Jiko, Citricos, or Artist's Point?

We've never eaten at any of the three.

We are planning to eat at one sig. this trip. Originally we were staying at AKL so I booked Jiko.

Now we are staying at BC. This night would be EMH at MK so that's why I included MK resorts in my dining options- we can eat, watch wishes, then hit MK for a few hours. We will have a car if needed.

Question: will I totally regret not going to Jiko? We are going to Boma and Sanaa on our AK day.

If not, Citricos or AP? I've considered Yachtsman, but we have Le Cellier, Ohana and Kona ADRs and last year we were sick of steak :)

So with that wealth of info: Citricos, Jiko, or AP and why?

Thanks you DIS'ers are the best!!

I know Jiko has a huge following here on the DIS, but I've just never been impressed with it. They do have really good appetizers, but I am not fond of their entrees or desserts. I've had a couple of their flatbreads, filet with macaroni & cheese, maize crusted fish, pistachio creme bruleee, and their cheese plate. The flatbreads and cheese plate are the only things I'd go back for.

Citricos is very good. I love the crab gateau and used to love the berry gratin that is no longer on the menu:sad2:. Their short rib is also good, but I was not impressed with their steak. It was just OK. I've also had their chocolate banana tart. It too was just OK.

Now we love Artist Point. Over the years we've had the mushroom soup, mussels, spinach salad, venison pot stickers, wild boar, buffalo, salmon, berry cobbler, fig clafouti, and berries in muscat wine. The only thing we didn't like was the berries in muscat wine. They were in a bunch of nasty gelatin and came with a really nasty mint mousse. They also have a very nice selection of wines there.

Jiko, Citricos and Artist Point are all in my top 5 restaurants at WDW, so you really can't go wrong with any of them. That being said, if I had to recommend one for you it would be Citricos. I say this based on the fact that (a) you are already going to Boma and Sanaa (Jiko is better than both, but that is a lot of meals at the AKL!), and (b) if you want to do the MK after dinner, it is more convenient to get to the MK from Citricos than from AP. So, you see, I can't recommend one over the others based on food or service (because they are all great in that respect), but instead based only on the logistics of your trip.

Have not done Jiko.

Citrico's Have eaten here twice. DH and I love this restaurant, (probably are favorite on Disney Property) atmosphere romantic, service wonderful, food excellent. I give it :thumbsup2:thumbsup2.

Artist Point Have eaten here once loved it, DH just OK. Lovely atmosphere, service here was the problem, not the food, we had the all time worst waitress ever, cold, evasive, whenever we needed something we had to ask other person if he could find our waitress. Not even a Thank You for the tip, (let me tell you there were 6 of us and she did get a 20% tip, don't think we gave her any extra, we usually do if were pleased with the service) Will we return yes, I'm sure our next server has to be better. Overall I give it :thumbsup2: with reservations.

I've eaten at Citrico's and Jiko but not Artist Point (yet)

So, of those two, I'd pick Citrico's easily. Not that the food isn't as good at Jiko but I just liked the overall feel of Citrico's and, yes, the Grouper there was about the best I've ever had in my life (and my gf's filet was cooked perfectly).

Plus, it's right off the monorail line. :)

I love Citrico's! I've eaten there several times and have never had a bad meal. Jiko's is also very good, been there a few times as well. AP is ok; the first time was mediocre (both food and service) but the second time we had an exceptional server who took really good care of us and the food was excellent.

JIKO used to be my favorite signature restaurant but wasn't quite as good as I'd remembered last time we were there (Oct. '09).

Citrico's is now our favorite signature restaurant. We went for the first time last October and were blown away and returned last week and it was even better than before! The crab gateau and veal shank are both incredible!

Have never been to AP.

We didnt like Jiko that much when we ate there in Nov but we LOVED Citricos. After all the wonderful recent reviews for AP I would like to try that on our next trip

We have dined at all three. Based upon our experiences in food quality, service, and ambience....here is the order of recommendation:
1. Citricos
2. Jiko
3. Artist Point

Thanks! Looks like responses are trending toward Citricos with strong rec's for the other two.

I think I will go with Citricos because of the location compared to Jiko and the ambience is better than AP from what I've seen. We generally don't care about ambience but heck it's our anniversary trip so we could try it once ;).

I have eaten at Artist Point and Jiko. I would go with Artist Point. I preferred the ambience of the restaurant, the service and the food.

Honestly, I think you'll be happy with any of them, judging by the responses! We've done Jiko and Artist Point (not Citrico's) and my choice would be Jiko. But we love all the AKV restaurants. The food at Jiko was good because it had a really different kind of selection. We like that kind of thing. Gives you a chance to experiment with different kinds of food. And the last time we went was part of the Wanyama Safari, so we had just been out on the savannahs with the animals, then were served an amazing dinner at Jiko where we sampled several items in each course. So we just have general good vibes about Jiko all around at this point! :goodvibes

We liked Artist Point, but it wasn't anything amazingly spectacular. The salmon was good and we had great service. But the atmosphere seemed kind of stark?

I'll be interested in trying Citrico's soon, although our signature restaurant choice on our next trip is California Grill.

I can get Cali Grill, but only immediately after Wishes... so we could watch from the lounge, then eat, but I thought that would be wasting time we could spend at the MK...

I like having these kinds of problems, much better than real ones :)

Citricos is way better than Artist Point and after last years' fiasco there, I am not sure we will go back this year. You can check it out in my review below.

Citricos has always had great food and fantastic service in our experience. I liked Jiko the first time we dined there, this second time was great, but not as good as before. The appetizers are a little more interesting with the flatbreads, except for the crab gateau at Citricos-awesome.

You're not going to miss that much time from the park. The CR is the 1st stop from the MK on the resort monorail line. You'll be able to see Wishes from the viewing deck and won't have to worry about camping out a spot in the MK for 15-30 min. before the fireworks.

And, you'll be enjoying an awesome meal and relaxing and then can head back into the park and enjoy shorter lines as many leave after Wishes and Spectromagic.

I'd probably walk back to the MK instead of the monorail around...depends on how much you eat and drink though! :)

Artist Point, our favorite. Been there every visit. Have had good service every time. Mushroom soup, filet, buffalo, berry cobbler...

Citricos. It's been years. Our experience was good, not great. Our daughter's steak had to be returned 3 times before it was presented at the correct doneness.

Jiko's. Never been--we do Boma's.

Thanks for the help!

I somehow lucked into a CG ressie a half hour before Wishes, so I think I am going to try there! :woohoo:
