Yeah. I've seen him at least once a year since '88...till my son was born in 2004 to break my streak. I started a new streak last week. Hopefully he's around playing long enough for me to take my son to a show.
My kids BEG to go see Jimmy. I keep saying someday. I did see quite a few kids there Saturday.

He's supposed to be playing out in Vegas in October. I'm going to try to convince my DH that we need to go see him there. Hey, DH's bday is in October. Hmmm, maybe I'll just arrange it and surprise him for his birthday. :scratchin

Ok I'm green..I don't get to go this year :sad2: Maybe I'll just go to the beach, turn up some Jimmy and slam a few nice frosty 'ritas. It will due in a pinch.

And remember, it doesn't matter when you do this 'cause "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere". :rotfl2:

I LOVE JIMMY BUFFETT!! I JUST SAW LAST THURSDAY IN VA! it's not even a week later and i still have all the marker all over my windows from decorating my car for the show. although the sun has now faded all the pretty colors and it just looks white.

he sang the peanut butter song! i love that song. and my personal favorite, the weather is here, wish you were beautiful. out of 3 years in a row that's the first time i've ever heard those 2 :cool1:

I have a funny Jimmy Buffett story...

As I mentioned before, I have been a fan since 1974 (yes, that dates me!) and have seen him a couple times in concert. Back in...1986 I think...he was playing a concert on the Boston Common. I took off from work early and went to hang out in town. (I was meeting my sister and brother for the concert later) I walked around different local hotels thinking maybe Jimmy would be there - but then wondered what the heck I would say to him if I saw him!

Anyhow...I was walking around the common near where the concert would be when I saw a guy walking with a little girl (I forget how old his daughter Savannah Jane was at that time..maybe 7?) And then this *guy* stopped to talk with someone working the concert. I knew then that it was Jimmy! SJ was then running around chasing the dirty Boston pigeons. I thought it was funny that this young girl, who probably saw more of the world at her young age than I ever will, was having so much fun chasing pigeons! :)

When I got my voice back and Jimmy was done talking, I walked up to him and somehow managed to say hello. I got his autograph - when I asked if I could take a picture he asked me not to as he didn't want to attract attention - so I didn't. But when he walked away I got a cute one from behind of he & his daughter holding hands. :) I

It was so funny so see him walking away and no-one noticing and me screaming inside - THERE GOES JIMMY BUFFETT!!!!

He has always been my favorite and that was one of the highlights in my life.. :thumbsup2

I've got to try to find that picture and scan it..

I LOVED going to the Manassas concerts. DH and I have been there two or three times for Buffett concerts and we always had such a great time. After not having gone for a few years we just went last week to the concert in Camden, NJ - in 100 degree heat!! Boy it was HOT!!! But so worth it!

As for parakeets, both DS and DD have each been to a JB concert once, but they won't remember since I was preggers for each LOL!! (Everyone loved that, since I was the obvoius designated driver.) I'm working on burning a parakeet CD for them with songs that are OK for them to hear (wow, there's a lot I can't include :rotfl: ...Why Don't We Get Drunk...Math S*cks, etc etc etc!!!). I listened to the one a PP mentioned that has kids singing, but I like the original versions better.

nissan is great! i have been there the last 3 years. and this past year my sister and i did it in full out buffett style. last year we didn't get there early enough to parttake in all the 'parking lot' activities. and the year before we 'played' but only a little. but man, last week was great! it truly isn't summer until buffett comes! and i hear you on the heat! it was one of those crazy hot days last thursday. before we left my mom was like be careful and don't drink a lot cause it's hot. i said, come on, i need to have a margarita. needless to say i had many... *sigh* good times! :woohoo:

hehe yeah, i think it's funny when you see the parents there with their younger kids. but a lot of his songs are harmless and fun :cool1:

Me too Ed!!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

DS is also a Parakeet. He's 9, and DH and I have told him he's allowed to go to a show when he's 12. I see lots of kids there every year (I'm on my 13th year in a row) but a lot of what's up on the video screen, in the parking lot, and in the crowd is still a little much for our little guy.

I'm also at a Guster show tonight at the Bank of America Pavillion in Boston. I'm going to be T I R E D come Sunday. :teeth:

Another Parrothead here! :wave2:

I have been to every concert since sometime in the late 80's, except for one when I was about 7 months pregnant. My kids have grown up Buffett fans and always beg to go to the show with us. I finally gave in this year - one is 12 and the other is 9. And wouldn't you know it rained from the minute JB came on the stage until 30 minutes after the show ended....and our seats were just outside of the covered area. I spent most of the show under the overhang at the entrance to the bathrooms because my younger DD was so wet and chilly she was shaking. We ended up having to take her to the car about halfway through the concert. She was so disappointed that she didn't get to enjoy her first Buffett show.

We're all ready for next year!

DS11 and DD9 finally got to see Jimmy this year at Cinci. They have been begging for the last 3-4 years to go. Especially DD, as she knows DH named her Delaney because of Jimmy. She knows every word to Delaney Talks To Status. And from that song, the line about her speaking a language all her own fits our DD perfectly. Every once in a while he gives me the WTH look as she goes babiling around the house. DH calls it Delanies.

The kids loved his show. Luckly, with the people standing around us, they didn't see anything on the jumbo screens. And there was no smell of wacky weed around us either. The people standing around us were some of the GREATEST people we have ever partied with. They told us to lift the kids up, that they weren't blocking their view. They even held them up a some themselves. If a beach ball came close to our area, made sure my kids got to hit it. The kids can't wait for next year.

Oh that's too bad about the rain! That happened to us 2 years ago but we were on the LAWN!!! It was a huge mud pit! And stupid me wore white jean shorts! I don't know what I was thinking. But after like the 10th time I slid down the hill on my rear end (I blame it on the rain and the amount of beverages consumed ;) ) there was no bleaching those shorts clean! They went in the trash.

That's such a bummer for your kids first Buffett concert! I hope you have better weather next year!

Another Parrothead chiming in! I actually got a kiss (on my cheek) from Buffett several years ago! I made it on stage twice the summer he did the stump the band segment during his summer concert tour. It was great. I also got a video from each show of the small set he did that included this portion, plus an autograph boxed Buffett CD set.

If anyone has a chance, I also highly recommend that you catch a Peter Mayer concert. Pete is Jimmy's lead guitarist - and brother of the bass player, Jim. Two of the nicest guys around. They put on a great show with some very talent performers - and everyone gets a chance to meet the band/talk to the guys at the end of show :yay:

Hey, has anyone a spare salt shaker? I can't seem to find mine :rotfl:

You guys are KILLIN' me! I saw a Buffett show just about every year of high school & college including 3x in one week (the Cinci-Columbus-Cleveland Margarita Haze of '92). Haven't see him since.

How about an Anchorage tour stop??? We have boats, bars, beaches (well at least it LOOKS like a beach, just beware of quicksand), more private planes per capita than any other state, cheeseburgers, fly fishing, tequilla, and we NEVER let a silly thing like weather get in the way of a good party!

Got my JB tix for Detroit and I am ready to party!!! It's been 3 years since he's been here and we sure have missed him!

I love your daughter's name and the story behind it! It's nice to hear what a great concert experience your kids had. Jimmy Buffett has been a huge part of my life for a loooooooong time, and my kids were exposed to his music when they were quite young. Well, not ALL of his songs! :rotfl2:

My son borrows my Greatest Hits CD all the time and plays it on the CD player of his computer. I had completely forgotten that a certain song was on there till I heard him singing it. :scared1:

I cannot wait till he is old enough to take to a concert.
