When the expert witnesses begin testimony, have they been doing a voir dire of their credentials first, including questions about whether they have testified before and have been qualified as an expert witness by another court previously? Expert witnesses are supposed to be noticed up to the opposing side first, complete with their curriculum vitae for the opposing party to review and be prepared to stipulate or oppose, or voir dire & then give their thumbs up or thumbs down to the judge to qualify as an expert or deny.

Is this not happening on the record in the case, or has it been stipulated to prior to them taking the stand here?

BTW, fees for expert witnesses are absolutely jaw-dropping. $300 an hour for testifying, particularly in a case this high profile isn't unexpected. It would be higher if it was being paid out of pocket by a defendant with retained counsel. Don't forget, expert witnesses also are generously paid for their review of evidence out of court, which isn't included in their fee for testifying.

I once listened to a dentist retained as an expert in a dental malpractice defend his fees by explaining that he "has to sit for quite a long time in the hallway on a very hard bench" while waiting to testify. If I remember correctly his hourly testimony fee was $750. I decided that day I had made a poor career choice.

With all the screwed up people in the world, we could use more good parents, no matter who they are. Reminds me...haven't checked FB in a few days...I bet there are a few people just about having seizures there about gay marriage/Supreme Court; I need to go poke them with a stick and "share" some Human Rights Campaign posts. LOL
