Jeans or shorts at the end of October?

what typically are you wearing day/night at the end of October at the parks??
thanks ;)

That is a tough one... could be either.
October is a weird month for us. Santa Anas will bring dry heat, could be 90. We also tend to get our first rains in October. I know this won't help much, but I'd bring both. By that time nights will probably be chilly so you'll definitely need the jeans either way, but the shorts are possible for the daytime.

Sometimes Halloween costumes are as little as possible to stay decent and sometimes (although less likely) they have rain jackets over them.

It could EASILY be shorts and T shirt weather....or it could EASILY be winter coat time!

Unless I have a weather report indicating otherwise, I typically plan on shorts during the day and then a change into pants and a light jacket in the evening for that time of year. Once the sun goes down, it cools off much quicker at night.

I was in shorts and a t-shirt in mid-November on certain days last couple of years I was in the parks. Other days were jeans and maybe even a sweatshirt for the evening. Shorts a very real possibility in October, I think you just have to scope out the weather reports when it gets close (and then probably pack a little of both anyway).

Shorts in the day and shorts or jeans at night. In late October its often in the 80s during the day so I usually wear shorts in the day and it gets in the 60s or upper 50s after dark so I bring a hoodie and put it in a rent a locker in between the parks. Unless it gets unusually cool, you can wear shorts.

We've been a couple of times in mid October and found the weather can be anything. One year the Santa Ana Winds were so bad they shut down Splash Mountain and a few other rides.

Layers are your best bet at that time of year. As previous posters have noted, the weather in October is unpredictable. It can be warm during the day, sometimes downright hot, and then cool off quickly at night. Rain isn't as common, but it does happen. Santa Ana winds are more common. Plan on packing layers so that you can peel off/add on as needed.

It honestly depends on you and where you are from. I am a brit living in Vancouver so for me I wear shorts year round in California.

Last week I was there and it was tipping 99 and there were a group of texans all in Jeans :)

I have to echo the previous statements about the weather in SoCal being unpredictable. I know that people who don't live here probably think, "But how can it be that unpredictable? Isn't it sunny and wonderful all year long?"

People who live here know that between September and December we can see all sorts of weather variations happening. It could easily be very windy and dry in October, and possibly very hot too. We have been experiencing more humid weather lately, so that could stick around as well. It could also be a pleasant 72 degrees and gloomy/overcast. It could be raining -- even heavy rain at times. The only thing that you will not see in Anaheim in October is snowfall -- that is pretty much a certainty. And it probably won't dip down to 30 degrees at night, like it can in December/January/February. Almost anything else is possible, though!

So I agree with the suggestions to wear layers, and to bring clothing to cover both hot and chilly temperatures!

Simply put, I have been going for week long trip in October every year for the past five years and every time it's been very hot. Sometimes above 100 even. Flip flops and sunscreen hot!

thanks everyone. We live in Phoenix and are lucky to be wearing capris and tees by Thanksgiving.

so this helps ;)

We always took a sweatshirt and jeans and also shorts, we rarely wore tank tops in the parks (I burn very very easily so prefer to covered as much as possible). Sept-Nov the weather fluctuates so we would rather be prepared. We took the sweatshirt into the park and tied it around our waist until we needed it but we almost always needed it when the sun went down. :)

Our weather changes so much! Yesterday we were 105 today 88. Seriously. But It's rarely cold in California let alone do it rarely rain. Id say jeans ( it should be in the 90's ) and a light sweater for night time.

Correction, it's rarely cold in Anaheim and most of So Cal, it regularly freezes here and gets really cold. :) lol

cold is different for everyone. We live in an extremely hot climate and are wimpy.
We go at Thanksgiving a lot and its jeans day and night. jackets/scarves at night.
We have gone in Sept and had a heat wave. so....

We are going 3rd week of Oct....so we will see

:rotfl2:I wouldn't call you guys wimpy! Everyone acclimates to the area in which they live, and no one can help that! And then, even beyond that fact, some people are more sensitive to cold or hot weather -- to the point where even the slightest drop or increase in temperatures can be uncomfortable. I hate hot weather and I love cooler weather, but even I had to throw on the mittens and neck scarf last year in December, when it was 30 degrees. I wasn't unhappy about it, but my hands were like blocks of ice so it was necessary.

I've lived here in L.A. my entire life, and in the last 10 years or so it seems -- to me -- that the weather has been doing some unexpected things, or becoming more extreme than it used to. One year in September we might get the hottest weather of the entire year (2010 heat wave), and in another year in September we might get heavy rain (2007). A day in December could be in the 50's in or the 90's!.

October certainly can be hot at times, but it also can be mild and pleasant or even rainy.

Is check the weather forecast before you go. Weather forecasts usually do a pretty good job of predicting the weather you will experience on your trip.:thumbsup2

I've always worn short pants no matter the weather. I guess I just got used to wearing them. I feel more comfortable wearing short pants.
