Jedi Training--worth it or not?

I've got limited time in DL, but do have another trip planned to WDW in 2017 too and will def go when the new Star Wars Land opens. My kids are 6 and 8, so I'm not sure how long they would be into doing stuff like the Jedi Training. I know it's about half an hour or so out of your time. For anyone who has done it, what did you think?

Thanks!

My son did the Jedi Training on our only trip to WDW when he was 6 1/2. He LOVED it!! It was so worth booting it right over and signing him up first thing. We received a lot of photos from the photopass photographer as well.

Now he's 12 (turning 13 in April) and recently asked me if Disneyland has the Jedi Training as well. I was surprised. I thought with his age he wouldn't be interested. Oh but he is. Now he says he's older and knows how to use the lightsaber better. :) And he's hoping to pick up replacement parts for his lightsaber he built in WDW.

At that age if they like Star Wars it is definitely worth it. It is a ton of fun for them and as a parent it was great to watch our son having so much fun getting to be a Jedi and fighting Darth Vader when he was that age.

I like the old show better. I'd skip it, but my daughter LOVES it. She bought a light saber after she did it on our last trip and had it with her when we saw Darth Vader and Chewbacca. It made for great interactions. She even got into a saber battle with one of the Dark Side CMs outside the regular Darth Vader M&G (we had done the Visa one). It was great. There were shouts of "fight... fight" from behind her. Naturally, since my daughter was a "trained Jedi", she won the battle, driving the CM to the floor. The CM got a lecture from her fellow CMs for letting down the Dark Side and losing the battle. It was great!

DS did it last summer for the first time. I told him about it before our trip and he was really excited to do it. We signed up a little after 10am on a Sunday and picked an afternoon show. If you are fine with one of the later shows you don't need to worry about rushing to the sign-up area first thing but I wouldn't wait too long to do so. It was fun to watch him and a nice break out of the sun and for the feet!

This sounds great! I think I will sign them up to do this. Thanks for all the advice everyone. I would be fine with an afternoon show, but I think we will still try to sign them up as soon as feasible in the morning.

DD7 did it on Dec 28. She then insisted to do it again Dec 30. It's all she talks about now.

Where do you sign up for this? Are you guaranteed a spot by signing up?
Sign ups are on the exit ramp of launch Bay. Once you sign up, your spot is guaranteed as long as you return by the designated time for the show you select.

Do the kids have to be present to sign up or can one parent run over and do it while the rest of the family heads somewhere else?

It's worth it, especially now that you sign up and don't have to beg to be in the show.

When are you going to Disneyland?

"You must be between 4 and 12 years of age to participate."

Which I'm pretty sure means 4 and 12 are included (despite their "between" wording, UGH). But if he's going to be 13, well.... My son turns 13 in late May and is still just a big ol' kid at heart, and all of these "you're a teen so you can't participate" rules in the world are weighing on him.

(same rule at WDW, by the way. It's not just an Anaheim thing)

No worries. :) That I already know. We're going in 3 weeks. Getting close!! He's big for his age so I figure I might want to bring his passport or birth certificate or something just in case. I need to show our passport's for the Canadian ticket pricing anyways.
