The cast:
Me--Steph, 28, Addicted Trip Planner
DH--Chris, 29, no opinions about trip
DS1--Trevor, 3, glad to be at WDW
DS2--Isaac, 15 months, along for the ride

We would later decide this was the worst day of our trip, but it really didn't start out that way....

We got up early AGAIN, for our breakfast, this time at Animal Kingdom. We were at the bus stop around 7:15 or so, and got to AK before they let people in. We took our time walking to Donald's Breakfastasaurus, stopped a CM in front of the tree of life who was glad to take our picture there, since the park photographers weren't there yet, found the restaurant, checked in, got our picture done there, and one with our camera. We were seated fairly quickly, and I got mine and Trevor's plate, since the CM said it would be a few minutes before the characters came. Almost as soon as Chris got up to get his food, Donald was there; before he was gone, Mickey was also at our table, and we got a pic with both characters. Before Chris came back, we had also seen Pluto. We really enjoyed the food, it was all hot, which I had been concerned about. We had several plates each, the kids had 2 plates plus cereal, and some time I believe we saw Goofy as well. I don't know if we will do this one again, the characters were there and then gone, but as I said we did enjoy the food, so maybe we will.

We left breakfast, had to wait just a minute until the CM would let us back through, and we went to the Maharjah Jungle Trek at DH suggestion, despite me saying we should ride the safari. OK, no big deal. I do think this is where our day started going downhill, but maybe it was going to happen anyway. The tigers were sleeping, the comodo dragon was HUGE, we saw a couple deer, Chris saw the bats, the kids and I skipped that, they went to see the birds, I skipped that. Then we decided to go to Rafiki's Planet Watch, since Isaac had started crying and fussing, we thought the train ride would put him to sleep. Wrong. He cried the whole time we were on the train. We knew he was tired, but he wouldn't go to sleep this time like he had so easily the previous days. When we got there, Trevor and I went to the petting station while Chris and Isaac sat on a bench in the shade; did I mention it was hotter than blue blazes that day? So early in the morning? After that, Isaac was still crying, we went inside the Conservation Station. First think we saw was Rafiki, Trev liked that. We wanted to see Stanley, but if he was there, we missed him. Isaac still crying, we walked around inside the building for a long time, just looking at things and trying to calm him down. He was STILL fussy, so we went back to the stroller, and here comes the talking trashcan. I heard it, but I knew what it was when I looked out of the corner of my eye, DH had no idea. It called us the Orange T-Shirt Family, which was kind of funny, we were all wearing orange t-shirts that day....not really planned, other than the kids. When we got back off the train, we went to the Baby Care Center, thought Issac might need changed. He did pretty well while we were inside, it was nice and cool in there. They watched a little bit of a movie and played and had a cold drink while we waited. We thought it was ok to go back out, we saw the acrobat/dancer guys, they were really good, watched their show, and then we ran into Flik, and Trev got his picture taken even though he had no idea who he was...he said it was "Bugs Life" and that was all. Cute pic though! Chris and Isaac had gone ahead to get something to drink while Trev and I waited for Flik, and we met up with them again.
DH said they had passed Lilo and Stitch, so we went over that way, but before Trevor saw them, they were going in for a break, so we kept going. We in to Festival of the Lion King with only about a 2 minute wait, that was an awesome show! Isaac fell asleep again in there, despite all the noise. When we came out, Trev and I went to the trails for Minnie, Mickey, and then we saw Pluto, just standing there by himself, so we stopped to visit him. We still hadn't done the safari, but DH and I decided we'd had enough, the kids had had enough, it was just too hot, so we went back to Movies for lunch in the food court. Chris had a steak sandwich, which he really liked, I had a taco salad again, and the kids split a chicken nugget meal.

After a MUCH needed nap, we got ready for our dinner with Cinderella. Went to MK, got on the yellow monorail, which thrilled Trev to death, except he wanted the blue one, NOT the yellow one, as if I could help that. The GF was beautiful, but I don't think we'd ever want to stay there; it's just not something that appealed to us. I'm glad we got to see it though! The food was pretty good, our server was almost non-existent. We saw Prince Charming right after we sat down, he was, well, charming! He asked if we'd left our carriage outside, and Trevor looked at me, I explained that a carriage is how Prince Charming gets around, and Trev looked at him and said, "We don't have a carriage, we left Mommy's Jeep at the airport, and we came here on the monorail". We saw him twice. Next was saw Suzy, then Perla, then finally Cinderella. The characters were spaced a good bit apart, which helped with getting Trev to eat. Cinderella called Trev a Prince, and he insisted he was a "boy, not a prince, and Isaac is just a baby". When we left, we saw the Fairy Godmother and Goofy outside, and got pictures with them.

We left the GF and went to Downtown Disney. First stop was the World of Memories where I bought some scrapbook stuff, then we walked through most of the shops. Isaac got attached to a Mickey, and wouldn't put it down, so we bought it, Trevor got a Sully, we played at the Lego place for awhile, and then went back towards the entrance. Trev had to stop at the bathroom, and while we were in there, Isaac found the interactive fountain. At first he was afraid of it, but once he got used to it, there was no getting him away from it. Trev would run around it, but not through it. Isaac was just standing in the middle and running through the water. We were there about 45 minutes, then we finally packed them up and went back to the bus.

Went back to the room, got ready for bed. For some unknown reason, after I put my retainers in, I decided to take out my earrings, which I'd left in the entire trip. At home, I never sleep in them, but on the trip I did; they were the diamonds DH got me for our first anniversary; not huge, but expensive for us, pretty, and I love them. I still had the water running from my retainers, took out the right one, put it on the sink. Took the back off the second one, and the earring popped out somehow and went down the drain before i could grab it. I shut the water off as soon as I realize it, but it was too late. I started crying, couldn't believe I'd been so stupid. Chris called the front desk to see if they could send someone up, but it was 11:00 pm, so he didn't know. In just a few minutes, Lee came to the door; I guess he worked in maintenance, I didn't know they were there that late, but he was. He said he'd be glad to try to get it, but since the water had been running, he couldn't promise anything. He went to work on the sink, and then had to get another tool. In just a couple minutes, he was back and a few minutes after that, he brought it to me and asked if I'd lost that! I was stuck in the trap somehow, thankfully. I was so happy, I could have cried! He wouldn't accept a tip from DH, but we were so thankful to him, I wish he would have. I know he may not have been allowed to accept tips though.

Next up, unplanned visit to Epcot and then to MK

Steph

I love reading your trip report. This one really brought a tear to my eye. I know how you must have felt when that earring went down the drain. I'm so glad they got it for you. Losing something sentimental can never be replaced.

Great report ~ Thanx for sharing.

Glad you got your earring back.
