TLC has filmed her birth. It will be on Sun, 1/31, 8pm est. (For those that don't know, she was born at around 25 weeks at 1# 6oz. Michelle (Mom) had pre-eclampsia.)

I have been wondering how she is doing. I haven't heard anything since Christmas.

Thank you for posting this, I've also been wondering how the baby is doing and haven't heard a thing...they've been so quiet.

If this is true and they air it, then TLC is disgiusting and I am equally disgusted with the Duggars for allowing it. There is no way anyone can say they aren't in this for money and fame and filming this birth and airing it is the proof :sad2:

I do wish Josie well and hope she is imporoving and growing stronger everyday.

I think it it all in the way you view things in life..I don't think it was a bad move on anyone's part ..sure there was things that happened out of peoples hands...you can't expect every birth to be perfect and not film it or air or pretend her birth didn't happen b/c this one wasn't perfect...and if something does happened to her the duggers may feel this is a way to preserve her memory..

I hope she is doing very well and that she lives a very long and happy life..:goodvibes

Funny you post this as I was just thinking about them this morning and wondering how she was doing. Has there been any word on her condition? Is she home now?

I don't think she home since there is no sign out by the road of their house yet..they always put a sign up for people to know that they have another kid when they get home ...mostly an indication they are home for people to stop by...

My hubby works down the road form their house..

She will probably come home around her due date or when she is over 5 lbs and eating/gaining weight and doesn't have any breathing issues/episodes while she's eating.

I've had 2 kids preemies (one at 30 weeks) and that was kind of the rule of thumb...thriving, 5 lbs, and good breathing.

Now that's not to say that if she won't have long term issues she may stay longer.

More than likely it will be close to whenever her due date was.

Preserve her memory for who, the TLC viewers? I have no problem with filming the birth of your child for yourself and your memories, I have a problem with airing that on TV to make a buck. I'm not naive enough to believe that TLC is just helping the Duggar's here, they are doing this show for ratings and I'm not naive enough to think that the Duggars don't want it aired for the exact same reasons. The airing of this birth is the very definition of exploitation and it is disgusting.

Frankly, I admire them for showing the bad with the good. How hypocritical to only show the perfect. Life isn't like that.

Then don't watch. :confused3 I like the Duggars (even though Jim Bob still freaks me out) and as long as she's doing ok I don't see anything wrong with airing the footage.

I don't recall saying I was going to, just sharing my opinion about the fact that TLC and this family continue to exploit themselves :confused3

She was a 25 week baby. Best case scenario, she will be home in March or April. And that is if everything goes absolutely perfectly. More than likely, there will be bumps and setbacks along the way. Worst case scenario, she could be there for close to a year or even longer. Actually, the worst case is that she would never leave the hospital alive. 50% of 25 weekers don't. :sad1:

Odds of a Premature Baby's Survival by Length of Pregnancy

Length of Pregnancy Likelihood of Survival
23 weeks 17%
24 weeks 39%
25 weeks 50%
26 weeks 80%
27 weeks 90%
28-31 weeks 90-95%
32-33 weeks 95%
34+ weeks Almost as likely as a full-term baby

ETA - I hope she is doing well. Maybe no news is good news.

I agree with both of you..I know I don't want to just see the good all the time and pretend that bad never happens ..this is showing that they are human ..Like I said it is in the way you view life...I am viewing this as it is life happens and they wanted to share life....

This is really all I can find. Nothing really official.

The Duggar Family has announced that the show, 18 Kids and Counting, was put on the hold as the youngest Duggar, Josie Brooklyn is at the NICU at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. This decision will be for the next two weeks while the youngster gets stronger and completes qualifications so the child can be taken home.

The blog posting reads in full:

TLC's popular show featuring the Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar Family has been put on hold. According to TLC's program schedule, there will be no new 18 Kids and Counting episodes for at least two weeks. Josie Brooklyn remains in the NICU at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where her family visits her often. There have been few news updates on Josie's progress, but Duggar fans everywhere hope to be filled in soon. In the meantime, TLC continues to play reruns of "18 Kids and Counting" and "17 Kids and Counting" nearly every day. - January 16, 2010.

Being that it airs on TLC, such a show would be fitting with the "learning" aspect of the network. Where did you find the info, OP?

So stop quoting me, because when you do that it is typically meant to respond to my specific posts. If you don't want to continue to discuss it, don't use the quote feature ;)
Oh and BTW, this is a post about TLC airing this birth, all opinions welcome :)

yeah but you have stated your opinion several times now..when is it enough? the only reason I quoted was to let you know that some people don't care to have one person's opinion said over and over and over...

see that is why so many people into squabbles on here is b/c some people try their best to turn other in thinking the same as they do ..instead post your opinion and be done with it...

plus I didn't quote your opinion you quoted mine....

the latest I found published, was that the Duggars are staying near the hospital. they moved the family to temporary housing around Christmas.

I agree. . The struggles of a tiny preemie should not be for entertainment and for lining the pockets of TLC.

I also fear Michelle will continue to get pregnant. It is pretty much the hook for the show. How many more premature births or miscarriages. Will you all watch the footage of Michelle almost dying? I know that is overly dramatic, but I don't see where this is going. I depise TLC mainly b/c I see their true colors from Jon and Kate. They are exploitation masters. I would not be a part of that.

I like the Duggars, I really do. I think they have turned down a bad path. I hope the ending is better than Jon and Kate.
