JetBlue Credit Card

I'll start by saying that we use our Disney Premier Visa for most of our bills and for all of our purchases. It's our go-to for everything. It is our one and only credit card and has been for years. We use our reward points to pay our DVC dues.

WDW has been our only Disney park. We can easily drive from the ATL area or fly on the cheap using SouthWest or JetBlue.

We are going to take a trip to DL in November. Airfare from ATL/LAX is considerably more than ATL/MCO. We are considering flying JetBlue or Southwest. Right now, the airfare for 3 people is $1,000 between ATL/LAX and $1,300 from ATL/SNA (Southwest only).

We will most certainly use JetBlue when we fly other places, like Boston and Orlando.

Here's my question: I received an email from JetBlue yesterday about 2 credit card offers.

1. JetBlue Card - Earn 10,000 points by spending $1,000 in 90 days. No annual fee. 3x points for all JetBlue purchases.
2. JetBlue Plus Card - Earn 40,000 points by spending $1,000 in 90 days. $99 annual fee. 1st bag checked free. 6x points for all JetBlue purchases. 5,000 bonus points each year.

The $1,000 in 90 days is doable with all of our purchases and bills.

All of the other offers (JetBlue, Southwest, other travel cards) is approx. 50,000 points for spending $3000 - $4000 in 3 months.

Anyone have either of these cards and think they're worth it?

Thanks.

You might consider asking these questions on the 'I love credit cards' thread. You should be able to do better if you follow some of the advice there.

We got the Jetblue offer with only 30,000 points. With the fee card, you also get 10% points back when you redeem points for a flight. You get one free checked bag for each person on your reservation. For us, the card is one we will keep.

I have the JetBlue plus card and use it all the time. We fly JetBlue enough that the $99 fee more than pays for itself with the checked bags. We tend to fly internally and stay for 2-3 weeks so just packing in a carry-on won't work for me.

I’d go with the Southwest Card. You can get the business card and either the plus or premier for 60k and 50k points. A buisness can be anything including if you ever sold on eBay. Once you have 110k points you get the companion pass meaning for the rest of the year that you earned all the points and the following year your companion flys for free. Make sure you get the cards in the same persons name and that you can meet the spend. Apply for the business card first then get the other card. You don’t have to do them at the same time if you can’t meet the spend on both at the same time, but if you can you would get the companion pass quicker.

I don’t know much about the jet blue card but I know they just had a card offering 60k points. You may want to look for that offer or wait until the high offer comes back.

It depends on what 30,000 points can get you. I have JetBlue points remaining on my account that I accumulated back with the old credit card. Plan was to use them for LAX-MCO yet I could rarely find RT tickets for one person under 25k. One time I was able to book one person with points and the others with a credit card and just make two reservations. Otherwise I've used the points a couple of times for me or my husband to fly to the Bay (THAT way my points went a lot further!).

And just a word of advice, don't forget about the other airports: Long Beach and Ontario. Long Beach is probably the easiest airport to get in and out of and is about the same distance as SNA (MAYBE an additional 5-10 minutes max). Ontario is about 30 minutes from DL or 45 with traffic (although the carpool lane really helps). There's Burbank airport too but that's a good 45 minutes without traffic up to an hour and a half. So when you're pricing out flights at least add the first 2 I had mentioned in your search. LAX is usually (not always) the cheapest but THEE biggest headache.

Just cancelled my SW card - great in the beginning for bonus and companion pass - but longer term you can do better elsewhere. I'll get it again in a year or so.

The JetBlue+ is a keeper. The 5000 anniversary miles makes the annual fee almost negligible, throw in the 10% miles refund on redemptions and free checked bags and this card is well worth keeping. Also, the ability to earn JetBlue miles through Amazon is great. (You don't need the credit card for that though).

I think both cards are great, but you should pick the one that works best for you, depending on your airline/flight preferences and which you would use most. If you can do the SW companion pass mentioned by @speedyfishy , that is a great deal! I have had the SW card for awhile but just cancelled it because I get better deals with the Chase Sapphire Reserve. That card earns 3x points on dining and travel and I can transfer the points over to SW. I also just got the JetBlue card and getting ready to book my first flights with the points. It looks like a keeper card for awhile too. If you go the JetBlue route, also check into the AMEX Member Rewards (MR) earning cards that can transfer points to JetBlue. One to consider would be the Personal Rewards Gold card, no annual fee the first year.

Definitely jump over to the "I love credit cards" thread. It looks intimidating at first, but everyone is very nice over there.

Have the JB Plus card and love it. Worth the $99 a year. We travel at least once a year and that more than pays for itself in the bag fee for the three of us making the yearly bonus miles a plus. I think both have it but the no foreign transaction fees are a bonus too.

We have the JetBlue plus card. It is the only card we use. We take at least 3/4 trips a year (different destinations). Another perk that hasn't been mentioned with the JetBlue plus card is that once you spend 50K on the card in a calendar year, you become Mosaic status. Mosaic status gives a lot of perks (no fees for flight changes, you can cancel your flight for any reason and immediately get your money back or points refunded, separate check in area, priority security lines, priority boarding, free alcoholic drinks on board, 2 checked bags free per person, luggage is tagged Mosaic and comes off the plane first, dedicated customer service line)
50K is not a hard number to reach when you can put college tuition on the card plus house repairs, insurance, vacations, etc...

DH and I got this card a few months ago when the bonus was 60,000 points for $1,000 spend. I plan to keep mine while he will likely downgrade his next year. We currently have flights booked to Orlando in August so I’ll let you know how we like it.

I just got this card the end of December when it was 60k. I prefer jetblue because being in Calif
they can go nonstop to Florida or New York where we often fly. No offense to Southwest but i passed
on their card because I hate stopovers/change of planes etc flying coast to coast. Also i'm spoiled by
jetblues free entertainment.

Keep in mind that you AND your companions get free checked bag. That to me was worth it. Their True
Blue program also allows Family pooling of miles which i love.

That being said i met my spend and i still have not gotten my points and i was told it could take 6 weeks grrr.
Good thing i don't need the points this year.
