Hey All,

I'm looking through the restaurants, trying to get my ADR's together, & was wondering if Jiko is worth two credits on the dining plan? Is it THAT good? Would you do it instead of Boma or in addition to Boma? It will be just myself & my ten & twelve year old dining.

Any thoughts?

I just dined at Jiko this past Sunday. I thought the food was excellent. I had the Kalamata Olive Flatbread and the Oak Grilled Filet. They were both to die for. I also had a glass of wine but no dessert. My total cost was $68 after a 20% tip.

Since the DDP no longer includes the appetizer, I don't think you will get your money's worth at some signature restaurants anymore but it's still a wonderful restaurant

I wrote a review in the dining review forum on my Jiko experience. I will be going again.

Anyone else? Or, is there another restaurant that you feel is worth the two credits? Just wondering.....:confused3

I think it's definitely worth 2 credits. We had an excellent meal there in December. The food was perfect from the apps to the cheese plate. Also I would even pay OOP for an appertizer. Yummy flatbreads and lamb dishes.

It's definitely a great restaurant but with the new dining plan, I would not use the credits towards that. If you think about it, the cost of the dining plan is 38.99 per person per day. If you dined at jiko you would use 2 credits which would be 78.00. The cost for my dinner was 49 for just the food. Since the DDP doesn't included Tip or Appetizer it seems like you would lose out using the dining plan.

Jiko is sooooo good. I love it, don't know about the value for the credits though.

We just used 2 credits each at Jiko's last week. We have never dined there before. We have been to Boma's many times before and we also included it this time too. I did not think Jiko's was worth 2 credits. We enjoyed the meal and loved the restaurant and probably would go back but without the dining plan. We did not order apps and we did not order wine either so we felt our waiter kind of left us for some time and we wondered if that was because of the dining plan. When you are on the dining plan I think they get the idea that we were ordering just what came with the plan. With a restaurant like this I think the waiters make a lot more money on tables that order all their wonderful wines and apps. We order 2 beers but that was the only thing extra and we had a very nice waiter but did not see him much. We had to flag him down to refill our drinks and that was the only time we had to do that the whole 12 day vacation. We will go back and I think we will enjoy it more by ordering apps and maybe splitting a dinner.

We went with the plan and without the plan, we loved it both times.

As far as it being worth 2 Credits, I'd say no for the reasons stated above. I'd actually say no to all signature dining on the basic plan because of the loss of appetizers. (with the exception of Narcoossee's lobster or surf and turf).

The 2008 DDP is $37.99/night per adult. Assume that you're getting a value of $13 for each CS meal you're entitled to. You're daily value breaks down like this:

$75.98 - DDP Cost for two nights
-$26.00 - CS Value
-$6.00 - Snacks
$43.98 - Value you must get from meal in order to break even

Hmmm...it really does not seem like a very good deal...too bad. I like to feel that I am at least recouping my money on the DDP.

Thanks everyone! Maybe I'll just see if I can find a couple of good alternatives instead.
