Last May, both of Christian's beloved special ed teachers were given pink slips. Part of the massive downsizing in our county. School starts tomorrow and we just got a call from the teacher--and it's one of the teachers he has had for the last 3 years! Yay! Yay! They brought her back full-time. This woman is a saint. She's so great with the class. The other teacher decided to not sign a new contract, but she has agreed to sub when the other teacher can't be there. That's HUGE. Do you know how hard it is to find a substitute teacher for a class full of profoundly handicapped teens?

Awesome! Yes I do know. Whenever the teacher is out in our autistic classroom, there is usually never a sub. Teachers have to fill in on their conference period. I'm not trained to be in there and would much rather have someone trained and knowing the kids would have been a dream!

How wonderful! I teach special ed too, but I am with K-5th graders. It's so important for the kids to have some consistency, so I know how excited you must be. Have a great year!
