Day 3

At long last (it wasn't really, but it felt that way), it was time for Julia to fly back to NYC. I certainly wasn't devastated to have 1000 miles between her and me. Claire said she would drive her to the airport, so the rest of us stayed in bed when they got up at 6 am to shower. Somehow, they managed to leave at 6:30 for the airport. We woke up long enough to say goodbye (I just waved). For reasons best known to her, Keelie decided she would like to go for a run, so she put on her shoes and left in the t-shirt and shorts she slept in. I managed to have the presence of mind to yell, "Hey, take my cell phone!"

Helen and I went back to sleep until Claire returned from the airport around 7:30 or so. I figured I should call Keelie to make sure she hadn't collapsed somewhere. She told me she ran for a while at GF and then ran to the Polynesian where she got tired. She stopped for a rest and then became too lazy to run back, so she was in the process of walking back. Her runs usually turn into walks <G>

The room seemed huge without Julia. I rejoiced in the peace. I showered and then called room service to get some bagels and OJ. When Keelie got back, she was dripping with sweat (I don't know how FL residents get used to the humidity) and headed straight for the shower, although she was unprepared and had to yell for Helen to bring her her robe. By the time we got cleaned up and made it to MGM it was 9 or so, which was good.

One thing I forgot to mention in Day 2 was: wth is with that blue HAT thing?!? That thing is what my daughter calls a waste of space. The best part about MGM was being able to look down HB and see the Chinese Theatre, for pity's sake. So, they decide to obstruct the view with a big, blue, butt-ugly, pointless hat (actually it IS pointy). What does it mean? What were they thinking? Here's hoping they wise up and scrap that thing.

We rode ToT and RnR, then headed over to the GMR. I remember waiting in pretty long lines at this attraction in years past, but it seems to hae lost its popularity. Time for some refurbishment? Who knows. Anyway, we got the gangster side. I like the other one better, but I didn't feel like riding again. We went over to Star Tours and waited in about a ten minute line for it. I like it, but I think it might also need some attention.

By 11:00, we were all sick of MGM and decided to go to DD. Keelie wanted to eat at Planet Hollywood. There wasn't a wait and we were seated pretty much right away. We must have been right by the speaker where the "background" music is piped out, because it was kind of loud. Helen burst out laughing at the first sound of "Midnight Rider" by the Allman Brothers came on. Due to an incident that occurred not long after we began seeing each other involving that song, me and my partners, a karaoke machine and a victory celebration, she cannot hear that song without laughing hysterically. Suffice it to say, it is miraculous that she was still willing to be seen in public with me again after that. The food was fine and we all liked what we had. We shared a pitcher of iced tea and a several appetizers: chicken, wontons, and little tostada things.

After lunch, we shopped a little bit in World of Disney. Keelie found a nightshirt with Donald Duck on it (her favorite character) which would come in handy since she had worn her "pajamas" jogging. Claire got a Winnie the Pooh shirt in Pooh Corner and then we headed back to the GF to swim. We did that for a couple of hours, then just hung around the room until it was time for our dinner PS.

At 5:30, Keelie and I took the monorail over to Epcot, then walked through the park to the BW to Flying Fish. Claire and Helen ate at Citrico's (they said everything was eloquent). Keelie and I always eat at FF together once each trip. As usual, we really enjoyed our meal. We both ordered Mahi-Mahi, which we'd never had in that restaurant. It was excellent, and probably the best M-M I had ever had. Keelie couldn't finish all of hers, but she liked it a lot. Between 7:30-7:45, Helen and Claire met us with the car in the BWI parking lot.

We all went over to PI. We decided to let Keelie go ahead and come. I am probably an irresponsible parent. She's heard worse in movies, unfortunately, so I don't think two comedy warehouse shows have corrupted her for life. Besides, a couple of the raunchier jokes went right over her head. We had a good time at PI, and also ducked into the Adventurer's Club and saw some of the crazy characters. After the long day the day before, we were all ready to go back by 11, which we did, then hit the hay.

Day 4 forthcoming (when I get a two spare moments back to back).

Awesome trip reports! I have really enjoyed reading them - thanks for taking the time to write them.

What a great idea you did with the monorail - that is one I will be stealing.

Thanks for the report. We saw lots of kids in PI when we were there. Did she enjoy herself?

I'm enjoying your reports. Thanks for posting!:D

It was worth waiting for your report. I'm looking forward to the next one. Thanks for posting.
