Hi Fellow NYers or those that have done Long Term Parking at JFK airport..

Well I just booked yet ANOTHER trip to Disney :cool1:
But since its just me and my mom (a suprise for her) we will be driving and doing Long Term Parking..
Now from the JFK website, finding the Parking lot should be easy..
But once we park.. Here is my question..
It says the AirTrain will take us.. Do we pay for that also?
and Where does it drop us off? In front of our Terminal? We are flying out of JetBlue...

Thanks for any help...
Now I just need to figure out a way to tell her, (when the time comes)
I dont think I can keep that secret untill Dec!!!

Be very, very careful when looking for Long Term Parking at JFK.
My son's left from JFK for our trip to WDW in May. I had left the day before from LaGuardia.
They pulled into the parking lot and asked the attendant if they were in the long term parking. He said yes, right up there and pointed to the ramp. There were no signs anywhere for Long Term or Short Term parking, Laguardia is marked everywhere and so is Bradley in Hartford, but they didn't see any signs at JFK.
They parked the car and went to Delta.
When they got back they were told that their parking for the 11 days was $264. they only had the $100 they had put aside for parking in Long Term Parking.
The manager was called and he agreed to let them go but gave them a bill for the amount. They took my son's driver's license # and my registration # since my son's had driven me to LaGuardia and had my car. I was in FL for 14 days, they spent 11 so they needed my car to pick me up.
I called and spoke nicely, argued, yelled, argued, etc.. for hours and they insist that my son's saw the signs and knew they were in Short Term parking.
I drove back to the airport and they showed me where they parked and there were no signs. When I brought this to the attention of the manager he told me that the boys were lying and they hadn't parked in the spot they told me but were in the other lot where of course signs were posted.
So now we have gotten our first bill in the mail and I will get on the phone again Monday and argue this again. I refuse to just give in and pay for the parking, $264 is ridiculous for 11 days. Peggie

We also have always used Avistar... we really like it. It's very convenient and it works well for us. ;)

Thanks for the heads up..
I will look into AviStar.
Last thing I need is to either get lost, or charged triple what I expect to pay...

Thanks again!

I always use the Long Term Parking at JFK. It is not difficult to find... Just print the directions off the website... once you are in the lot... drive close to the elevated Airtran pylons.. you can't miss em... try and park close to there... it is to the right once you go through the attendant. If you park close to there.. you can just walk from your car to the airtran station. HINT.. lots of people leave those luggage carrier things all over the lot... grab on and put your stuff on it... Okay.. now as to Air tran... No you do not have to pay for it.... it is a free service when you get on at the LTP lots... just go upstairs.. there is an elevator and escalator... and get on the airtran train... they are great.. very convenient.. and quick. If you are unsure as to which side to get on.. just look for flight attendants and airline personell... usually they are there too since the LTP lot is also the employee parking lot!!! So.. if you see a jet blue pilot.. just follow them!! :) Once you get off at your stop.. you go back downstairs and just across the road into the JEt Blue terminal. VERY EASY... just remember.. if you are unsure.. just ask... always someone around to help out... Biggest tip is don't wait for a bus in the LTP lot... just walk to the station as the bus only brings you to the station and takes forever to do so!

Kathy

Thanks for the Info..

Thanks again.. Cant wait!!! But I still havent figured out how to tell her.. HA HA HA...

We have a 6 a.m. flight next week, so I've booked Avistar. I'm not too thrilled about getting to JFK in the middle of the night and thought this was the safest way.

That's what we like about Avistar too (we have a 7am flight in a few weeks)& there's no walking involved at all. You drive up, they take out your luggage, your car takes off & you hop on their bus with your loaded luggage.

and we also flew JetBlue out of JFK.

We ended up getting a coupon for parking w/ Avistar through JetBlue's website. We got 1 day free and paid a reduced rate for the remaining days. We got there around 9 AM on Friday and got home around 5:30 on Tuesday and it only cost me mid $40's for the entire time. Plus they take your luggage out of your car, put it in the van, load you and you're off. Called from the terminal, they came, got us and had the car ready and started to cool it off for us. Very happy with the service.

Since we were travelling w/ our 2 kids, I wasn't interested in going on the tram and having to drag all our luggage, not to mention the car seat and the stroller.
