Heading down in October, 2 couples (22-25 year olds) and we are looking for some places outside of PI to go grab some drinks (after the park closes at 7:mad: ) in a decent atmosphere. Ive heard jelly rolls is a good time with great entertainment. Does anyone know the cover charge to get in? Any and all suggestion regarding other watering holes are welcome!

$10 cover, IIRC. Fun, but loud, keep that in mind.

Scat Cat Lounge, in Port Orleans Riverside, is also quite nice, especially when they have music. No cover. Each of the monorail hotels also has a lounge--I prefer the "Outer Rim" at the Contemporary of the three, but all are relaxing.

It's a great bar to drink, sing, drink, etc. - dueling piano bar that's all request and has some extremely talented piano players.

Jellyrolls is a MUST for me every trip! Taking my friends there this weekend for their first time - I CAN"T WAIT!!! :cool1:

It is a must for me also! Lots of fun and unlike PI it's 21 and over!

and tigger..... waaaaa tell Michael I said Hi and I'll see him soon;)

Does any one know what time things get started @ JR? We tried to do PI last year, put our DS5 in kid's club @ WL, had to leave to go get him at 12. The clubs were barely open!:sad2:

It opens at 8, although it doesn't start going until around 9, but I've noticed that by 9:30, it's hard to get a table. If you want a table up front, get there early.

Honestly, I didn't like Jellyrolls at all, especially solo. Too smoky, drinks were rotten (unless you like beer...don't try for wine, or anything that ends in -tini). Music was very good, though, and lots of fun was had by the groups in the front, but solo? I sat in the back at the bar, all by my lonesome, and nobody joined me until close to closing time. I'm not a shy person at all, but there were no solo or small groups of people to engage in conversation all evening, only tight-knit groups of 4 or more. It was so loud that even if there were people I could have approached, no conversing could be done.

We all enjoyed the piano players, and want to go back, but are wondering...will smoking still be allowed at Jellyrolls after 6/1?:confused3

I was there about 10 days ago, and spoke to the guy at the front door. He told me that since they're not owned by Disney, they will not have to follow the new "non-smoking" rule. It will be interesting to see if it holds true.

PI just turned to 21 and over. :) (Except Adventurer's Club and Comedy Warehouse.)

Scat Cat Lounge, in Port Orleans Riverside, is also quite nice, especially when they have music.

The Scat Cat Lounge is not at Riverside, it's at Port Orleans French Quarter. Solo artist Elliot Dyson has performed there for at least the past two years or so, and his music is enjoyable. (Think "Rockin' Robin," and "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown.") He is usually on hand Thursdays through Saturdays.

As for Jelly Rolls, the last, and only, time I spent an evening there I found one of the two piano players to be quite rude and arrogant. I won't be stopping there again.

Enjoy.

Sorry if this is a little off topic but how do you get back from the Boardwalk to POP (or any other resort for that matter) late at night, is it taxi time?:car:

My wife and I always go to JR when we visit from Texas. We were there on May 20th. 4 great piano players starting at 8:00 with 2 in hourly shifts. Wife is sensitive to smoke so we sat in back at table by door and had no problem with good air flow. Took cab from Boardwalk Inn entry to POFQ for $7.00 Worth every penny after day of parks and JR.

I've had a great time solo at JR. It does tend to be a bit smoky, but not unbearable. I normally stay at BWV, so it is a quick walk back to the room. The piano players are very good, the staff very friendly, but the place can get packed when there are conventions at the Swan/Dolphin. If there are conventions going on, you must have a seat by 9-10. Around 11 the place will become wall to wall when the conventioneers close down their open bars. Some of the convention goers are very friendly and then some of then are just blotto by the time they arrive. Once the place gets packed, it can get a little crazy so it's usually time for me to hit the boardwalk. It's a fun place and the entertainment is great. You just never know if it's going to be dead or packed. It really varies from nite to nite ( even hour to hour ). Ed
