Yeeee Doggies.... Thats right, the Clampets (well something similar) are traveling from NC to CA in January 2010 to experience VGC. :laundy:

After reading DVC Mike's TR and after managing to snag 3 free round trip tickets on United Airlines for getting bumped 3 times on a previous trip, we're gonna check things out. :cool1:

We will fly from RDU on Sat, Jan 23, hopefully into John Wayne Airport, stay in a local hotel that night, and check into a VGC 1BR on Sun and stay through Thursday.

Over the next several months, I will be gleaning as much information as I can on what to see, eat and do while we're there. We've been traveling to WDW for the last 8 years, and been on 3 Disney cruises. So needless to say we have the east coast Disney thing down pat. This trip will be a new Disney experience for us, as none of us have ever been to southern California before. I have been to the San Francisco area more times than I can count, so I am looking forward to exploring new territory.

So I'm putting all of you Californians and Disney Landians on notice, I will be asking a lot of questions over the coming months. So get ready! :scared1:

Sounds fun and ask away :)

We made our first trip to Disneyland earlier this month. We've been to WDW more times than I can count. We stayed at the GCH on points. We loved, loved, loved the resort and Disneyland. It is smaller, but there is just something so special about it. I spent a lot of time lurking on the DIS Disneyland board to get information. You're going to have a great time!

I think you're going to really like the Villas at the Grand Californian. Have fun!

:goodvibes

How exciting for you and your clan!
Seriously, you will love the original Mouse House and So Cal. I hope you come to the DL boards and read and ask questions. They say we are a really friendly bunch over there.:goodvibes It's my favorite place on the boards.;)

To keep with the Beverly Hillbillies analogy...

Cally-for-nee! Well Doggies!

Just a warnin: Them there Cally-for-nee folk thank that Uncle Jed looks a lot like Davey Crockett's sidekick.

:rotfl2:

Have fun! I wish I were you.

Darn....I read the thread title and thought someone had sprung a surprise invitation to California for me!! :rotfl2:

Thanks guys for the replys, we are excited about the trip. I really think that part of any trip (especially one to anything Disney) is the planning....

I have been lurking over on the DL boards trying to get a feel for what folks are talking about....

I'm getting ready to call the airline right now and book the tickets so they can't come back later and tell me that their window of free/awards seats are gone.... Surely this is plenty of notice for them...

Well howdy neighbor. Cary here.....
Have fun with the planning!

Poor Granny, no VGC ;).

Former DL cast member here and life long So Cal resident. If there is anything I can help with, let me know.

Howdy! You'll have a wonderful time at the VGC and DLR...the best part is you don't have to pre-plan as much as you do for WDW, especially for January, just wing it.

Well, my birthday is January 23, and I am located right here in Raleigh, well actually I am in Cary working right this minute, but live in Raleigh, so do you think I could come along, too? I have never been and am just hankerin' to go.

I am excited for you trip - we are new DVC VGC members and our first trip to VGC is Oct. We usually stay at good neighbor resorts. You will love DL its special - yes smaller but more rides for kids and adults, like storybook land which must be done during the day and night.

Plus in my opinion DL MK is so much better then WDW MK at christmas we did the xmas party at WDW twice last year but the whole feel of the MK was not as xmasy as DL.
Of course MGM was amazing with the light show but DL MK at xmas rocks.

Enjoy your trip and I will be looking for your questions on the DL board or DVC boards ;)
