Hello to all my past, present, and future Disney Brides. I have decided that I will finally start a PJ (Mainly because if I don’t, I will drive my family/DH crazy before the wedding).

About us:

I am originally from Miami, FL and my parents are Cuban. I moved to Birmingham, AL (my dad had a job offer) kicking and screaming (4 years ago) but as luck has it, I met the love of my life.

Ben is originally from Mobile, AL but decided to move to Birmingham, AL for college.

We are both graduating in May 2011 with a degree in Biology and plan on pursuing a career in Dentistry.

How we met:

We met our freshman year at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Ben was really good at General Chemistry and would tell his friend, “I will only tutor you if you bring me girls”. So his friend did what he was told and brought not 1, not 2, but 3 girls to a tutoring session.

Ben and I hit it off from the first day we met and have been inseparable ever since.

The Proposal:

My brother had lent us his car and Ben was taking it back to my parent’s house (we were living in an apartment at the time). So he was on his way back because my brother decided he didn’t need the car yet and I was talking to him on the phone when all of a sudden he said he had to go. He caught me off guard. I was in my pajamas and I was crying because I thought he had gotten into a car accident (I’m a worry wart and I always imagine the worst). He didn't answer the phone, not even once, which is not typical Ben. When he got to the apartment, I was inconsolable and I was just glad to see he was alive and he was standing on one knee proposing... It took me a while to realize what was going on, but when I did, I said YES! He was supposed to propose later that night at Flemings for his birthday dinner but I wouldn’t have it any other way! =)

Our Wedding Plans (so far):

My parents are going to pay for the wedding (They told me they want me to have the wedding they never did).

My wedding will be February 4th 2012 at the WP. The pre-reception will be in the White Hall Room & Patio. The reception will be in a GF Ballroom. Our estimated guest count is 100.

I want to have a romantic fairytale wedding. My colors are navy blue or royal blue or purple (not sure yet), Ivory, with blush accents.

Congratulations and Welcome!! Those colors all sound amazing!! I can't wait to hear more of you plans!!

Sweet! My brother is a freshman at Bama and LOVES it! I went to UGA so there's a little family rivalry there :) Congratulations!

Wow... all sounds beautiful! Yay for another 2012 bride! :)

Cant wait to see more!

Thanks guys! I can't wait to start posting pictures but apparently I need to have 10 posts.I think I need one more. :rotfl:

Congrats and welcome!
Cute story, love your colors too! I love the way Navy and pink look together so my vote goes for those! :lovestruc

By the way, I am from Miami too. Eventhough now I live in Broward, not really too far, and my parents are Cuban too.

Can't wait to see more of your plans! :thumbsup2

I originally planned on having silver chiavari chairs but I'm not sure if they match...

What do you guys think? Silver, gold, black or clear?

Hey,

Loving your inspiration pictures! I think the 2nd from last photo is with gold chairs and I think it would also depend on what colours you had... I dont know if ive missed this bit of information!? What is your colour scheme?

Enjoying your PJ so far!

hiya and congratulations!! (oh and welcome to the boards :goodvibes)

Your engagement story is cute. The first two pics for your reception inspiration are gorgeous.

Happy Planning! xx

I love your plans so far and I'm looking forward to reading more! Your ring is so pretty, and unique :) And I would have been just like you with your proposal story - I am a TOTAL worrywart and am constantly imagining the worst possible scenario (it's a terrible quality to have) and I think I would have reacted the same way.

The inspiration pics are stunning and your color combo will look beautiful no matter what you choose. My main color is royal blue, accented with silver, but I also considered navy blue, a deep purple, or dark red.

Thank you to everyone for all your kind words. It really means a lot to me.

As for my color scheme, I still have yet to decide but I'm leaning towards all white and gold centerpieces (floral, chairs, and table accents) with a splash of color (blue, or purple).

Vendors:

Photography:
Misty Miotto- I swear she is the most down to earth photographer I have ever met (we talked for about 1 hour :chat:). She pretty much becomes your wedding fairy godmother giving you her advice on just about anything that you can think of. :littleangel:

Officiant: Rev. Tim Herring- So far he has been great and very attentive. He never takes more then a day to answer emails. I was worried because some of my guests only speak spanish and he told me to not worry because we could have a translator. My DF was actually the one who picked him out but I love him.

Hair & Makeup: Beauty Speciale- I've heard only good things about them and I'm sure I will be pleased. The only problem I've had is that I requested Ana but they told me they can't confirm Ana until October for a February 2012 wedding. I'm crossing my fingers.

Stationary:
Swoozies: They are great and they know their wedding etiquette. I have spent countless hours in their store without purchasing anything and asking a book load of questions and they don't seem to mind.

The above vendors are the ones that are already confirmed.

My headache is videography:headache:

Stan from STVS: He is great with prices but I have looked at his samples and I'm not convinced. If you look at them closely you will notice that most of the videos have the same pre recorded introduction. I don't know about you guys but I would like my wedding day recorded as is. To his defense, I have not yet asked him about this. Does anyone know if the final product has the pre-recorded clips and the same song or is it just his samples?

Jeffrey Stoner: The only thing I could say about him is that he is super pricey and he only has 2 video samples to back it up. If I'm going to spend over 3K then I need assurance that I will get what I want.

Disney Videography: Oh Disney people I love you guys but you take forever to respond. I was wondering if the 3.3K quote was in HD. They are expensive but I'm leaning towards them because 1. It goes towards my $20 K minimum expenditure, 2. They have hidden cameras in the WP (and the best angles) and 3. Their competition is almost the same price (Simply Cinematic)

Does anyone else have any other suggestions? By the way, I have also contacted Starfruit Productions, Key Moments Productions, and Brewer Videography but they have not answered.

We thought about having a cigar roller as our wedding favor but Disney said it would be $1400 for 25 cigars so thats not going to happen.

Oh they joys of wedding planning... :surfweb:

BEAUTIFUL colours think the photograph above is gorgeous! :)

Oooo cant wait to see more!

Hey girl, love that insportation picture. The white and gold looks so classy. You seem like you are moving along wuite nicely... I do not have half of those things panned out myself! :sad2:

Hey everyone! I'm sorry I didn't really keep much of a planning journal. It's just that the wedding planning for me was crazy! I was finishing my degree in Biology, trying to get into Dental School and planning a wedding. It was hectic to say the least. Now however, I've graduated, been accepted into Dental School(NYU!!!) and already married:cheer2:..

I hope you guys don't mind me doing a trip report without much of a planning journal. I just want to relive my wedding because I'm been having major wedding withdrawal. My DF is like " You still go on disboards??? I thought that was going to stop after the wedding..." Lol. Apparently NOT!

Wedding Trip Report Day 1 (5 days before wedding)

Packing was miserable. Let’s just leave it at that. My advice: Start packing like a week in advance.

IMG_1233.jpg

We decided to drive from Birmingham, AL to Orlando (10 hours) because it was just easier to carry everything we needed for the wedding. Dress, Ceremony Items, Reception Items, Tuxedos, luggage for Disney, and luggage for our honeymoon.

So we got to the Grand Floridian at around 11 o’clock at night and we were EXHAUSTED! Me being the OCD Bride that I am did not let bell service take Rochelle (my dress) so I ended up having to stand in the check in line carrying my big heavy dress. Behind us was a lady from the Knot.com, apparently they were having some sort of convention and she wanted to know all about our wedding.

IMG_1236.jpg

Because of this convention, they didn’t have a king bed available but they told me I could come back the next day and they would give us a king bed. I was a little disappointed because who wants to play musical chairs with hotel rooms but it was better than nothing.

While we were walking to the room we saw that there were ducks in the pool. Lol.. I have a creepy fascination with ducks and yes I took this picture with my dress in one hand and the camera in the other.

IMG_1239.jpg

When we got to the room, there was a bottle of champagne and a rose waiting for us. I thought that was really sweet. We took a bubble bath and drank our bottle of champagne and went straight to bed!

Hey! Thanks for joining in. I'm going to speed my TR up so that I can get to the wedding. :cool1:

Day 2 (3 days before wedding)

The next morning I woke up and all I could think about was that I would be marrying Benjamin in less then 3 days.

We had breakfast at the Grand Floridian Café and then we went to meet Jamie (our new planner since Maxine went to Hawaii).

IMG_1252.jpg

Jamie was awesome. She walked me through everything and I tied up loose ends. I had like a million questions for her and she did not mind. I’m pretty sure we were there for like 2-3 hours.

We spent the remainder of the day in Epcot (My favorite). It was as amazing as I remembered.

I was really excited that night because we were having dinner at Le’Cellier and Ben had never been there.

Day 3 (2 days before wedding)

The next day was what I would like to call chaos. The majority of my family was coming in and we had to get Ben a haircut, do my nails, finish getting bridal party gifts, and find my wedding shoes (yes, I got my wedding shoes 2 days before my wedding). I’m that crazy.

IMG_1270.jpg

Side note: My grandfather showed up like this insisting that he was only following strict orders from his doctor and he wouldn’t be able to wear a tuxedo. I literally just lol.

IMG_1273.jpg

We ended up having dinner at the Sushi Bar in the Kona Café.
