Jet Blue Huge disappointment in March prices

I am really disappointed in the prices JB posted for March Break. They had increased the prices of the direct flights from SYR to over $300 each way. Everyone jumped on the non-direct flights and they are almost all over $200 each way. You can bet that the direct flights won't drop now because most people haven't even booked. BTW, I did not receive notification the flights had opened by email! Did anyone else? I ended up booking my DS and his DGF from Rochester to MCO both direct flights but much cheaper! I am really glad Dh and I will be going down for longer periods and driving now. JB is way too expensive and is taking advantage of Canadians flying during March Break. I know it is the law of supply and demand, but it still sucks! :sad1:

I love JetBlue but agree that their prices for school vacation weeks are very high. Two years ago we were flying to FLL to catch a cruise during President's Week (February break here). The fares came out at $399 each way :scared1:. Luckily we have a number of airports we can fly out of and we were able to go out of Newark for $599 rt, which was full fare refundable and all we could get on Continental. The only upside was that DD was under 2 and we got her for 50% off, which normally wouldn't be better than a supersaver but since it was full fare it helped. I feel your pain.

I think that there is a problem with their pricing right now and expect to see them fall over the next few days. Even in April a round trip ticket from BUF to MCO was $800 USD/ticket. Never have I paid that much and it's not March break.

Remember also that JetBlue has a good policy on price drops after you book. If the price falls you can call and receive a credit for a year on the difference.

If you desperately need the flights and can live with the price if you had to book now and watch for a price drop. If not then wait and understand that it may not go down, but may go up.

Cheers,

Brian

Just checked the JB ticket prices and the 2 tickets I purchased yesterday now are over $388 US more! Most of the indirect ROC flights are now in the high $200 range. SYR is worse! Most of the prices are breaking $300, even some of the indirect flights. Unfortunately, I don't think it is a pricing problem. Passengers are jumping on the prices and buying up the lower (?) priced seats. I won't give up hope that prices will drop and I can get a credit, (I registered with YAPTA) but it sure looks like people are willing to pay the high prices! I guess I will just monitor the situation and keep my fingers and toes crossed. :surfweb:

P.S. It looks like the increased pricing is just for the new release dates. a DF booked JB flights in early Dec from SYR to MCO for just over $200 return. One flight is direct too! :confused3

The fact that it's just the new released dates that are crazy expensive is what leads me to believe that you might see a drop to more normal prices for some dates atleast in the next few days. If memory serves me correct JetBlue may have done the same in schedule releases for the same time periods in the past to see what they can sell.

Even if they have to give back credit to some flights they still have your money and for those who don't catch it all the better for them.

Cheers,

Brian

I received an email from Jetblue yesterday that they released dates to the end of April. The last time they released new dates they sent me an email to tell me in advance. This time they told me after it happened. I am fortunate that I get two free flights to Tampa in March because I have seasons tickets for the Blue Jays. They fly me down for SPring Training. If not for that I may consider driving.

I also didn't receive advance notice from Jet Blue. They sent the notification on the 17th and I didn't receive it until the 18th! Go figure. The flights from ROC to MCO are still climbing! People are still buying tickets. Two direct return flights are now $418 more than what I paid on the 17th. :scared1: JB may drop flight prices in some cities, but for the last 5 years, they have managed to sell out their Canadian March Break flights from SYR. I have always booked as soon as the flights opened and they have never dropped in price! Sending :goodvibes to the rest of you and hoping you can receive a credit.

I booked my JB flight for March 22 through 31 the morning they released the flights. Got NS both ways for $109 each. Timing is everything. I was the first one. No one else had picked any of the seats on the planes. :woohoo:

What time did you stay up to DVCDadCNY ? I went to bed at 12:30 ( had to work the next day) and when I woke up at 6:15 the flights were already posted and already crazy expensive out of SYR. You picked a great date to fly out. By booking on March 22nd the JB flights dropped significantly, as the Can March breakers were back at school. Great price! :worship:

You remind me of last year this time when I had been waiting and watching the JB flights. I needed to fly Sat-Sat and wanted direct so knew it would be more. WJ was around $600 ea, Air Canada was ridiculous and even NW out of Detroit was about $200 more than I paid the year before.

I booked the morning the flights were released, at around 10am, and there were only 3 seats left at a $249 price (Plus tax so more like $320) and then had to grab another 2 seats for $299 - and this is US folks!! I paid around $400 CDN each per ticket.......

And I should mention that these seats NEVER went down in prcie - I watched it - they went up every week until the flight was sold out.

The prices through jetblue for that far out usually are that high. The prices will go up and down between now and then. You will prob find it drop to about 104.00 each way per person at least.

I booked this year from Rochester instead of Syracuse. Leaving on JB Mar 21 decided to not take a direct flight as price difference was huge. Hoping that the same thing happens this year as last. Last year I also booked non direct flight but JB changed our flight time, so I called them and asked very nicely if they would switch our flights to the non stop and she did. Over the next month the flights went down so I ended ups with $335.50 in credits to use this time. My JB flights ended up costing me only $169.00 including taxes for the four of us.

Coming home I booked Airtran for Easter Sunday return nonstop at $173.00 each. So I am pretty happy with my flight prices.

I will use Yapta again to track my flight prices this year.. Hoping for some credits to use again.
