Spotlight please.....open the curtain.....let's start this show, I mean trip report!
Hey Guys and Gals...I am Jeff from the beautiful city of Asheville, NC. I am so happy to be sharing my 1st ever trip report with you all! I hope I don't bore anyone, if I do, sorry. I will try to keep this entertaining and exciting. So, let's get started....shall we?
Ok..the cast...
Me, Jeff. I just turned 37. I work in the hospitality field and been doing it for about 10 years now. Asheville is known for its hospitality and being a very open minded city which brought me here. When I moved here, I met the most wonderful, fun loving, man of my dreams.....
And his name is Jon, 39. He was born and raised in Asheville, so he's my mountain man. I love him. If it wasn't for him, I would not be here right now giving you all this trip report. Jon has been a hair stylist, artist of hair design...whatever you want to call it, for about 20 years. He would kill me right now if I called him as a "beautician." He hates being called that....anyway....he is great at what he does and works very hard. So this Disney Vacation was just what he and I both needed.....
Here is our pic from our honeymoon back in March....I will let you guess who is who...
We have been together for about 4 years and we tied the knot in March 2008....this WDW trip was like a 2nd honeymoon, within a year!
Why Disney? Good question....it just happend. We were scheduled to go to Vegas, but I asked Jon one day...out of the blue...."Let's go to Disney!" Before I knew it, I was googling everything to find out more about WDW. I found this board and became hooked.
I bought every book published that was about planning WDW trips and they were helpful, but not as helpful as this board. You guys had so much to share, esp. Evilqueen! So I dedicate this trip report to him...
Also, Jon has many clients that are Disney freaks and they had a lot tips too....Jon would come home from a hard's day work and say something to me that a client suggested as I was at the laptop deciding where to make ADRs......so I had plenty of resources!
Okay...so here we go with Day 1....
We drove from Asheville. The total trip for us was 610 miles. Not bad. I could have done it all in a day, but we made an overnight spot in Kingsland, GA. We did arrive Sunday afternoon at around 1pm. It was so nice to see to gates to the most happiest place on earth.....
We had made it! After driving that awlful construction in Jacksonville, it was good to see this!
We followed the signs to our resort which was SSR. What a huge place! A very nice place and it's not as heavily themed as most of the resorts, but we both were pleased. Check In was very fast, freindly and smooth. Myra had the pleasure of showing us 1st timers what we needed to know. Very nice gal! She gave us our keys, gave us our DDP info, and maps. We were ready to go see our home for the next 7 days. She gave us our studio room at the Carousel, and it was a good location, right near the bus stop! Here are some pics of the building...
Thank God for the elevators, we were on the 4th floor. We had so much baggage. Overall, the room and location were great! We were hardly in the room. The room had all the things we needed and thank goodness for the coffee maker, Jon is a coffee addict and can't operate without a dark brew with 2 splenda packets and creamer.
After unloading our barge and lots of unpacking......we decided to head over to the MK....which will be coming up next so stay tuned!!!
