What a great night me and DH had last night at the NEC Arena, we weren't sure what to expect, as all we knew was that Jasper Carrott had a few guests on, but WOW!! what a great night of entertainment. J.C. did a few jokes but he mainly introduced the acts. It opened up with Bjorn Again, the Abba tribute band who were very good, and throughout the evening we listened to Lulu, Liz (ex-atomic kitten), Robert Plant, various guys from the 60's that I hadn't heard of (but the songs I recognised), Robin Gibb sang loads of Saturday Night Fever songs (brilliant), and the Birmingham Ballet put on a 15 minuted Nutcracker stint but the main highlights were Bill Bailey (from Never Mind the Buzzcocks) who was excellent, G4 (who made my night by singing Bohemian Rhapsody) and the hilarious King of the Jungle Joe Pasquale (who had me laughing with tears running down my face). There were others too but I can't remember there was so much going on.
All the guests played for free and the concert started at 7pm and went on till 11.15pm, with all the money going to charity. The tickets cost £27.50 and we were VERY well entertained, they reckoned they raised £200,000 for the charities.
It really was a great night.
