I saw this at:

http://www.intercot.com/infocentral/calendar/refurb.asp

"Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki Restaurant in World Showcase's Japan pavilion will be closed from January 15 - May 25, 2007 while the pavilion undergoes major renovations."

Anyone know what changes are taking place at that Pavilion? I love the way Japan has been set up (and love the huge store) and wonder what they are doing to change things.

Maybe a giant Pokemon to match the old giant Stich at the TTC?

It's my favorite Epcot country! I hope the store stays. I would imagine it's probably just to spruce the restaurant up a bit, and do some maintenance on the building.

I think that they will try to do something that brings you farther into the store. Most people get caught up in the first room of the store. If you go farther in, they have all sorts of neat stuff. They also have a little shop outside in a tent that sells toys. In the back, there's the John Lasseter tin-toy video and display, which is a virtual unknown, though it is interesting an fun. I also hope that they will do something for the Disney-Studio Ghibli movies like they have done for the Disney-Pixar movies. They are all great, directected by Hayao Miyazaki, and they shoul do something repesenting them in Japan besides Totoro dolls and DVDs of the movies.

What I really hope they do, in both Japan and France, is set up a room like the one in China, that has information on the Disney properties in those countries. The one in China is great, but sadly, is sort of hidden.

It's my favorite pavilion too :) Has been for years! I hope they don't do anything drastic and that this is just a maintenance boost or maybe an addition :)

I would LOVE if they did that :) I'm a huge fan of the Miyazaki movies (especially Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away, which has so much Disney type of energy and imagination!) and would be so happy to see more representation for them. I know John Lasseter is a huge fan of Miyazaki too and it seems Pixar has more influence over Disney then they used to. While I'm not in favor of seeing classic Disneyworld attractions being scrapped (or anything removed that represents the spirit and desires of Walt), I certainly would be happy seeing Miyazaki content added to the parks in some way. And the Japan pavilion would be a great start!

I am more curious about Tokyo Disneysea then any other vacation spot in the world! I would love to learn more about it and see more media. I feel like its not that well known either. Tokyo Disneyland is roughly well known, at least on par with Disneyland Paris. But Disneysea really isn't, so it would be cool to get more of a advertainment section there. For both Tokyo Disney parks :)
