Jersey Shore does Beach Club! An Aug PTR! Tangled Up Movie Night 6/19***

Thanks for joining!! There is actually a huge thread on the family boards that everyone posts their ideas on Disney Movie Nights Thread its has tons of pics too. Your signature is adorable, your boys look so sweet! I see you stayed at AoA, how was it? I hear the food court is great there (Jees...I must have food issues, all my posts include food! LoL) The theming @ AoA looks amazing!

Can you believe I have never eaten there? I think my Dad did last time, he ran in and got Mac and Cheese and I remember him saying it was really good, a lot different from the others on property. Another menu I will have to look at on allears.

We really, really loved AOA was so adorable and fun!! I so wish LM rooms were included in FD.... or we would be back at AOA for this trip.
Thank you so much for steering me to the thread on the movie nights!! That is right up my alley :) I love doing stuff like that!! I can't wait to plan one for next weekend. Yes, yes try Sunshine seasons it is yummy. Not really a dining 'experience' but really good food!

Thanks for joining!!! Its so exciting, I read that the bakery in France opens when FW opens in the morning, I wonder how long it would take us to get there for a pastry in the AM for breakfast haha. Do you have your ADRs made up for your stay?

I just made our last night's ADR yesterday-we got into Ohana! Very excited to finally try this! We have a very late seating but will be there during Wishes so my next hope is that we have a window table to see it all. :thumbsup2
My son who is a CP currently has been twice to Ohana since he started his program and assured me that even picky-eater dd will like it. The rest of us will LOVE it I know.

Looking forward to hearing where you have ADR's...

I have never eaten there for dinner, only breakfast, but the breakfast is always a must do for us, we love lilo and stitch. I hope that you will get a view to see Wishes, that would be so nice!!

I am going to preface this by saying this week has been crazy, with class mom stuff, memorial day, and just getting ready for the end of the school year, but on Tuesday 5/28, something utterly amazing happened! And....its not even Disney related hahaha! As you know I live at the Jersey Shore, in a town heavily impacted by Hurricane Sandy. The week before Memorial Day there was "speculation" that President Obama may make an appearance in Point Pleasant, on the boardwalk...this is where I live, where I "run" every morning. Of course, it was just speculation and rumors. Details would not be revealed by the secret service about the President's whereabouts, everyone just knew he would be making a speech in Asbury Park because tickets were being sold for that, and my mom (who lives 2 towns over) received a call that a major roadway would be closed from 10am-2pm for the safety of the President's motorcade.

So Tuesday morning came around, I dropped Alanna off at school, came home to see if Scott wanted to go for a "run" with me because he was off. He said he would go. We went up to the boardwalk and all the stands were open and the attendants were cleaning them frantically, when we got to the end by the aquarium there was about 20 or so young strapping men....all dressed in khaki pants and nice button down shirts, the chatter from the construction workers who have been working on the homes at the end of the boardwalk about the President coming made me super excited! I knew he was coming!!! As we walked back people started showing up and were waiting around. We walked back to the other end of the boardwalk and moved our car a little closer and then walked back by the aquarium where the men with the khakis were hanging out. As we stood there we began to notice ear pieces in their ears...then we realized...these were not young democrats hoping that Obama would make a stop in Point Pleasant...these were members of the secret service!

We waited...and waited. A man dressed in shorts and a red polo and flip flops kept coming back and forth to talk to the man who is currently making the tallest sand castle, he kept pulling him aside and whispering in his ear. Then we noticed state troopers lined up the beach.

Kids were coming up because the aquarium does tons of field trips everyday, and these kids had to be moved in there quickly because he was coming and everyone had to be off the boardwalk. After an hour of waiting, it began to rain and we were asked to move by secret service so we went to an area they began to rope off. We stood there for a while until 3 agents approached us and said we needed to move again. But before they moved us, and 2 families, they wanded and searched us!! They moved us over across the way where the football throw is. We stood in front of that stand. 10 minutes later the man with the red polo and flip flops comes up wearing a suit and tie! Another secret service agent. He begins talking to us, and asking us where we were all from, they were all VERY nice! Then the snipers come and were getting on rooftops, dogs sniffing out garbage cans and lockers...all very exciting!!!

Then....the red polo flip flop, now nicely dressed secret service agent tells us...he is going to come up, go to the sand castle and then he is coming over here! And to watch out because he has a great arm! Then they warned us to keep our hands out of our pockets. I started getting nervous...the President was coming over to the stand to play Touchdown Fever...the stand I am currently standing in front of...no stinking way!!!

Then we hear everyone screaming and clapping, the President is coming!! He walked up the ramp and through the little store and onto the boardwalk.

He walked over to see the sand castle...and then ....OMG OMG..he was walking towards us!!

Now at this moment, I am thinking...I look like poop...I am wearing sweatpants and a hoodie, and I am soaked from the rain, and I am not wearing a stitch of make up because after all....I just came up for my "run". Then I start thinking...just say "Hi Mr. President". I hear Scott saying Hello and shaking hands, then President Obama comes and shakes my hands and asks me my name and says its nice to meet you. I couldn't believe it!! Then I remembered...Govenor Christie was behind him, so I got to shake his hand too. He commented on my hoodie, my alma mater.

After they shake our hands (the same 3 groups that were wanded) the President and Gov, Christie played Touchdown fever. Pres. Obama did not make any in, but Gov. Christie made it through on the first shot. Resulting in this iconic picture that my husband is now a part of...it was also made photo of the day on the white house web page.

After their fun with Touchdown fever....the duo moved down the line to wave and shake hands with others. I was still pretty shocked...I still can't believe it! I just wished Alanna would have been there. I would have kept her home if I knew for sure that he was going to be there, but again, it was all rumor until Tuesday morning.

We waited for so long, and it only lasted about 25 minutes, then everyone left...we walked back to our car and I called my family and sent them pics. When we got home I didn't know if I could pull the Muppet Movie night off....but I was sure gonna give it a go....

.....to be continued......(because I am a little tired haha)

O...here is the video of the President I took with my phone

WOW!! What a neat opportunity to shake hands with the president! :goodvibes

Can't wait to hear how your movie night went! I am thinking of starting my movie nights this week :)

So that night I wasn't sure (after all the excitement!) if the whole Muppet Movie Night was going to happen....but then I thought about it and figured it was doable, just wouldn't be on such a big scale compared to the others. So I quickly printed a menu up and started dinner.

Scott never saw The Muppets, Alanna and I watched it when he was working late one night. He thought it was a little too "hokey" for him, but I love Kermit and Walter's a cute character lol.

I thought I had a picture of the chicken...but I guess I don't. It was basically grilled chicken that I marinaded over night in lime juice, oil, garlic, and some salt and pepper. Then I made Bobby Flay's cilantro sauce (which looks like pesto, its really green!) and put it over the chicken. So we had our "green chicken".

After the movie we made our own muppets, I wasn't sure how I was going to pull this off, but then I found a make your own muppet website (you can actually make it, they assemble it and send it to you for like $100, but obviously we weren't going to place the order haha), we just made them on the laptop and made some funny combos.
Here was Scott's...it kinda resembles him a little hahaaha

and here is Alanna's

They had fun with that.
And of course Alanna picked out our next movie night.

TANGLED!!!
I am not sure when we will have our next movie night. I have been super busy with the last few weeks of school. Alanna's last day is the 18th...I can't wait! This year seemed to drag on and on and on! I think it was because we had like no days off due to Sandy...we didn't have an Easter/Spring break. So hopefully next week Tangled will happen...if not...the next!
Happy Planning!

I love your muppet movie!!! Adorable. The website is really neat. I can not wait to see what you do for Tangled! How are you plans coming?? Are you all getting super excited?!

We might have to give it a go. What CS do you like @ Epcot? Every year I say I am going to get to Flame Tree BBQ @ AK and I never do, one day I will though lol.

You know, the last two times we have been to Disney, we only spent maybe 2 hours at Epcot. last year, the weather was so bad and the time before, our son was soooo irritable bc we traveled the whole day and we left. I remember a CS place in Mexico that is pretty good and last year we ate at the restaurant that is in the building with Soarin and Garden Grill... Is it Sunshine Seasons?

Yes!!! Super excited!!! We got our maps today in the mail! Made my day bc its pretty nasty here, we are getting the outskirts of TS Andrea so the rain has just made today a gloomy day.
Our plans are coming along, I hope to sit down maybe next Monday and make the daily plans. Alanna's big school party will be done with (I am stressing over this, we are serving 100 kids hots dogs and having a big carnival type theme) and I could shift the focus more on the trip. O and I made a payment today on the trip so that always adds to the excitement!

Did you start your movie nights yet?
I think we are going to do Tangled Monday, I just found out Hubby is off.

I love Mexico <3.
You are the second person who has recommended Sunshine Seasons, and I cannot believe that I have never eaten there in all my trips!! I am going to have to hit it up for sure this time.

By chance, I was surfing the net on Saturday morning (ugh, Alanna kills me, she does NOT sleep in and was up since 6:30 on Saturday, great for Disney bc we are there for RD, but not so great for weekends when you want to sleep in! LoL) and found that Lowes was doing a kids workshop and the craft would be Monster's Inc wooden puppet type things. So I signed Alanna up to do it on Sunday, it was cute, and she did it all by herself. It was great for her age group b/c I didn't have to really do anything and she took pride in knowing she did it on her own. Here are some pics!

They had tables set up, but they were just plastic folding tables, so the guy told us its easier to do it on the floor so the nails go in with ease.
She made both Mike and Sulley, here she is with Mike!

She got to keep her apron and goggles and they gave her a badge to iron on to her apron.

Lowe's is also having another one the weekend of June 22nd I believe it is. Saturday its 10AM and Sunday 2PM. But it's a scare box, so I registered her for the Sunday one. You can register on their site and its free.
Hubs was not too happy about this (haha he works for the competition!) so when we got home he told us we have to go to his work in July because their workshop for kids is going to be based on Despicable Me. I should have thrown that in our movie night shell box bc we are doing US/IoA...maybe I will, seems like we have done more than I anticipated at this point.

Last night we did our Tangled Movie Night! I will have to load up our pics for that one!

I love, love, love the photos of Alanna building! How stinkin fun is that. Do you have any details for the workshop? Like the ages? Is it totally free. That is so neat what a fun way to spend a day!

Is Alanna excited to see the new Monsters Inc?? My Carter is so excited. But sadly the release weekend we are booked solid with tball picnics and serving at church. Hopefully we can make it the following weekend! Can not wait to see your Tangled photos :):goodvibes

The workshop is completely free, you do have to register on the Lowe's website though for it b/c I guess they have a certain number of crafts that they are given. When I was there the kids looked to be between the ages of 3-10, and of course you can help them, I don't really think there is a set age that they have to be in order to participate.
Yes! We are all so excited!! I just found out Scott is off that Friday so maybe we could get in then...I hope so! We aren't real movie goers, we usually just wait for them to come out on DVD, but we always make our yearly pilgrimage in June to see the new Pixar release hahaha.

Unfortunatley I have been super busy and haven't been able to update. But FINALLY school is out for the SUMMER!! Wooohooo and maybe things can slow down a bit. That last month of school was a killer, I am pretty sure I was at Alanna's school every other day doing something. I should have just pitched a tent. One day I came out (after delivering the kids ice pops for their field day) to my car being damaged....a hit and run. Clearly someone tried to make a K-turn and backed into the driver's side, caused some damage right above my tire :furious: not cool! And one morning I sat outside, in the rain, for 2 hours, waiting to register her for some recreation activities for the summer. She will be taking piano lessons, drama lessons, and soccer this summer. Another morning was the school play, And another morning the 2nd grade had a huge carnival which had to be held indoors, and we had to cook over 200 hot dogs (the smell was killing me!!!!) and then serve all 100 of them food and then do activities with them.

So...here we are...56 days away from the magic! And now I can start focusing on planning out our daily itinerary and the drive down. And I can share with you our Tangled Night!

We love Mother Gothel!!! She is hilarious!!!

The food!!! NomNomNom!

Our tablescape

We found the paperlanterns for under $2 (for all 3) at Target on an end cap on clearance. They actually were so cute b/c they had the battery operated LED lights, and they looked like they were flickering.

Our Craft, which was a Tangled Tower, I cut a noodle from the dollar tree in half and then cut a little of the top off and glued/toothpicked the gold plate on and the topper. And I found a clip (I guess for when little girls want to "put extensions" in their hair) with hair on it at dollar tree that we clipped onto the tower.

And our pascal's peach cobler....which was just eh.

When Alanna picked from the shell box...she ended up with Pocahontas, but I think we may put that on hold and just do Monster's Inc in honor of Monster's University....since we are actually going to see it on Friday. Scott's off, so we plan on going earlier in the day so hopefully its not too crazy.

Hello! Hope you are enjoying settleing into summer now! Your Tangled night seems so fun!

I just wanted to let you know we just got back from a quick stay at the BC and we absoltuely LOVED it!! OMG! It was so great to walk to EP and boat to DHS! My DS loved loved the pool (I think we spent as much time in the pool as the parks!).

Have fun counting down!
