Jedis, Pirates and Extended Family! A May/June 2012 TR Update: Lunch @ H&V

After lunch we headed out of World Showcase and into Future World. It was finally time to ride Soarin! We got into the fastpass line and waited probably 20 minutes or so.
meganspics842-1.jpg

Our flight was really fun as always. I love the smells on this ride and of course Disneyland!

After Soarin we weren't sure what to do next. I asked Anthony if he wanted to ride Mission Space. Anthony is really into space stuff and says he wants to be an astronaut when he grows up so I thought he would really like it. Anthony very adamantly said, "I'm not riding Mission Space until I'm 10." Okaaaay. :lmao: Anthony said he wanted to ride Soarin again. Sorry Ant, the wait is 80 minutes and there are no FPs left. I asked him if he wanted to do Living with the Land or the Circle of Life movie and he said no so we headed out of the Land building.

I asked Anthony if he wanted to ride Nemo or watch Turtle Talk and he said no. I have still never seen Turtle Talk with Crush!:confused3 Hopefully next time. Anthony said he wanted to do Spaceship Earth again so we headed that way. While we were walking he changed his mind and said, "I guess I'll do Mission Space before I'm 10."

I have never rode Mission Space before so I wasn't sure what to expect. I knew one thing though, Green Team for us!

meganspics843-1.jpg

meganspics844-1.jpg

This was the first and only ride Anthony was measured for. We got our Green Team launch tickets and headed into the line.

meganspics845-1.jpg

meganspics847-1.jpg

meganspics846-1.jpg

As we were waiting in line the motion sickness warnings kept being repeated which were making me a little bit nervous. I have never been sick on a ride before *knock on wood* but as I have been getting older, rides have been bothering me more. But we were doing green team so everything should be fine, right?

We got into the briefing room and watched the film. The film kept talking about claustrophobia and motion sickness. Wait a minute, I thought this was Green Team?

We were lead to our places and we were with a dad and his young daughter. Anthony was assigned to be the pilot and I was the navigator. We walked into our space ships where there were barf bags?!? The dad with us said, "What is this ride?":lmao: I was starting to get very nervous!

The ride started and we journeyed to Mars. It wasn't bad at all and I felt silly for being nervous. When we walked off the ride Anthony said it was awesome and we had to go again! We got back in line for another mission to Mars.
meganspics848-1.jpg

This time we were with an older couple and Anthony and I got the same jobs. When the ride started and we were launching off Anthony grabbed the joystick and yelled, "Let's DO THIS!" :rotfl2: It was so funny and I think the couple with us got a kick out of riding with Anthony. When we got off the ride they thanked him for being such a good pilot.

When we got off Mission Space for the second time Chad texted me that he was headed to get us. Tonight was Chad and I's date night and the kids were going to spend the night with my parents. I asked Anthony if he wanted to do one more ride and he said Figment. I was not thrilled because Figment was on the other side of Future World. So I was a bad mom and convinced Ant to do Spaceship Earth instead.

We walked up to SE and the line was super long. Chad would have been waiting on us for at least 20 minutes and I knew he wouldn't be happy about that. So I told Anthony Daddy was almost here and we needed to leave. This is when he started to whine and use the "baby whiny voice." If you have or have ever had a 4/5 year old or just know a 4/5 year old you probably know the baby, whiny voice. :lmao: Anyways he started talking about Figment. He chanted "Figment, Figment, Figment," in the baby voice all the way out of Epcot! I got some laughs from the CMs that we walked by! When I told Anthony he was spending the night with his cousins he forgot about Figment and was ready to go. But I felt bad that I didn't just walk him over there to ride it one more time.:sad2:

We went to the guest pick up area and Anthony opened his Vinlymations...
meganspics849-1.jpg

and checked out his Stitch game.
meganspics850-1.jpg

Then we saw Chad pull up and we headed to CBR.

Anthony and I had such a great day at Epcot together. When I asked Anthony later what his favorite day at Disney was he said, "The day me and you were at Epcot." I'm so glad we were able to make such special memories together!:goodvibes

Up next: Megan and Chad have a date night at Disney!

Love the updates!

So much to comment on, I hope I don't forget anything.

Your lunch at Chefs looks really good! When I initially had an ADR to have dinner there, I was really looking forward to trying the soup. Now, you have me rethinking my decision to cancel it. :rotfl:

I love that y'all got to meet Remy! So fun!

And I'm glad Anthony was brave enough to try Mission Space. I have not done that ride in years. I can ride roller coasters all day long but that thing made me feel whoozy. This was back in 2004, so I don't know if they had the green/orange teams then. If so, we were definitely on orange.

I definitely know what you mean by the baby whiny voice. :sad2: Drives me nuts when Reid starts with it. I tell him I won't talk to him until he talks to me like a big boy. And I ignore him until he talks in a real voice. I'm a mean mommy like that though. I'm glad you were able to get him focused on the fun to be had that night with his cousins though. :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about date night!

I had to laugh about y'all youtubing Disney fireworks for the 4th of July. We didn't go anywhere either to watch any. But, there were tons of people doing fireworks (really big ones, too) in our neighborhood & that one that connects to ours. Ed & I ended up going outside to watch them. Sure enough, Reid quickly came outside too (he had been in bed). So, we all watched them outside with some of our neighbors. Reid did okay. He just clung to me tightly but said he enjoyed them. He never wants to watch them at Disney because of the noise level. I asked him since he liked them if he would watch them at Disney. He said they're too loud at Disney. But, he asked if I would bring him some headphones. So, I guess I'll consider that since I do want to watch some fireworks this year.

I'm glad to hear your review on Spiderman. We were thinking of taking Reid. I've heard the movie is really good. But, I'm glad to hear what Anthony thought - about it being long & Peter not being Spiderman for the 1st half or whatever. I'm thinking we may wait until that one is one DVD & can watch at home.

If I don't talk to you before y'all leave for the weekend - have a safe & fun time!

Happy belated 4th!

Maddie was bored during the fireworks we saw on the 3rd. I asked why and she said "they're not the same as the fireworks at Disney". So, I've ruined fireworks for her. We went to see Brave yesterday to beat the heat, it was cute!

Les Chefs looks amazing. I have to book it one of these days since I'm a big french onion soup fan, but you aren't the first one who's said that it was a long meal. That'd be ok for a nice adult dinner, but for a meal with kids? Might be tough. I'd love to see Remy though!

Good for Anthony for trying Mission Space! Maddie isn't tall enough yet, so we haven't done it in a long time. I'm so glad that he enjoyed it!

OH that whiny voice, I know it well. Don't feel guilty about steering him away from a 4th (right?) ride on Figment. I really think that's stuff only moms remember. Anthony will probably just remember that he had a great day with his mom! :goodvibes

What a great update! I'm happy that you didn't have to make use of the barf bags in the Mission Space capsules. I love it when we are on a ride with a kid as enthusiastic as Anthony was. It makes for such a great time.

Thank You!

Your lunch at Chefs looks really good! When I initially had an ADR to have dinner there, I was really looking forward to trying the soup. Now, you have me rethinking my decision to cancel it. :rotfl:

Lunch was good! The soup was the best part. I don't think I would rearrange to go to Chefs, I would wait and try it next time.:thumbsup2 You cancelled this for Citricos, right? I would keep that, I would love to try a signature!

I love that y'all got to meet Remy! So fun!

Remy is super cute!

And I'm glad Anthony was brave enough to try Mission Space. I have not done that ride in years. I can ride roller coasters all day long but that thing made me feel whoozy. This was back in 2004, so I don't know if they had the green/orange teams then. If so, we were definitely on orange.

There was NO WAY I was trying orange!:lmao: Green wasn't that bad so I may try it out next time though. I would want to ride it myself first before I put Anthony on it.

:thumbsup2

Oh, I ignore Anthony when he's talking like that too. I usually tell him I can't understand him until he can speak clearly in his regular voice. I don't think that's mean at all, if it is I'm mean too! Once he heard he was spending the night with his cousins he was happy. He was excited for them to all play his new Stitch game.

Can't wait to hear about date night!

It was fun! I can't wait to write about that night.

But, he asked if I would bring him some headphones. So, I guess I'll consider that since I do want to watch some fireworks this year.

There were a lot of people doing fireworks in our neighborhood too. The bottle rocket type fireworks are illegal in Virginia, yet tons of people in our neighborhood always have them. Anthony watched them with me for a while but they were really hard to see. We could sure hear them though! Tessa wanted nothing to do with it. She watched a little of the Disney ones though.

The fireworks at Disney are loud. The only time my kids watched them this time was on the Pirate and Pals cruise so you could just hear the music. They both thought they were too loud outside last night. I think the headphones are a great idea. I hope you get to watch some this year, especially HalloWishes!

It was definitely a good movie just maybe a little over this age group for the first half. Anthony's not real interested in being a teenager which was the first half of the movie. They also have him trying to find out about his dad at the beginning which is over Ant's head as well. The second half though Anthony didn't say a word because he was mesmerized by Spidey. I think the DVD is a good idea. You could always try the Spiderman from before too to see if Reid likes it. If he gets through the beginning of that movie fine he would probably be ok. Even though I think this movie took longer to get going than that one did.

If I don't talk to you before y'all leave for the weekend - have a safe & fun time!

Thanks! We are going to see Chad's family which is always interesting.:lmao: There is usually some kind of craziness going on!

Happy belated 4th!

Maddie was bored during the fireworks we saw on the 3rd. I asked why and she said "they're not the same as the fireworks at Disney". So, I've ruined fireworks for her. We went to see Brave yesterday to beat the heat, it was cute!

That's too funny!:lmao: I feel the same way though...Disney fireworks are the best! I really liked Brave, I may be going with Chad's cousin to see it this weekend because she wants to go. That's why we went to the movies too, to get out of the heat! I was outside with the kids in the kiddie pool for an hour and a half and I was done! We needed to do something inside with a/c! Of course Chad was inside that whole time dozing...

Les Chefs looks amazing. I have to book it one of these days since I'm a big french onion soup fan, but you aren't the first one who's said that it was a long meal. That'd be ok for a nice adult dinner, but for a meal with kids? Might be tough. I'd love to see Remy though!

Yeah, it was definitely long. Anthony did pretty well but there is NO WAY Tessa could have sat for an hour and forty-five minute meal.:sad2: Remy is adorable though!

Good for Anthony for trying Mission Space! Maddie isn't tall enough yet, so we haven't done it in a long time. I'm so glad that he enjoyed it!

He did really like it! Green is really not bad but I would want to try Orange first before I put him on it.

I'm sure he didn't really care about not riding Figment. And yes, it would have been the 4th time! My patience had run out!:rotfl2:

What a great update! I'm happy that you didn't have to make use of the barf bags in the Mission Space capsules. I love it when we are on a ride with a kid as enthusiastic as Anthony was. It makes for such a great time.

Thanks so much! I'm glad we didn't need the barf bags too!:lmao: I love when children get really into rides, it makes the magic more real. Last year he laughed and talked all the way through Stitch's Great Escape, of all rides! When we got off the lady next to us said, "Well at least you liked that!":rotfl2:

Your mommy/son day sounds like so much fun! :goodvibes I'd love to someday set aside a day where we each get a mommy/son, daddy/daughter day then switch since the kids never seem get alone time with us. I bet your son was just loving the attention!

I love your pictures of Les Chefs! That lunch looks positively yummy. Remy is my absolute favorite character. I hope we get to meet him someday!

Yay for date night! :cool1: Can't wait to hear how and where you went!

We had a lot of fun. I loved having the one on one time with Anthony. I think that's a great idea to each have a day with one child then switch! I think Anthony did enjoy not having to share the spotlight.

Lunch was very good! Oh, if Remy is your favorite you have to get there one day! He's super cute :goodvibes

Date night was fun and only happened because my family went to Florida with us. I'll be gone this weekend but will hopefully get the update done beginning of next week.

I just noticed you had a PTR going, I will have to pop in!

Yes, I cancelled Chefs for us to have a date night at Citricos. I do think I'm going to keep our date night in place. Hopefully, we'll get to Chefs in 2014!

After Chad picked us up we went to CBR to change. Then we headed over to my parents to drop Anthony off as he and Tessa were spending the night. I was so tired, I even fell asleep on the way to my parents condo!

My mom said Tessa had a great day.

100_1089-1.jpg

100_1093-1.jpg

When we go to the condo we made plans for the next morning. My parents were going to breakfast with us and we said we would pick them and the kids up around 715. Then it was time to head off for our date night.

When my parents first decided to come on our trip with us one of the first things my mom said was that she would watch the kids one night so Chad and I could have a night to ourselves. The original plan had been to go try out one of the signature restaurants so I booked us a reservation for California Grill. As the trip got closer though we decided to change our plans. Since Chad and I are nothing but class:snooty: we decided to forgo the fine dining and Drink around the World instead!:lmao:

I don't really drink much at all anymore so I knew there was no way I was making it through all the countries and I did not want to be staggering around Disney World. So our rules were we just had to order "something" from each country. It could be a drink, food, or a souvenir and our food from Saturday was going to count too.

We also took along our "mascot" the Dalek. Like I said, the Dalek is from the BBC show Doctor Who of which we are big fans. I thought it would be funny to get a picture of the Dalek in every country looking for the Tardis. (On the show the Doctor flies around in a blue police telephone box that is a time machine called the Tardis that looks like this.)
DSCN1975-1.jpg

Of course the penultimate picture would be of the Dalek in the UK in front of the red telephone box. (Yes, we are weird.) My brother was even insisting that we create a Twitter account for the Dalek and tweet the picture saying, "This is not the Tardis!"

Okay so there's the background so let's move on to our actual night!

We got to Epcot around 545 and headed towards the World Showcase. Of course it was raining so we had to bust out our dollar store ponchos from the backpack. Our first stop was Mexico and we headed straight to La Cava del Tequila. I was so excited about this stop and I think I could have spent the whole night just sampling the margaritas! They all sounded SOOO delicious but I decided on the Blood Orange Margarita. The bartender said this is the strongest one! I got mine in a to-go cup so I could walk around with it.

Blood Orange
El Mayor Premium silver Tequila, triple sec, a sweet-tart mix of blood orange juice and hibiscus syrup, served on the rocks with hibiscus Himalayan salt rim 12.30
(From DisneyFoodBlog.com)
meganspics852-1.jpg

Chad decided to get a tequila shot. I'm sorry I have no idea what kind but here's the picture!
meganspics851-1.jpg

It was served with a chaser that I knew from the DIS was a type of salsa but I was mean and decided not to tell Chad what it was...LOL.:rotfl:

He thought it was really spicy and couldn't wait to get his next drink.

My margarita was amazing! It was so tasty. I would recommend it for sure.
meganspics005-1.jpg

We got a few pictures in Mexico before we headed off to Norway. Chad was embarrassed at first by my Dalek pictures but funny enough the more countries we visited the more he loosened up...:scratchin:rotfl2:
meganspics004-1.jpg

124_0325-1-1.jpg

In Norway we headed to Kringla Bakeri Og Cafe. Chad got a Carlsberg Beer 7.50
meganspics011-1.jpg

and I got the famous School Bread.
meganspics012-1.jpg

I liked this. I would definitely get it again but I'm not raving about, KWIM? We sat behind the Kringla Bakeri and while we enjoyed our treats from Norway the rain stopped!

After the Dalek checked out a Viking vessel we were on our way.
meganspics009-1.jpg

We ventured to China and stopped at the Joy of Tea Stand. Chad got the Mango Green Tea Slush which you can kind of see in this picture.
meganspics855-1.jpg

I thought this was really good and refreshing. Chad thought it was good but he didn't ended up finishing it.

I ordered a Canto Loopy - with Vodka and Cantelope Juice $7.50
meganspics853-1.jpg

I thought this was good. It was not very strong which was fine with me. You can see my Mickey crocs in this picture, I love them!
meganspics856-1.jpg

We passed the African Outpost where we didn't get anything. :sad2:We failed already.:lmao:

Next was Germany.
meganspics857-1.jpg

Chad ordered the Radeberger Pilsner 7.50 and we also got a pretzel to share.
meganspics858-1.jpg

Chad thought the pretzel was too salty but I thought it was really good. These things are HUGE! I was really starting to get full at this point. I don't even think the two of us finished it. We walked around Germany for a while because like I said earlier my family history is almost entirely German. Chad decided that we should get one of those pickle ornaments from the Christmas store even though I think that no German families have heard of this tradition.:confused3

I'm going to split this update into two posts.:thumbsup2
Part 2

Yes, I cancelled Chefs for us to have a date night at Citricos. I do think I'm going to keep our date night in place. Hopefully, we'll get to Chefs in 2014!

Yes you must keep your date night! I need to see your reviews of Citricos and the Neverland Club!:lmao:

Sounds like a fun date night to me! :thumbsup2 Although, I don't think I could hang. I've become such a lightweight since having Reid. 1 drink & I probably would've been done. Maybe two....:rotfl:

I love that y'all were doing pics with y'alls Dalek. Fun stuff!!

Can't wait to hear more!

Yes you must keep your date night! I need to see your reviews of Citricos and the Neverland Club!:lmao:

I'm excited because I saw today on the Disney Food Blog that Citricos will be closing for like 2 weeks or so this summer for a refurb. Should be nice & fresh when we go there! :cool1:

:cool1: I'm caught up!!!!

Okay, the pirate cruise thing looks like so much fun! I hope we get to do it someday. And how awesome that the kids did so well! :cool1:

I love that you had a mother/son day. It looks like you two had such a great time together. :lovestruc

And I LOVE your date night! How fun!!!! Can't wait for the next update!

I'm in and I'll be honest - this is the first trip report I have read in full and I can't wait to read more!!! I LOVE the idea of date night at Epcot. I will be working this into our trip in November 2013. My DH and I love the countries but we have never made it all the way around since we had kids. (We did see all the countries on our honeymoon 13 years ago!) I hope there is more about SWW. That's our next trip - we are booked for May 2013 and we can't wait. Both my DH and DS are huge SW fans and I know they are going to really enjoy SWW. Our DD will only be a year old so we are going to leave her at home with my DM. We will be taking her and my DM in November so maybe DM will give us a date night.

Can't wait to read more!!!!

I was surprised how well I was doing with the drinks. Some of them weren't strong though. I hardly drink at all since having my kids but I think walking and eating helped.

The pictures were funny. Chad said we were getting weird looks:rotfl2:

Thanks, hopefully I can update soon!

The pirate cruise was definitely fun and a great way to see Wishes. I was so relieved the kids did well and seemed to have fun.

Anthony and I had a great time. It was really nice to get some one on one time with him especially since it was his birthday trip.

Thanks our date night was fun! I hope to get an update up soon!

Oh wow, I am honored to be the first trip report you have read in full! What a compliment! Thanks so much for reading along.:goodvibes

Epcot is a great place to have a date night. The countries definitely have an "adult" feel. We usually do about half the countries when we have the kids and even with just the two of us we missed a lot. There is just so much to see. I hope you will be able to experience a date night on your trip!

I have two more days of SWW coming up. You will have a blast, we loved SWW!

Sorry I have not been on much this week. Tessa and I were both sick but hopefully I can get an update started soon! And I am behind on everyone's TRs but I will catch up!

I'm so sorry to hear that you & Tessa have been sick. Hope y'all feel better! :goodvibes

You had me at Dalek :rotfl2: Throw in a little Star wars and Pirates, well...you may have a stowaway on your next vacay :rolleyes1

Sounds like my kind of date night! You can go to a fancy restaurant any time but eating & drinking around Epcot is so special. That's so cool that you guys got a night to yourselves :goodvibes

I had NO IDEA that you could get margaritas to go from La Cava! Can you order any margarita to go or just certain ones? I'd love to try that avocado one.

Did you get your mickey crocks while you were there? They are so cute!

Thank you! We are feeling better but we were out of it for a few days.

Welcome! Thanks so much for joining in and reading along. That's too funny about stowing away!:rotfl2: It's nice to have another Who fan on here!

That's kind of what we were thinking. We just decided that wondering around Epcot alone would be lots of fun and it was! It was really great to have a night to ourselves. Chad and I didn't really have a honeymoon but if we would have it would definitely have been Disney. So it was nice to get a taste of that for one night.

Yes you can definitely get margaritas from La Cava to go! It is a beautiful thing:lmao: I'm pretty sure you can get any one to go. It's a nice option for parents. I know its Disney but I would still feel a bit strange taking my kids into a tequila bar, KWIM? I debated for literally weeks about which margarita to get and my final two were the blood orange or avocado. If you try it def let me know how it is!

I actually got my Mickey crocs online before we went but they were selling them at Epcot. They were at a merchandise kiosk by the Character Spot. They are super comfy and cute!

So sorry you and Tessa have been sick. :( I hope you are both on the mend! :flower3:
