This is are first time flying on Jet Blue. Their carry on bag size is 22 inches tall and 14 inches wide. We have bags that fit Southwest's standards; our old bags are 22.5 inches tall and 10 inches wide.

Will we have to check them, and pay the $35 per bag fee? Should I buy new bags over .5 inches?

Thank you for your advice.

I only fly jet blue and they have never tried to size up my carry on. I have seen some pretty big bags going on also.

Just make sure you have the corresponding fare for check-on bags. I think as of August, JB was no longer allowing carry-on bags with their Blue Basic fare. You have to have Blue/Blue Extra. If you show up with Blue Basic they WILL make you pay at the gate.

I wouldn't worry about it. I've never been on a Jetblue flight and seen them check someone's bag for size, and I've seen some bags that are pretty big and definitely look over the size limit.

As PP mentioned, just make sure you have a carry-on included in your fare - their cheapest fares no longer include them.
