JetBlue New Carry-on Size Limit in 2015?

IATA has a 2 page PDF flyer. On page one the flyer ststesBoeing and Airbus told them 22x14x9 is largest size for efficient use if cabin space.

Page 2 tells us the limit will be 22x14x8

I'll speculate the one inch difference is to reflect protrusions caused by items put in suitcase pockets

This is untrue. The size limit of a carry-on bag on United Airlines is 22x14x9 inches, the same as Delta, American, Hawaiian, etc.

Guess I should've said, of the airlines I fly united has always had the lowest size. Of course that is changing now while other airlines carryons get smaller. I have a few carry on bags in storage and grab one by the airline I'm flying.

The Canadian airlines/airports are now actively enforcing carry-on sizes. Oversize bags are required to be checked at the check-in counter and the baggage fee plus a gate check penalty is charged (making it $35-$40 per bag). We saw this happening in Europe when we were there last year and now it just started in Canada.
If it's in Canada and the airlines are making more money doing it, you can be pretty sure that the American airlines are going to catch on soon and start enforcing carry-on sizes also.
I notice a couple of the Ultra Low Cost Carriers are charging a baggage fee for all carry-on sized luggage already. I wouldn't be surprised if this spreads to all airlines eventually.

These days you should always be ready to have your carry-on booted to gate check whether they are checking sizes or not. Always carry your medicines and valuables in a small bag that will fit under the seat in all cases!

As for that picture of luggage in the overhead bin... LOL that is NOT what any flight from or to Orlando looks like! Where are the odd shaped merchandise bags?

Keep in mind that for many international airlines, there is not only a size limit for carry-on bags, but a weight limit as well.

Very true, we used to live in England and on our last visit back we watched all the North American travellers who had taken huge and numerous carry-ons to England without any trouble have to pay to have them checked after being weighed and having too many on the way back home.

Without sounding like a 'goodie two shoes' we are used to having to 'manage' our carry-ons whilst travelling and make sure that we are not over sized or weight even though we only really ever travel with carry-on and no checked luggage. We always check the airlines website for both the outward and inward flights as they differ so much.

Flying a LCC internal on South Africa flights soon, and oh yes there is. And I have to get my DSLR bodies and glass under that limit ... Nikon's new ultra light tele couldn't have come at a better time!
