January weather in the eyes of a Brit

8 weeks today I'll be happily playing around in AK.

We decided on January because
a) we couldn't wait any longer and
b) DBF has never been so we thought in the slow season we'd have more chance of getting things done

But now I keep reading about the very cold temps in January. I had researched this before we booked and it didn't seem so bad.

So my question is: how bad are the temps to the UK Disers who have been to WDW in January.

Any info would be great!

I'm trying to put together my PPP outfit - I think it should be ok weather wise but I want to be sure

If you think layers you should be fine. We went January this year and are going again next year because we liked it so much. Some days we were in shorts and some three-quarter length. The evenings did get cold so needed a jumper/jacket. Amazingly it did not rain until the day we were leaving (Feb 3rd?) and then it was solid all morning.

After dark, it can be quite brisk, but as long as it doesn't rain, January is not usually unbearably cold. The water rides, (Splash or Kali) probably aren't a good idea. Normally a jacket is necessary, but you can probably tie it around your waist during the warmest time of the day. Some people rent a locker at the parks to store a jacket and possibly gloves and scarf to wear after dark for the fireworks. Rain is rare in January.

Hello
I used this website to help me with my usual dithering over which month to go

google
weatherunderground history

it is a web site so have had to be cryptic~ but i cant post urls at on this site !!! :confused3

it is fantastic and reasured me about the time of year to go
good luck :wave2:

We were at the AKL in Jan this year and would have been booking for Jan next year if it wouldn't have been for the free dining plan Sept/Oct!!!

Weather was fabulous, we were in the pool most days with our baby daughter. Shorts and t-shirt weather most days, but as said previously it can get a little cold in the evening.

Typhoon lagoon was closed during our stay for a refurb, as were several of the restaurants, however the short and sometimes non-existant queues certainly made up for that. One evening we were in the MK during the parade time and managed to walk straight onto every ride, sometimes 2-3 times. Usually the queues would be at least an hour. That was certainly worth doing, as we had already seen the parade several times.

It didn't rain once during our 2 week stay.......fingers crossed you have the same luck. Have a fab time.

Thanks everyone, I can stop having nightmares now!

I'm planning on packing:
summer tops (I think this is just wishful thinking)
shorts
3/4 length trousers
jeans
trousers
long tops
jumpers
thin jacket

I'm not taking any winter coats as
a) they will take up luggage space
b) it is a very good excuse to buy a disney fleece!! "oh I didn't realise it would be this cold - I'll just have to buy a fleece".

This website (previously mentioned) http://www.wunderground.com/ is very good if anyone else needs it.

I've just ordered my tights for my princess outfit for the PPP - now my outfit will be complete!!
