I know that Jet Blue has been getting a pretty bad rap lately but I found a decent deal on a non-stop flight to MCO from an airport that is only 2 hours from us.

My question is do they have seat selection? Do they offer preboarding for families with children (we will be travelling with 3 under 3)? Have families with children had good experiences with them? We've always travelled Southwest to MCO & they have been amazing.

Thanks. :)

if you book online, you can actually see a layout of the plane and which seats are available. they also do preboarding for families with small children. just make sure to bring some of their favorite food & drinks as Jetblue offers limited fare...

even with the recent problem, a great airline ...I will continue to purchase their services

Yes, as sother have said, you can choose your seats when you book and they do have preboarding. We have only flown Jet Blue and our kids started when they were 3 & 4 and loved it. We are flying Jet Blue on Friday to MCO and the kids, now 6 & 7, love the snack choices and tvs at each seat. :goodvibes

Note that if the kids have their own headphones, bring them. They'll probably like theirs better than the ones you buy from Jet Blue

If I remember correctly from last year, the preboard announcement was for children 18 months or under. The first flight they let anyone with a child preboard. The way home they adhered to the announcement and told some people no. That made me chuckle since one family had kids no younger than 9 (a guess). I was glad they had to stand back and wait since I had told our kids that we didn't qualify to preboard and was kinda irked about the lax rules on the way down.
Unless I had a car seat to set up, I don't understand wanting to preboard. Just makes the wait to take off seem even longer. The cool TVs don't work until we get in the air.
Now if I had to compete for a seat, like on some other airlines, then I would be looking for a reason to preboard.
I love Jetblue.

Thanks everyone! JetBlue sounds like a great deal then. We prefer to preboard b/c the boys are so young, it is just easier sorting everything around when no one else is on the plane.

Another vote for JetBlue! I flew them for the first time last October to MCO and loved it. Also, they have at least 1 kids channel on the TV. My niece & nephew watched TV the whole way and really enjoyed the flight. It was their first flight and they thought it was just like another ride! I had such a great experience that I am flying them again for my trip in May.

I just flew JetBlue Jan.31 & Feb.9 from EWR to MCO. I had a good experience with them and it was the first time I used them as well. I usually fly Southwest out of PHL, but JetBlue had better prices and I had to purchase 7 tickets. They had a good selection of snacks & beverages (unlimited/complimentary) and you can view the list of what they offer on their website. They supply throw away headphones at NO charge as well. I did preboard on both flights because I have quadruplets that are 3 years old. All 7 of us in our party were able to preboard together with NO problems. Yes, You also get to choose your seats right away online when you book. I had a good experience and will fly JetBlue over Southwest again IF the price is right. I hope this helps.

We love JetBlue and will be flying with them in April. We have 2 kids and love being able to pick our seats online and preboard. Now when we have flown they did the announcement for families with infants to preboard. My youngest was 3 but we had his stroller. They let us preboard because we had to gate check the stroller. I was expecting to wait like everyone else but I guess since the gate checking took an extra few minutes they rathered we preboard instead of holding anybody up.

The kids had a ball with the tv's. We found Nikelodeon, they had the animal planet which DS loved! It is a great distraction. They gave you a choice of a snack, the kids loved the chocolate chip cookies and they were more than happy to give us extra! They had milk, juice, water and sodas for drinks. The attendants were so nice and helpful. We really have had great experiences even when our flight was delayed once for 3+ hours! We will most likely stick with JetBlue. They now fly from an airport that is 20 minutes from our house. They also seem to have the best fares for the times we go.

Another vote for JetBlue. We have flown it to NYC from Los Angeles (Long Beach) and to Vegas and Oakland, CA also. It flies out of a more convenient airport, has newer planes, you have assigned seats, preboarding, friendly staff and those TVs for the kids are a God-send.

Do you really want to preboard with the kids? We thought that being "cooped" up in the plane was long enough for our daughter (2 yo). So, I preboarded (no problem doing this in Syracuse, NY) with all of our carryons and got everything situated. At the last possible time, hubby brought the kids aboard. That seemed to work well for us.
