What grade are you going into?
In Colorado we call it Middle School grades 7-8
For me it was really easy. I am in highschool so I would say
enjoy the time you have in JR.H because it gets really hard in H.S.
You will do fine at tryouts. It is good to get involved rightr away then
you meet more and more people and you will have a lot of friends !!!!!

Hello, I am the mother of a 13 year old girl who is in 7th grade, I can't speak for her as far as Jr High being cool. But I am a cheerleading coach and certified UCA cheer judge, one of the biggest things I look for when a girl is trying out is her smile. Smile big all the time, even during practices leadig up to tryouts smile alot, and never say "I can't" judges and coaches hate those words.
Sharp motions, point your toes in jumps and finish everything clean, don't forget to show your spirit, but don't just yell wooohoooo, say words like go name of school or mascot
be friendly, you will do just fine. Best wishes to you.

Ya!!! Your back! Did they like their arrival gifts? I can't wait to hear how everything went!

Hi

I am going to move this over to the teen board for you

middle school/junior high is typically tougher on rules than highschool is.

I love highschool.

I hated junior high.

Cheerleading. I hate to stereotype, but you're probably a preppy person.

I'll I can say is High school's better. Way better.

uh. i love my middle school. it's 6-8. and i absolutly love it. the teachers are amazing. the kids in my grade are amazing. and i mean it gets old during the year after awhile but what school doesn't?

we don't have cheerleading at MS. soo. no idea.

Some schools here are 7-8 for Middle. Some 5-8. Others 6-8. I was lucky enough to go to a school with 5-8 Middle School. I was scared. But its just like school except you're "older", maturing more and more. Don't be worried. Yeah you're probally the youngest at the school but don't worry, 8th graders don't steal your milk money like they did when you were in 1st grade! ;) They may take your lunch though! :p lol. But you'll be fine. Once you have the first week under your belt, you'll be ok. Promise. And(I assume 7th?)7th grade will fly bby. Before you know it, you'll be an 8th grader taking 7th graders lunches!:) :rotfl:

As for cheerleading, sorry. No advice here.

Haha...around here...Junior high is 7-9, but 9th is still considered highschool..

Weirdness.

As for cheerleading, don't act like a snob, be nice, and do everything as best as you can.

Good luck. I am sure you will do fine though. IF you make the cheerleading squad, you should become pretty popular and make a lot of friends---just dont be snobby and stuck up, and be sure to include everyone!

I started high school this year--and it has been an interesting experience..

Work hard, study, but most of all make good friends and hang out with them on the weekends.
And dont be too focused on boys right now. That will come later in 8th grade and HS. Focus on making friends that will last you a lifetime.

I am in 6th grade and last year I was pretty freaked out about rumors. The rumors were like bullying. It is cool though. Specialy because me being 4' 7"
tall I am like the 3rd shortest kid in the grade. So for me to be short and 1 of the best kids on our middle school b-ball team! Is so cool!

I have always done it:
Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th = Elementary
6th, 7th, 8th = Middle
9th, 10th, 11th, 12th = High

middle school is no sweat. its natural to be freaking out and worried but once you start its fine. its just like every other year but you switch classes. it's going to be FUN :hippie:

I liked 5th and 6th grade (we start middle school in 5th), but 7th and 8th grade was awful. But that's just me, and mostly because I had a really rough group of friends with me, and because our grade is known to be one of the worst (won't describe all the reasons why) in our school district. So it was a weird transition period for me. But the whole process of going into jr. high is really cool. You feel really special :)

Junior High is the worst for stereotypes and for cliques...while High School is the worst for drama. Just try not to dwell on what wrong happens -- things may seem monumental for you now, but after you leave the things will seem pety and silly.

While your grades in Junior High don't count towards a transcript yet, it is important to focus on achieving high standards. You want to be good and ready for High School so that you can put together a good resume for colleges so that you have a bright future ahead of you. Junior High is in preperation to High School so it's important to start establishing your own set of regulations. What I mean by that is, adjust yourself to your schedule and how much time you should spend on your homework. But make sure to manage time well enough to hang out with your friends and be social. It is important to be social in these years. It is GREAT that you are already looking to join cheerleading. It gives you something to keep active, social, and involved with your school.

Make sure not to over stress yourself. Consider projects and work in time limits. Don't tell yourself you have "x" amount of projects due or homework -- just work on it when you can and things will fall into place. Junior High is stressful enough where you don't need to over work yourself.

Find yourself. Decide what kind of person you are and what really interests you. You begin to adjust your personality to where you want it to be - to what people you will hang out with and what subjects you enjoy more. Even though you may think you know your interests, you never stop changing your mind. I am stilling making my mind up about things and I'm in 12 grade...almost in college.

I remember the most important thing to me in Junior High were my friends. I was so fixed on being social that I left my grades out there to rot. I was able to pick myself up in High School and maintain straight A's, but it's important to balance your friends with your work. It is during these years that you truly develope as a student.

Also...you'll be FINE! You WILL survive junior high lol. It will also go by so quickly. Cherish these years for you won't get them again. ;)

Plus -- I think high school is way more cool than junior high. I hated junior high. So just think about what you have to look forward to!! :thumbsup2

It's kinda easy.....Not right now though. Right now the teachers are preparing you for 8th grade. It can't be that bad, right? ...

Middle school is no sweat! Sure at first it takes some getting used to, but after a week or two it's no sweat! You'll enjoy it! PM me for the bolded part. At my school middle school is 6-8 and you can't do cheerleading until 8 so...
