That's the weirdest thing. My email from JetBlue said the schedule would be extended through Oct. 13 on Sunday.

I think my email said the same thing. But when I took a look later, the 26th popped up. Guess we'll see tomorrow.

Kayak just quoted me Jet Blue pricing out of Reagan for our September trip. JB site, however, will not yet allow booking.

Good Morning,

I am planning my trip for October and while the leaving flight is now available to book (and at a pretty good price) my returning flight is after the cutoff. Does anybody know if there are any drawbacks of booking my leaving flight now then the returning flight when it opens up or should I just be paitent and wait until the flight schedule is extended?

Thanks.

Got my tickets today. $166 RT DCA to MCO.
That's great...about what I paid last year during October.

Unfortunately, this year we decided to fly out Friday instead of Saturday, and that decision looks to be costing me about $40 per person.

I am in the same boat, but I just bought the flight *to* Orlando because of the prices, but don't have my return flight. Last year, the best prices offered were right when they released the schedule, so that's why I pulled the trigger now.

I don't think there's a downside to booking two one way tickets instead of one round-trip. I did a bunch of searches on the JB website, and there never appeared to be any special pricing either way (two one ways or a single round-trip).

There could be an upside: JetBlue will give you credit in a JB account if your pricing goes down and total flight costs are less then your original ticket. With round-trip ticket the total cost had to go down...but with two one-ways, if either end of the flight get cheaper, you can get credit for just that one flight.

No downside at all. I booked our flights down, Sept 1, awhile ago. Just booked our flights home. Poor dh has to fly home on Sunday, the 8th and is paying $138 one way...MCO to BOS. I fly home on Tuesday, the 10th, MCO to PVD, and pay $70!!! Lucky me!!!! And it doesn't leave Orlando until 5:30ish...so I get a lot more time in the parks on departure day!!!!!

Thank you. Now if I can just get my DH to agree on the dates I can book :woohoo:

GrnMtnMan: Do you remember about how long after the dates were released that the prices jumped? I am going to try to book in the next few days. I'm hoping the prices will still be as good.

We normally go mid Sep (right after Labor Day), which is low travel time, but are going late Aug instead. I was afraid August airfare was going to be much higher. Ended up paying 282 RT pp for late August thru Labor Day. Had we stuck with mid Sept, we would've paid 327 RT. I'm thinking once we get closer to the travel dates Sep rates will drop more than Aug ever will..but I hope I end up with some Jetblue credit towards next year. Do rental cars for late August run about the same as Sept?

Not immediately....maybe a week or so, but I only vaguely recall.
Just took another look at my flight....price is up already, from $117 to $136.

I forgot to mention before: price might have been in the same ballpark at times, but it never got lower when I checked (which I did with some frequency since JetBlue provides credit if your fare goes down).

The last two years we've ended up around 200 with Alamo for a full size once, and a van the second time. This is for the last week of August into Labor Day weekend for 10 day rentals. On both occasions I found my best price about 6 week out from the trip but it's always a good idea to watch consistently.

It's hard to say what it will be like this August. The rates for our upcoming February trip have been astronomical.:crazy2:

There are some very good prices offered by Jet Blue in October from Newark, NJ for Tues. and Wed. flights ($192 round trip)! Saturday and Sun flights I noticed were priced a bit higher.

I really wanted to return on Sun 10/27, but schedule was only open until Sat 10/26, so we are coming back Sat 10/26 on the last flight. I am too afraid of booking one way tickets and being at the mercy of the fares to be announced later, as by then Saturday 10/26 will be more expensive and flying home Monday 10/28 is not an option.

BTW, I priced out Spirit for the same dates and they were offering $78 each way. Add $10 each way for seat assignments and $20 each way for a checked bag, the price was the same I just paid on Jet Blue!

Do they still do this? I thought they discontinued that policy. If so, I may purchase now and hope for a decrease. I am kicking myself for not buying when my fare was $114 and now it is $136. I think it may go down again since when I look at the flight there are only 4 seats that are taken.

I just got a credit for a price drop in August. I haven't seen anything about a policy change.
