Jorge Cruise 3-hour diet - anyone doing it?

Those are my two favorite Pria's, the mint chocolate (#1 choice!) and then double chocolate. Having those for snacks keeps me going! :) I either get them at Wal-Mart, 77 cents each, or at Sam's, a pack of 24 for just over $12. The ones at Sam's have those peanut ones (in the orange wrappers) - I haven't tried those but I give them to DH to take to work for snacking. :goodvibes

Are you exercising?

Jennz,

Well  I am just starting to excercise. I start Week #3 today and I have just started excercising in the last couple of days. I do not do the Jorge Cruiese 8 Minute Moves. I have a 20 min Bowflex routine I do 3X a week and I try to walk for an hour every evening with DH. I am sure that will help with my next clippie quite a bit!

For anyone interested, I lost 6 lbs in the first 2 weeks without any  and I do mean any, excercise. Compared to Atkins, or Low Carb the weight loss does seem quite slow, but really 2 lbs a week is what is most healthy. Also, I did not have any of the withdrawl symptoms or anything that I had on Atkins. It really is a very easy diet to adopt.

What about you Jennz - how much excercise are you doing? :cheer2:

I am so tempted to try this but I have to say, I have been LC for so long, its hard to eat any other way. Its like second nature to me now......... and we all know alot of the LC foods tend to have lots of fat and calories........
However, the LC thing isnt really working for me.........
its very hard to back to eating things like bread, potatoes and pasta....... talk me into it! sounds easy and think I am due for a change!

wiskband - I went from Atkins straight to the 3-hour diet and DID NOT GAIN WEIGHT! I was very worried about the "low-carb rebound" you hear about but it didn't happen. I think it's because the meals are balanced - you're eating total carbs, it's balanced with the protein, fat, and fruit or veggie, so you don't get that sugar-spike. I'm so glad I changed! I still think "oh no that has too many carbs can't have it!" and then remind myself I can have ANYTHING in moderation. That's a very liberating feeling, and it's what makes this the ideal way to eat for me.

I think the keys are water (which you're probably already doing) and making sure you eat every 3 hours, then stopping at 7 (or 3 hours before bed).

Now I have to say I was surprised at how small a medium potato is :sad2: but that's okay, I'm having it again and now it doesn't seem so small and I don't want to gorge on it like I did before. Also like DVC Daisy said, I don't have any cravings. My tough part has to be stopping mindless snacking, the 3 hour spacing makes me aware of it, but there are not those cravings for things like I had before.

Give it a try! To me this just feels right and something I can live with . Let us know what you decide!! :goodvibes

So how strict is the 3-hour thing? I am thinking about how I eat now- it would be 6:30Bfst, 10:30S, 1:30Lch, 4:30S, 7:30Din ... but I want to eat with my family at 6:00... so would I skip the 4:30 snack, or how do you re-arrange? (And don't tell me to get up earlier... NO WAY!!)

I haven't bought the book, but from the sounds of it, I might be looking for it this weekend!

DVC Daisy - yes I have been exercising but - and this is kind of big - not aerobically. I have a problem with my foot and I just started walking today. For the past 4 weeks I've been doing the weight workouts in Bob Greene's book but that's it. For the most part I was sitting most of the day to stay off my foot. :guilty: Very depressing!! Anyway -I'm glad to say because of that I started staying off the scale and then measured my arms last week - I lost 1 inch off both arms!! :cheer2: So then of course I got on the scale...nasty thing! No change. I'm okay with that, clothes I wore last year (I can date them because I have them on in our WDW pictures! :teeth: ) are loose - woo hoo!

Do you like your bowflex? DH has wanted one forever and I think we're going to get one this weekend rather than both joining a gym.

Jennifer (Jennz - seems we have 2)

I LOVE the Bowflex. Very good for beginners. I am not sure how advance weight trainers would do on it, but we love it.

We ended up getting it for the same reason that you were thinking. Everyone in my family uses it and it was less than a 6 mo gym membership for the family. We got ours at Costco. We also have a treadmill and between those two there is not much you cannot do.

Got to go to work :sad2: but I will check back later.

kikipug - I think the key is to go no longer than 3 hours without eating so that your body is constantly getting fuel. Jorge says this keeps you from producing starvation hormones which in turn causes your body to store fat because it's not sure when the next meal is coming.

Here's what I do: b/fast between 6 -7:30, 100 cal snack around 9:30, lunch at 12, 100 cal snack at 3, dinner at 6 (because I want to eat with my family too! :goodvibes ) He also says to treat yourself to a 50 calorie something (hershey kiss or mini etc) either after dinner or up until 3 hours before bed. I skip that about 1/2 the time.

Deb - what kind of bowflex do you have? We saw one at the store - it's the sport and it's for $799. Maybe we'll have to visit Costco...DH just got a membership there through work and we haven't been yet.

Thanks - I'll have to check out the book this weekend...

Just have to add my 2 cents on the BowFlex... we have had one for 4 years... I hate it, and refuse to use it, but DH is the only person I know who has owned one for so long and it STILL isn't an overgrown 'clothes-rack'... he uses it faithfully. Our old one just got recalled, so they gave us trade in $ toward a new one... nice, but I still won't use it.... but that's just me.

Just wondering how if people are still using the 3 hour diet and how they like it. Saw a news special on the local news about this diet.

Have a Magical Disney Day!!
Linda

I saw this on the news last night and his whole piece of this is for you to learn how to eat regular foods without feeling like you are neglecting yourself. This is basically how I eat - I eat about every 3 hours once I sat down and looked at it. But I haven't read his book nor am I following any plan - I'm just eating sensibly and watching portions - which he also emphasized in his interview.

Good luck to you all who are on it.

I'm also curious to hear from anyone doing this plan. I have just bought the book and am reading it.

I went straight to his site as soon as I saw this post. It does make all the sense in the world! althoug, I am still concerned about eating carbs, I have tried to incorperate eating every 3 hours. This is not as easy as it sounds, not for me anyway. I am on the go and its hard to keep up with this. any one else finding this too? I am really bad at timing this, sometimes I go so many hours with out eating as much as I know its not a good thing. so any one have any success with this already. Maybe Ill give it another whirl!

I was just wondering about this as well. I did really well on Atkins but once I put a piece of bread in my mouth it was all over with. I have tried to get back on it but never last more than 2 weeks. I have not gained back all of my weight but I am close to it.

Would like some updates on the OP and others.

I'm still doing it and doing great. I DID go off during our vacation and gained back 6 pounds in 4 weeks, but I also ate and ate and ate. Now since I've been back on I've lost 11 pounds :cheer2: in 4 weeks, which is of course not as fast I want :rolleyes1 but I know that it's the best way to go, slow and steady. I take a snack with me, usually a Pria bar and then have fruit for my afternoon snack. Oh - I've also lost 9 inches! 1 of those was from my waist and 2 1/2 were from my abdomen area. I have been surprised at how little food it takes to fill me up, I guess that's because I've been adding the veggies so I'm not eating as much meat anymore, I think I'm actually down to one portion now. :) I still *love* those Lean Pockets for breakfast too!

I bought this book a couple of weeks ago and read the entire thing before I started the plan. This past Tuesday was only Day 1 and I am faithfully sticking to the eating plan, quite easily, in fact! I have shown no "on the scale" loss yet, but today, I am wearing a pair of shorts I could not wear a month ago! :cool1: That is enough to keep me motivated and continue on! Hopefully, DH will enjoy taking a skinny Mommy to WDW in a few weeks!

I'll bet I could adapt this calorie counting plan to Atkins and do great. My biggest problem with Atkins is consuming too many "good carbs" and thus eating too many calories.

This is a precounted calorie counting plan. Sounds perfect :)

I, too, need my coffee :drinking1 asap after I get up in the morning, or else :headache: lasts all day long! On the 3-Hour plan, I have adapted myself to still enjoy my coffee, but it is now considered a "freebie" and I still have my full 400 calorie breakfast as well! Instead of half&half and sugar, I use Splenda sweetener and fat free half&half...Working out fine so far and no :headache: !!!!! Good luck! (P.S. I am "mommyrom"...DH still logged on computer when I wrote this post!)

Good question about the coffee...I know he stresses the importance of breakfast within an hour of waking up. But I would say the most important thing is making it work with your lifestyle so if it was me and I didn't want to eat for a while then count I would count it as a snack and maybe add a piece of fruit.

Mommyrom - how's it working for you??
