing speed. Saving the best for last. This is also the strategy I am going to use in the race. An easy pace for the first half, then around mile 7 or so, start pushing things just a bit, saving the big push for the end. :thumbsup2

Alright, OK, let's get this show on the road. I'm ready. :yay: Let's get moving!

But first, I have about 873 things to do before we leave. Yeah, let me get going with that first.

For the next ten days:
Hydrate
Fuel
Rest
Avoid injury and sick people.

Good luck, Judy! I will be there with my WISH shirt near the Poly just to cheer you on. (And if you're not too fast I may catch you again at the finish)You can do it.......you rock, girl!

Woohoo! Judy, I can't wait to share your joy at the FinISH! Of course, you can count on seeing us on Main Street and at the entrance to EPCOT, same as last year! You'll be awesome!!!  :cool1:

January 3rd:

I am in such a foul mood even I can't stand myself.

OMG what a bad mood I am in. Cranky and irritable doesn't even begin to describe it. I'm not sure this is all taper related. I think it may also be that all the idiots are back at work and driving me crazy. My poor husband is like this....:duck: :tiptoe: I think he's afraid I'm going to go ballistic. Of course, tapering doesn't seem to be effecting him at all. He still goes along his merry way, cutting back on his mileage, looking forward to his race. Which just ticks me off! :headache:

OK, sorry. Told you I was foul today.

:sad2:

I even thought last night - for the first time ever - that maybe I should just sit this one out. I'm not really well trained. I missed too many days. I'm not ready. :guilty: But OMG I really don't want to miss it!

I'm a mess. I need to find something to do to take my mind off things. :rolleyes1

Thank you everyone for your responses! :goodvibes That was so nice to come back and find all of your posts. :cloud9: Swim-mom, you should come over to our Events/Competition Forum on the WISH Board. We have a weekly thread there for people at all stages of training. It's a great place!

OK, let me try to concentrate on work. Yea, like THAT's gonna happen! :yay:

Judy -- Please be reassured that what you are going through is SOOOO NORMAL!!! (a first for you, huh? :lmao: ) Sorry, you know I LOVE YOU!!!! Seriously, though, what you are experiencing is normal taper feelings -- everythign from self-doubt to sleepiness to crankiness to the need to get out there and RUN, RUN, RUN!!! Don't do it!!! Find another way to get that endorphin fix!!! (nudge, nudge, wink, wink, do I really need to tell a virtual newlywed all the other things you can be doing with all the extra time you have on your hands?)

Okay, I'll clean this up a bit. You CAN do this. You HAVE done this before. This year was about maintaining your base of fitness. If you did nothing more than that, you'd be fine. You are actually so much stronger than you were a year ago, even if you don't think so. You will be fine. Once the adrenaline kicks in and you are at race day, you will be fine. I PROMISE!!! So, just go and get it done and scream team for some of the rest of us misguided idiots (& goofy's) on Sunday and THEN we'll PARTY!!! party:

Judy, Judy, Judy.....calm down, take a deep breath, pour yourself a nice strong Margarita and down it. Repeat as many times as necessary.

You will do just fine. We all will. The WISH green is going to carry you through any tough parts. Just go out and have fun. You WILL do this!

Cam! Jeanne! OMG I love you guys! I now have tears in my eyes (and non-waterproof mascara!)

I'd just to get going. One minute I'm all "OK, forget it I'm not ready. I'm not doing it." The next minute I'm all like "Yeah! Let's go! Bring it on!"

So, basically, what I'm saying is....I'm fairly psychotic right now.

January 4th:

Ahhh, today is a much better day. I did three miles this morning and GEEZ what a difference!!! :teeth:

I've been hydrating well, but I could back off on the eats a bit. I mean really, how much pizza does one girl need for dinner?

Still lots of packing to do, but will do that over the weekend. ;)

I WISH we were already there. I'm so ready to do this! Come on! Let's get going!!! :yay:
