Heard that a jedi Training takes place a few times daily near Star Tours...is this true? what exactly is it? do I sign my DS's up ahead of time? thanks for any info...I'm hoping this is all year, not just during Star Wars weeks! :goodvibes

Unfortunately it is only during Star Wars weekend, unless they changed it this year. During STW they have a sign-up both for these activites between Indiana Jones and Star Tours. There is more information on the Disney Website under Special Events.

Actually I think it is now being offered before Star Wars weekends

Check out the information on http://www.mgmstudios.org/
I copied some of the info below...

Disney is starting the Jedi Training Academy on March 27. A stage went up last night next to Star Tours and starting on March 27, the event that normally only runs during Star Wars Weekends, will be running every day from March 27 through June 11. The reason is Disney wants to test the popularity of this event and see if it could be a permanent attraction. Younglings will only battle Darth Vader (except during the actual SW Weekends when it will also include Darth Maul).

the academy has been going on for about two weeks. its basicaly luck of the draw to be picked. te times are posted on the park scheduel sheet when you enter. Right now Darth Maul is not part of the show, only Darth Vadar and two storm Troupers. DArth maul may make an apperance at starwars weekends.

Thanks so much to you all for this great info!! My DS's, 7 and 4, are going to spontaneously combust when they see this!! Even if they don't get picked!! speaking of which...I know it is really just luck of the draw, but do you think if they had their own lightsabers and a costume they'd be more apt to be chosen?

so, you do not sign up ahead of time, though? just show up at the showtimes listed in the times guide?

Thanks again....great pictures!! :goodvibes

yep - our boys got picked but it took us two shows to figure out how to do it. You do not sign up - just show up about 30minutes early and be sure to lineup near the left half of the stage. At least in our case, 75% of the people picked were from the front line on the left side. They absolutely loved fighting Darth Vader but other than the fact that your kid goes up on stage, its a pretty boring show

My DS6 loved it! We just happened to be standing there and it began. Next thing we knew, he was onstage fighting Darth. Great impromptu fun...

Show up maybe 5-10 minutes before the time listed in the guide so your kid can get a spot close to the stage and when the Jedi Master asks for volunteers, have your kid go nuts....jump, wave their arms, yell...whatever it takes to get the Jedi master's attention.

This is an accurate scientific description of what will happen to my DS6 and Ds4 as well.

thanks eveyrone for the info!

I thought my DS6 would be more excited about this but he wasn't. He's a big Star Wars fan. We got there a few minutes before the show started and the "master" started picking kids. One kid had his own light saber and she told him to leave his weapon there... She chose a lot of kids -- about 20 or so. My DS refused to wave his hands up and down and only raised his hand a little. So he didn't get picked, although there weren't very many kids there -- maybe about 40 and she picked 20. So your odds are good at getting picked. She also said that if you had already participated in the show then you should let others be chosen.

Have fun!

We've been going to SWW for a few years now, maybe since they began it. In 2004 Darth Maul was part of the Jedi Training. My DD was so thrilled. DM is her favorite character, least was then.

Ok my DH 32 is going to have this exact same reaction. If he jumps around and shouts-- do you think he'll get picked? My DS4 wouldn't want to do it but he would get a kick out of watching my husband.
