Western New Yorkers craving sun and Mickey Mouse will soon have another way to get to Orlando in a hurry.
JetBlue Airways will add a new, non-stop flight from Buffalo Niagara International Airport to the Florida city starting Nov. 15. Rochester and Portland, Maine are also getting new direct service to Orlando.
The customer response to our low-fare service in all three Northeast cities has been tremendous, so it just makes sense to offer more of the low-fare service our customers have been asking for, said Marty St. George, JetBlues vice president of network planning.
The just-announced flight is just what the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority wants to see, according to Executive Director Lawrence Meckler.
This is exactly what were looking for more direct connections. This is a real coup for Western New York and Southern Ontario travelers, Meckler said.
The new non-stop Orlando flight is scheduled to depart Buffalo at 3:40 p.m. daily, arriving in Florida at 6:30 p.m. The direct return flight leaves Orlando at 12:20 p.m. and gets back to Buffalo at 3 p.m.
Among the top 10 destinations for fliers out of the Buffalo airport, Orlando ranks No. 7. With the addition of the JetBlue flight in November, local travelers will five options for non-stop trips to Orlando. Southwest Airlines offers three non-stop flights per day and Air Tran flies one daily direct flight.
The new Orlando route is the second additional JetBlue flight to Florida that will debut in November. In July, the airline announced it will begin flying one non-stop flight per day between Buffalo and Fort Lauderdale.
In August, JetBlue was the third busiest airline at the Buffalo airport, carrying 16 percent of passengers. The airlines outbound passengers totaled 43,835, up 12.5 percent from 38,960 in August 2006. As of Nov. 15, JetBlues flight count out of Buffalo will climb to 12 per day, including eight flights to JFK, two to Boston, and the two daily Florida flights.

Great news!! I was not looking at using Jetblue for one reason and that was that all their flights were a connection. Now I'm defintely looking, especially for the way home
