Jodi Arias Trial Part 3, STILL in redirect of Jodi, Mar 5

Just saw the replay of Jodi going through the whole killing again, in response to the juror request to USE THE DIAGRAM, and she didn't use it, or barely. She just went on and on narrating her story. Where was the judge in all this? Or for that matter, JM? I can't help thinking that Belvin Perry would have had this whole trial under control. He really spoiled me. (I wonder if the juror put another note in the basket asking for it again.)

Another good judge/prosecutor combo was Judge Larry Fidler and Prosecutor Alan Jackson from the Phil Spector trial. I wish they had aired the retrial after the first trial ended with a hung jury.

So these comments were made by PPL people, before he died, who were close to Travis and "knew something"?? Wow. Don't know anything about myspace, but I know tons of people who have 1000 dearest and closest FB friends. Just to be clear...I'm not going to assume anything about PPL people based on what you saw. :sad2:

You make a lot of assumptions. Travis was not a pedophile. NO evidence. If you think that that ONE line in a sex tape being egged on by someone who secretly recorded the conversation and was into encouraging topping the last sex fantasy proves anything, then I hope you never serve on a jury.

This is probable one of the most judgmental things I've heard on the DIS and that's saying a lot.Agreed. And to clarify...I've heard that/read that. I really haven't discussed sex with "every man I know" like Uncle Remus has.But Travis didn't want to have sex with a 12 year old. Exactly. And she DID. She was giggly and cutesie while acting like a *****. It was about JODI, not about little 12 year old girls on the street.

Obviously you and I disagree. :lmao:

I think someone asked about the murder again to see how she reacts when talking about. She has no emotion whatsoever, she just spews out her story like it was any other ordinary scenario. If something this traumatic happened to the normal person, every time they spoke of it they would be upset in some way.
Not her...... She is in a league all by herself.

I can't even imagine what makes someone think a 12 year old sounding like she's having her first orgasm is hot. Course, in this case, poor Travis being driven by his healthy all American male hormones, it's probably not a reflection of his views, poor thing just couldn't help himself being manipulated by his stalker who none of his friends knew he was having repeated sex with for almost a year after they broke up.

Well, his stalker was taping him without his knowledge. These sorts of conversations generally remain private. It is the sort of venue where anyone may say really stupid or cringe worthy things in the heat of the moment that can't be disected as literal. Fantasy is not reality.

As to why he let her near him, we will never know. But if he were here, there would be a line of about a million people starting with his 7 brothers and sisters smacking him upside the head.

He paid for that mistake already.

I agree about why they asked that to some extent, but also to see her map it out on the diagram too, from beginning to end, to see how it plays out...if it makes sense, if she trips up on her story, etc. JM's cross was so choppy and so full of zeroing in on certain aspects (one foot out, two feet out), I think they just wanted to be able to envision the whole story, as told by Jodi Arias.

Re-watching Jodi's answers right now....It is insanely creepy how she answers. It is like she is hosting her own talk show. She barely answers what is asked and goes right into her own narration of what she wants to say. She loses herself in listening to her own voice. She even at one point interupts the judge reading a question saying, I didn't really get to answer the last question, I want to go back.

I honestly think the questioning is hurting her not helping.

As for the previous discussion on the board that Travis saying her sounding like a 12 yr old girl is hot makes him a pedophile....that is just ridiculous. Pretty much every lingerie catalog and store has the "schoolgirl" themed outfit, so obviously it is a fairly mainstream idea. Perhaps a poor choice of words, but that seems to be the idea that I got from him making that comment, no that he was craving a sexual encounter with a 12 yr old.

It was a poor choice of words, but I don't believe for a second he was into young kids. Besides, that would contradict his attraction to little boys (Spidey undies, jacking off to a pic of a boy, the boy he was "close" to) that Jodi was trying to prove. Those who are into pedophila generally are not into both genders. It's one or the other. Who knows, maybe it was part of some weird role play. (TMI ALERT) A guy I used to date wanted me to call him Daddy and he would say "good girl" and other such things to me. No way did I ever consider that to be his way of implying he'd rather be with a little girl.

I know we don't have to agree and I like that I can see other viewpoints. You've raised some really good points throughout these discussions that show the defense side that is easy to avoid when you hear so many of her lies and just want to point fingers. I'm open to all possibilities, but the attraction to minors just doesn't seem conceivable to me.

Does anybody know anything about the jury selection in this case? How long did it take them to seat the panel? I imagine it must have been horrendously long. Was it clear from the outset of voir dire that they would not be sequestered?

The jurors are likely to be a tremendous source of potential appellate issues in something like this. Cannot imagine the scrutiny they are and will be under.

Does defendant have finances or financial backing to retain a hardcore appellate atty who could mount much of an investigation? I'm sure there are lots of whackadoos claiming to support her in something so high profile, but what is her family situation like and does it appear there are funded, organized support groups who are going to mount a serious challenge and could poke through the minutiae of the jurors' lives and backgrounds?

I had to laugh when she was explaining why she didn't go to the left to leave the room. "The door was closed and I'd have to open it and go around it to go out of it *insert rambling about how difficult it is to go out a door that was previously shut*"

Could be that I'm just really talented, but I've never had difficulties going through a door I had to open....even when I was in a hurry

Poor Jodes had everything working against her...a door and um, :confused3. I mean, who would think "I better get the hell out of here!" when they could think "I'm going to go get that gun that MIGHT still be on the top shelf after I last last saw it, even tho the person I want to threaten with it told me it's not loaded."

:confused3

My favorite question from yesterday was:

What is your understanding of the word "skank?"

Too funny!! My initial thought was that there must be a Dis-er on the jury. What a great snarky question!

I could see one of the older jurors asking this question. My mother would have no idea what that word means.

With the scrutiny on this case and the fact the guy is dead and cannot make trouble for anybody who comes forward to impune his name with accusations of pedophilia, if this guy had those traits in his background, somebody(s) who knew any little crumb would have been sniffed out and paid by the media to spill at this point. I absolutely call into question the credibility of an admitted killer who has told multiple lies and admittedly engaged in multiple deceptions in order to deflect suspicion from her actions -- for what she now claims is an act of self defense.

As for the comment that pedophiles are gender-preferential -- generally, but not absolutely. Please believe me when I say that you don't want to consider the most common proclivities of the group who most often cross gender lines, there is not enough brain bleach for that information.

I'm pretty sure most pedophiles fantasized about kids before acting on it and imagining a 12 year old girl and sexual encounters sounds like pedophilia to me.

And I don't give any credence to Jodi's stories about pictures or little boys, but the words and feelings about 12 year old girls came outta Travis mouth, not hers.

I fantasize about Joey Jackson...hopefully someday I'll get to act on it :rotfl2:

And her answer was "I've been taught that it was bad to point guns at people we're they're loaded or not. I was hoping once I pointed the gun at him, he would stop."

Well if it was truly TA's gun, and if he was really coming at her, do you really think he would stop coming? He would know its not loaded and keep coming because he wouldn't get hurt by it.

Now this is my opinion, but if he did have a gun and had it loaded; then I would think he would stop dead in his tracks knowing it was loaded. At least I would.
