My cat is 17 today! I've had her since she was a 6 week old kitten. She's still pretty healthy and very socialable. Happy Birthday furbaby!
Who else has an older cat?

We have also had out kitty since she was 6 weeks old. She turned 19 last week! She's slower now, but still a sweetie. :cat:

Our cat is 18. He has thyroid problems and gets meds twice a day, but still kicking! Sleeps alot!!

My cats are brother and sister and they just turned 12. I love them both so much!!!!!

Our cats turn 12 this spring. We got them right after we got married...him first, then her a couple months later. Our boys love them as well. I hope we have them another 7-8 years...

I love my cats...

We have a cat that we adopted 12 years ago. They didn't really know how old she was, but they estimated between 5 and 6 years old.

She's our old lady. :)

We have a 17yo too! We actually lives with my mother. He didn't take well to the move to our new house 10 years ago but loves it at her house. I got him at about 6 weeks old too. This picture was taken on my cellphone a couple of years ago.

Our two cats turned 18 in February. One is a little less steady on his feet, but the other is just as fiesty as she was when she was a kitten.

Fergie turns 18 this summer. She's still spoiled and happy. She adjusted to "only cat" status without a problem!

My grandmother's cat is 24yo. She is toothless and slow now but even when she was 20 she still played like a kitten. She loves to be a lap cat.

Shadow is 19 now. Everytime we go away, I worry about her so much.

My parent's cat will be 18 years old, in the next month or so. We got her the beginning of Oct 1992, when she was about 4 months old. I was still in high school, so she was my cat for a couple years. My Dad still calls her my cat, even though, at this point, she is most definitely HIS cat.

The vet says she is doing remarkably well, and acts a few years younger than her age. She does have a couple issues. Her sense of taste/smell is going so she will only eat wet food now. And they have to change it every week or so because she will suddenly stop eating a certain type. But don't give it to her for a month or two, and she will eat it again. And she's not litter box reliable anymore. When my parents moved to FL, she went from a 3000 sq ft house to a 600 sq ft apartment, to a 3000 sq ft house when my parents sold their first house, and bought in FL. She, apparently, preferred the short walk to the litter box and is too "lazy" to walk far for one now. They took her to the vet, and after running a bunch of tests, that what he said...she's lazy. So now they have multiple boxes, but sometimes they have to lock her up in their master suite.

Our kitty is 12. As he's gotten older he has become so much more loveable! In the mornings when I sit in the recliner, he hears the footrest go up, and just comes running to climb up for pets and loves! I am glad to read on here how much older cats can get. I've never had a kitty this old before, and am glad to see he can have many more years ahead of him! :goodvibes

I do!!...my Simba will be 14 on August 1'st..and I've had her since she was 8 weeks old..she's still in great health and going strong
Happy Birthday to all the Elder Furbabies!

My two cats are both 12 this year. My oldest was actually born the day we got the keys to our current house and was born in another house on our street. They are both very healthy, behave very much still like young cats and hopefully will be around to the age that many cats on this thread have become.

Guinevere is 15 this year. Sometimes she still acts like a kitten. She was like a doting granny to my younger cats when they were kittens. Got her from a former boss when she was 3 months old.

Next oldest are Angel and Fluffy, who are 9. Had them since they were born.

Can you all tell me what you feed your long-living cats? I have a (relatively) new cat, she's a year and a half old, and I want her to live FOREVER! I am trying to read up on cat nutrition so I can make sure I'm feeding her what I should for optimum health/longevity. She was a stray who wandered into my life back when she was a kitten. I wasn't "in the market" for a kitten, per se, but I think she picked me... and I adore her. :lovestruc

My 12yr old seems young compared to a lot of your cats! Dh's friend found her in Navy housing - left behind by her previous family. That was 11 1/2 yrs ago and she was 6-8 months old at the time.

She has been all over this country with us (through 38 states!) - and is my DD9's BFF. Kitty is now on special food for some kidney issues - but her condition has improved (great news!). Vet says there's no reason she could live to 18 - LOL. DD9 wants her to live forever...
