Jodi Arias Trial Part 3, STILL in redirect of Jodi, Mar 5

Kwame Kilpatrick (former Detroit mayor) kept saying he'd never go back to jail or be found guilty. Today the jury in federal court found him guilty of 24 felony counts (RICO among them) and hauled his heinie off to jail.

Justice prevailed here in Detroit! Hopefully it will in Phoenix, too!

I thought homicide was an option? Or is that second degree? In all honesty, as despicable as I believe Jodi to be, I'd have an extremely difficult time putting somebody on death row. I wouldn't be the executioner, but I sure would feel as though I'd be playing the role of God in a way. There is no envy for anybody on the jury (other than the really good seat and the ability to ask questions that I would love to ask), and I hope they are all similar in mindset, so that the best decision can be made.
Homicide IS murder.

So after I typed that line "homicide IS murder", I decided to google it and came up with this (learn something new every day):

"The killing of one human being by another human being.

Although the term homicide is sometimes used synonymously with murder, homicide is broader in scope than murder. Murder is a form of criminal homicide; other forms of homicide might not constitute criminal acts. These homicides are regarded as justified or excusable. For example, individuals may, in a necessary act of Self-Defense, kill a person who threatens them with death or serious injury, or they may be commanded or authorized by law to kill a person who is a member of an enemy force or who has committed a serious crime. Typically, the circumstances surrounding a killing determine whether it is criminal. The intent of the killer usually determines whether a criminal homicide is classified as murder or Manslaughter and at what degree."

As far as applying the death penalty...the jury needs to first determine her guilt or innocence, and hopefully they'll find her guilty of 1st degree murder. I hope they don't get hung up on the fact that they would then have to decide death or life in prison. I have no doubt that some jurors feel the same as you (it must be a daunting decision to make), but they shouldn't be considering her sentence when they're determining her guilt/innocence. They need an unanimous vote for death, and honestly, I don't think they'll get it. As pro-death penalty as I am (in the sense that I believe in the need for its existence) and as much as I believe she fits the criteria established in this case, I don't necessarily personally believe it should be applied here. I'm good with her rotting in jail for the rest of her life. :thumbsup2

Anyone familiar with the murder of Dr Petit's family in CT? Those killers DEFINITELY deserve death, IMHO. What they did to that family is beyond horrific.
I don't think JA is going to walk away. She confessed to the murder. Way different from CA. More evidence than you can shake a stick at.
True. ::yes::

I'm half watching JVM, so this info is probably half correct. It appears that a Travis Victor Alexander was arrested in 2002 for shop-lifting and getting into a scuffle with someone at the grocery store, served 9 days in jail and 3 years probation and ordered to stay out of the store and away from the person he scuffled with. This is something that Jodi supporters posted online as proof of his violent tendencies. BUT the woman who is writing a book about the Jodi Arias case did some research and found out that it was a relative of Travis who stole his identity who was arrested, and that Travis had even spoken about it when he did his motivational speaking.

Also wanted to share this...the website for Alyce LaViolette, who is likely the expert speaker on domestic violence who will testify on Jodi's behalf:

As a witness, she shouldn't be watching the case, but if she is, I wonder if she's re-thinking things or still buying into The Jodi Story.

One last thing! lol A tweet from Vinnie Politan:

@VinniePolitan: BIG NEWS! Starting Wednesday on @HLN I will be hosting a new show at 10pm eastern, #HLNAfterDark with a live studio jury talking #JodiArias

Jodi is really good at keeping poised and calm through all of this, if she does cry, I'll be extremely surprised.

Just stumbled on this JA thread! I thought I was the only one totally obsessed with this trial ! I'm really missing watching JA hang herself.
One of the smartest comments I've heard was that if Travis had a loaded gun in his closet, he surely would have told his roommates.

I am missing the trial, too. If Nurmi was still up, I wouldn't be in such a hurry to want it back on. I can't wait to see what Mr. Juanderful has up his sleeve.

Cool - thanks for posting this! I'll definitely be watching.

Mr Juanderful! Love it!

Other cast of characters...Jodes, Jingasaurus, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Lady. :teeth: Have I missed any? Do we need to name the others? The CA trial had Jose Bozo and Marble Mouth Mason. :thumbsup2
That's WAY past my bedtime.
Take a nap or DVR it! Honestly, I kind of hate to add one more show to watch about this trial, but I'll give it a shot because I like Vinnie Politan. And maybe he'll have Joey Jackson on. :)

Oh, ANOTHER THING! lol Dr Phil tomorrow is about a young ex-boyfriend/ex-girlfriend...she's obsessed with him and keeps calling him/stalking him, and I guess he wants out of the relationship, BUT...they're still getting together for sex. Sounds like a Jodi/Travis tragedy in the making. I wonder if Dr Phil will bring that up.

Of course Phil will bring it up. Sensationalism at it's best.... I don't watch his program any more. I think that I can do just as good a job at telling people what to do that he can :rolleyes1

This season does seem more sensational, or something. I never watched his show every day...I DVR it every day and watch what interests me, and the number of shows I've watched this season has decreased quite a bit. He's grouchier and almost every show is like an infomercial for his latest book (published by his son, ya know  ). Today was a good one tho...a real tearjerker. I'll watch tomorrow's show.

I just watched the 48 Hours video for the first time. She is pure evil. She makes my skin crawl. I can't take credit for Mr. Juanderful. I saw it somewhere and have called him that ever since. We need a name for Nurmi.

Well you all have been very busy in here today!!!! :woohoo:

Mare, my DS' ex-gf lived in Cheshire. He was dating her when this happened back in 2007 and they (ex's family) knew the Petit's. I kept up with as much as I could with the trial but my GAWD did I cry for that poor man. Cry cry cry. And then when he sat down with Oprah at his home. OMG the saddest interview ever. I wonder how he is doing? :sad1:

Well that CRAP with the relative stealing and using Travis' identity is MESSED UP. Sheesh. And that STUPID DUMB website to be even discussing it when it does not have the FACTS. :headache:

I am sooooooo darn incredibly CONFUSED by this Battered Woman crap with JA ….JA WENT TO TRAVIS….TRAVIS DID NOT GO TO HER EVER. EVER. JA could have STAYED AWAY but JA STALKED THE HECK OUT OF TRAVIS OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. AND this was KNOWN by all his friends. JA WAS A SCORNED STALKER. Gawd. How the Prosecution thinks they are going to WIN with that CRAP is beyond me.

Thanks for that INFO about HLN!! I bet it is 7PM my time!!!! :thumbsup2
