Jet Blue - SEA to LAX (What do you think?)

Jet Blue has very low fares from SEA to LAX. I can't help but wonder how safe and reliable these cheap flights are. Have any of you flown Jet Blue with your loved ones and what was your experience? Would you recommend it? Am I better off paying more and going with AlaskaAir?

Thanks,

TD

Jet Blue is perfectly safe, but that said, we didn't enjoy the human interaction on our flights. Had two separate people being bratty about two entirely different things, in a way I had *never* experienced on Southwest. I won't be back on JB anytime soon.

But I am trying Virgin America in Nov, at least from Sea to San Diego (haven't booked return flight yet so that's up in the air) and got a good price and I'm very excited.

JetBlue, Virgin Air and Alaska airlines have all had $79 each way to LAX or LGB lately, out of Seattle.

They're all ok, but as packed as flights are these days, you're never going to have a wonderful flight, probably. We had a 1-1/2 hour delay on Alaska Air to SNA last March, a mechanical thing that had to be signed off by a lead mechanic.

Jet Blue sometimes has a few customer service issues, from what I've heard.

I think they're all pretty safe. DH is an engineer for Boeing, and he's commented on how many people don't realize the kind of hoops and checks the airlines go through to ensure safety, especially in this lawsuit-crazy world. Granted, you can't guarantee anything in life, there will always be those rare, terrible tragedies, but it is still true that statistically, flying is much safer than your daily commute in the car. (In the United States, that is. DH says, don't fly airlines in most of the African or South American countries. They don't have the FAA on their backs; they do very little maintenance and tend to transport, for example, goats in the cargo area. Seriously.)

We have flown jet blue a number of times and have never had any issues. I prefer to fly them over anyone else if they work with where I am traveling. Cheaper doesn't always mean worse. As far as Jetblue goes because they are small and trying to build up customers they are actually better than alot of the bigger airlines.

We were flying to Tenn. and American Air had the best prices. Mind I had never flown anything but Boeing airplanes. Imagine my surprise when the Lady told us the planes were the OLD TWA MD80's??? The md80's that had been grounded the whole week before!! It did not make us feel very safe!!

I'll choose jetblue out of long beach anytime. haven't tried jetblue out of lax yet.

it's usually just my dh & me, & the planes that i've been on always have seats arranged in 3s. so, dh has ailse, i reserved window & hope that there's no one in the middle. if someone shows up in the middle seat, then we offer up the window seat, so we can sit together. most times, it's been empty for us. it's harder to do when seats are in groups of 4/5.

jetblue also offers tvs for each seat, so the time always seems to fly by for us when going cross country, though your flight time will be short. they also leave the snacks/water out after serving them so you can get more without asking anytime.

I have flown 1x when jetblue was delayed a couple of hours b/c they were waiting for a pilot to come from another flight that was delayed. else, i've never had any problems with jetblue.

which ever airline you choose, hope your flight goes smoothly.

Only place Jet Blue will take me is JFK Airport. I don't EVVVer want to go there.

The post about the TV screens reminded me.

My screen didn't work. I blamed it on the satellite for awhile, b/c the picture would freeze while the sound went on. But then I noticed that hubby was watching the same show, and his was absolutely fine.

And then I gave up on it entirely even after my screen stopped freezing, b/c you can see each screen from each seat in your row, and what I wanted to watch was not appropriate for my 4 year old to see, and he could see it (and was actively TRYING to watch it).

So those screens do NOTHING for me.
