Love all of the pictures! You really do have some big Star Wars fans!

As I may have mentioned I am a first grade teacher and I love to scrapbook. I would love to put together an ABC Disney scrapbook. I could use it in my class and I know that they would love to look at the pictures. So, please help me complete or add to my list of items I need to spot for each letter. Geppetto, Pinocchino, Gaston, Grumpy, Wendy, Lady and Tramp, Turkey Leg, Marie, Mural, Toad

I'll keep working on it for you. (Right up my alley.) I really shouldn't complain about having so many more days; some don't get the whole summer! We had four days tacked on. We don't build them into our calendar.

Oooh - I hope you started later than we did! I know most schools on the East Coast do. As my father (who's from Jersey City) says, that's the CORRECT way to do it. ;)

You've got a great start for the book, Shelley. I'll get the kids on it! I'm sure we can come up with some for you! (What a great excuse to take some more pictures!!! :cool1:)

I had the kids tell me what they are most looking forward to on this trip. I got some answers that I expected…and some that I didn’t. Here are the top 10 things Haley is looking forward to on this trip…though most of them are in no particular order! (I'm pretty sure I stole this idea from someone else...thanks, Laura!)

1.Bippity Boppity Boutique: This was definitely number one for her. She is SOOOO excited about this experience! Right now, she thinks she’s getting her hair and make-up done. But before the trip (I’m not sure when to reveal this), Bryan and I are planning on giving her a card that tells her that, as part of her birthday present from us and her Grammy (my mom), she will be getting the whole kit and caboodle – dress and photo shoot included – which she has been begging for since we first talked about it. You’d think that a kid going on 9 would be over the whole dress-up thing…but not my girlie-girl!

100_4260.jpg

This is her at one of the current exhibits at the Children’s Museum in Indy (a GREAT place, by the way) – it’s a Barbie exhibit.

2. It’s a Small World: This has been her #1 ride since our first trip in 2005. I guess she’s a chip off the old block…apparently, I was nuts about this ride as a kid, too. Dad likes to go on and on about how he had to endure that song over and over and over….

3. The parade: “All of them!” was her response when I asked her which one in particular. She was pretty excited to see Tinkerbelle on one of the new floats in the Main Street Electrical Parade that we’ll be seeing in June.

4. The “Castle Plays”: This is what she calls the castle forecourt shows. The last one, “Dream Along With Mickey,” wasn’t near as entertaining as “Cinderellabration,” in my opinion. Then again, I nursed Will through most of it, so I didn’t stay to watch it with them. Does anyone know if it’s changed since the Year of a Million Dreams?
100_1493.jpg

5. Characters – The ones she’s most looking forward to are Tiana and Tink. Pixie Hollow opened right after we went in 2008, so she’s never gotten to meet the fairies. I have to admit, even I’m excited about that one! And I’m trying to keep track of where Tiana is. We don’t stand in line for many autographs in MK (that’s what the character meals are for!), but we’ll stand in line for these two.

6. Toy Story Mania: This was a big hit with all of us last trip. I read on the DIS that one of the games has been replaced with a new game that includes a character from Toy Story 3 – sounds pretty cool. This is Haley on TSM in 2008, showing off her fashionable 3-D glasses:

7. Star Wars Weekends: My family’s Star Wars obsession has been well documented in this PTR. Enough said. She is especially looking forward to Hyperspace Hoopla.

8. “Sights to See”: When I asked her to explain this one, she responded that there were always new things to see at Disney, and she couldn’t wait to go see more. Yes, she’s definitely my child…

9. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad: I was so surprised by how she took to this ride last trip. She loved it! She even held her hands up and screamed in delight at times! Then she went on it again with Bry when Jack decided not to use his FastPass. She talks about it quite often – how fun it was, how it was so fast. She’s really growing up, I guess!

10. The CBR slide: My kids love the pool!
100_1207.jpg

We’ve always stayed at ASMo…we’re not used to pool slides! But both kids are excited about the pool at CBR. I hope to hit this on our arrival day so that they can get a taste of it early.

11. (yeah, I know – so much for the top ten list…she really IS like her mother – she likes to talk, too…:rolleyes1) Hidden Mickeys: Haley has been a “I Spy” fan since she was old enough to understand the concept. She’s learned about hidden Mickeys, and she’s ready to find them! She doesn’t know it, but thanks to Shelley she has the Hidden Mickeys book to read on the way down there. I need to come up with a way for her to keep track of them that she can carry around with her. I’m still working on that one!

Ok, that’s it for Haley. I’ll come back and post the lists for the rest of us later. Next up – what does a six-year-old want to see in Disney?

A great top 11 for Haley! I don't think this trip will disappoint her:goodvibes

Wow! Haley and I want to see a lot of the same things! I love "sights to see" as an answer. That is one of the things I like about Disney too! You are raising her right!:thumbsup2

The Shirt Saga

It started in 2007. Wouldn't it be neat if we had matching shirts one day at the parks? Then DH and my DBIL each came up with cool designs so we said 2 shirts would be good. Then I came across the Mickey Tye Dye shirts and they were so cute. My DMIL perfected her technique and we added a 3rd shirt to our Disney wardrobe. On to 2010, and we are at it again. As of right now DH and DBIL have again made two really cool shirt designs. We also want to do the Mickey Tye Dyes again. We got a lot of people asking us in 2007 where we bought our shirts. So, each person that wants to participate in our group will have 3 different shirts. We plan on doing laundry part way through our trip so we will wear each one twice.

Jen's mom and aunt will have a special shirt for 1900 Park Fare. There also was talk of some Star Wars weekend shirts (Jen are we still doing this). So, in a few weeks we will be meeting to have a yard sale at my inlaws (more Disney spending money!). While we are there we are going to work on the shirts.

Here is a look at our shirts from our trip in 2007.

HPIM0715-1.jpg

I am sorry my purse strap is in the way. This one has Sorcerer Mickey and it says "The Happiest Vacation On Earth" "3 Generations, 1 Destination"

HPIM0762_2.jpg

This shirt has the Mickey head with the castle inside. 2007 is above the Mickey head. Around the sides are pictures of everyone who went on the trip.

HPIM0809_2.jpg

The Tye Dye Mickey Heads. They were labor intensive to make although my DMIL has gotten good at making them.

Jen might be able to post pictures of our new designs. I still need to buy another shirt. We discovered last time that the cheaper shirts didn't hold the color as well.

Very cool shirts; how did the transfer ones wash? I made two for my friend's sons. (They are leaving in two weeks.) I plan on making ones for my girls. (They won't where typical Disney. However, the one wants the castle with fireworks...I can only imagine it is going to look like a bad iron on.) I'll post pics of the ones for the boys on my PTR. They turned out nice.

We started school Aug 30 - I think - Ahhh that was a lifetime ago.

They washed up really well. I can't remember what transfer paper we used. :confused3 Maybe Jen does? If not I can ask my MIL. This year we are trying something new. We got a "Yudu" from Michaels. It is a do it yourself screen printer. I am really hoping it works well. I am looking forward to seeing the shirts you made. :)

I just read this tip on the June 2010 trip thread. If you are going to Disney in May or June and you are into collecting pins go to this site:

http://www.disneymovierewards.com/vacation

The code is VACATION. You can print a certificate to get a free Tinkerbell :tinker:pin from Disney movie rewards. It can only be redeemed at Mousegears after you spend $40.00. But if you are going to be purchasing items there anyway it could be a good deal. If anything you could use it as a trader.

Love all the shirts! I'll definitely be on the lookout for the shirts you make for this year so I can be watching for them at Crystal Palace. And I'm going to have to check out the link for the free Tink pin. Thanks:goodvibes

thanks for the tip, we will print that out for sure, and it will be a great buy if they also have the spend a certain amount and buy a blanket again this year or bag, we might be able to use both.

thanks for the heads up, i have to go check out htat thread for other tips.

That is a good point about being able to maybe get an additonal item besides the pin.:thumbsup2 I need to put my voucher with my trip stuff so I don't forget it.
