John McCain gave a classy speech last night.

he is such a class act. if obama has any sense, he will use mccain in his administration in some form. he has so much to offer this country. so close but yet so far. :sad2:

Yes he was a gracious and decent man.

Sadly the audience booing of the mention of Mr Obama spoiled it and your nation missed an opportunity to appear adult, educated and honourable.

I understand that emotions run high, but come on, is that what america does these days?.................Boos the man that wins......!!

Mr McCain 10/10 for class

Audience.........hmm 3/10 could do better.

This was in our version broadcast by the BBC

His speech was wonderful and I thought he was embarrassed by his supporters who boo'ed..no class...

I also got the feeling he was relieved it was over and he could distance himself from the negativity/vitrol his party presented. It may be wishful thinking but that is how I saw it.

Yes his speech was very nice. Nice to see a humanistic side to him. ;)

I agree. He was very gracious and I felt bad for him. I do hate that someone has to lose......he seemed annoyed at the booing, like he had had enough of the negativity. I just hope that the real John McCain is back and the person running, being ill advised iabout being angry and negative, is gone.

I agree. Sadly, it didn't surprise me. They should've shown more respect for our future president.

I totally agree.

It is especially poignant because this will be his last hurrah, so to speak. It was the last chance for him to serve in the office that he wanted most, after a career of more than 50 years in the service of the country that he unabashedly loves so much.

And very classy of him to accept the blame for the "mistakes made". As I recall, he has always been one to accept responsibility - even for the collapse of his first marriage. Someone who doesn't blame others - that's a rare trait, it seems like, these days.

It was an amazing speech. I'm sad, I think America really missed out on a true patriot and a fantastic leader.

That is no commentary on Obama, just a comment on McCain, so save your rebuttal.

I was very very pleased with McCain's speech. It was heartfelt and very sincere.
I was upset by the booing and disappointed in my fellow Republicans. It seemed McCain was also.
I have done alot of thinking today and believe McCain was dead on in requesting that we all support our new President. I for one plan on doing just that!
