January Thaw cruise/Eastern January 19th/vow renewal

Great pics....hope all is fine with you guys....sure do miss the ship.

Brett

Hey Brett....hard to believe that it has been 3 months since we were sailing the ocean blue!! :sad2:

We are going to start a coin jar to save for when the new ships are sailing, and try to do the Mediter. next time. That would be the bomb!!!!!! And by the time I save enough money to do it, the boys will be old enough to go...:rotfl:

I hope all your snow has melted by now.

Cheryl,
We have a coin jar started, too, for the new ship:thumbsup2 :rotfl2: . Maybe we should start a "January Thaw Cruise, Part Deux" thread:lmao: :rotfl: .

I think that would be great....and then we could have one of those threads that have 10,000 posts!!!!!!

Do you realize how big our jar is going to have to be?? We actually have an old poland springs water jar that we are filling, I am estimating that we will need at least 3.

Ok guys, I want in on this too....
How is everyone doing? Che, How goes the adoption?

We have already started our jar for the cruise on one of the new ships. I want to go....now....lol

Of course DH is such a sweetie, he claims to be all Disneyed out, but knowing how bad I am missing our DD, and Alaska is a year away till we go see her..he said we could do a short trip to WDW in December!!! Gotta love a guys who tolerates my addiction! :cloud9:

Just found & read your report.
What a beautiful vow renewal. My DH has promised me a Disney vow renewal at 10 years. This August will be 5 so we are half way there. We got married in Jamaica just the 2 of us, so this time around we hope to have family & friends involved.
Loved your scrapbook pages. I am a scrapper too!!!!!!!!!

David leaves tomorrow to go break him out!!! ;)

We want to go to Disney sooooo bad, it will be a total of 2 years before we go again at this rate, we were thinking in March 2009. The boys' birthdays are both in March, exactly 14 days apart, so we thought we would go the week inbetween.

The jar is going to be very full before these ships are built! And, if we do another Jan. thaw, it could be time for another anniversary-vow renewal.

Thanks Melanie;

We renewed our 10th in Disney...on the porch of our condo in Old Key West...we did a little private thing with 6 friends and then went to dinner in France. It was much cheeper that way, but not nearly as romantic!!!

We are all scrappers too, and it is funny to see how different all our pages came out even though we were all on the same cruise, and gave each other copies of our pictures.

Hi Cheryl,

Just found the disboards weddings and read yours from start to end! WOW!!! What a great time ya'll had!! It was beautiful too! Thanks for all the info and pics. I would like to get our Vows Renewed - cruise, WDW - it doesn't really matter to me. WDW is preferred, but don't think we can afford it. Our 25th is in September - yeah, I know late start.

A few questions-

What is a TR?

What are ginger chews and what are they for?

Where is the spa villa and is that different than the spa?

Were the people in your wedding included in the number in your party?

How many people were at your VR?

How long did your VR ceremony last?

Where did you do the cake cutting etc?

You and Dave look so happy. Here are some photos I fixed for you. If I can figure out how to upload them....

Lynne

okay well I have to figure that out

Hello Lynne, thanks for reading...and here are some answers:

At TR is a Trip report, which is what you read.

Ginger chews are these great candies that help calm your stomach. I have used them for many years, however, on the boards, Erica has used them for hangovers...something in which it never occured me to do....and it does help.

The spa villa is in the spa itself, and needs to be booked ahead of time. The pictures I posted were taken in the villa...there is the 2 person spa, the large day bed, and you have side-by-side treatments. well worth the extra money for some alone time.

The VR included enough cake and champagne for up to 10 guests, so we had to pay $10 extra for the other 10 guests. Palo was only for 2 persons, however we paid to have the others join us...with the kids staying in the kids club. We had a group of 26 persons total, which we made certain that the cruise linked us together so our dinner seating was near each other and at the same time. Also, they sent out a VR invite to each cabin of our guests...very nice. You have the room (Sessions in our case) for 1 hour, and it does just fly by. the captain stays with you for about 30 minutes, takes pictures with you. There was a piano player that played the entire time, we cut the cake and ate it, and sent the rest to the staff....although now I wish I had thought ahead and brought some tupperware to wrap it in and bring home with me....it was yummy. After we left Sessions, the photographer took us around the ship to take pictures....that took about 1 hour, and then we went to Palo for dinner....they really took great care of us.

As I said earlier in the TR...it was a trip of a life time and worth every penny we spent....I always loved the idea of a Disney wedding, and since they didn't do them 20 years ago, this was the next best thing.

Enjoy

Cheryl

Nicole, the process was pretty easy for me...especially since this was a vow renewal. However, since going on my own I have discovered this link on the disboards; there is an entire thread thing devoted to Disney Weddings info. Click there and you will find out everything and anything you ever needed to know about a Disney wedding/cruise.

As you can see by my TR, we had the best time ever, and I would say go for it, you will not be disappointed. You will get a "land" coordinator that will give you all the info ahead of time so you can pick out your flowers, music, etc. Then when you board, you get a contact Consierge person that will help with all the details on the ship. They even send out invites to anyone that is going....they are really cute.

Have fun!!! And thanks for reading.

This was an awesome trip report! DH & I are talking about doing a VR for our 15th or 20th. We are at 13 years now. Those pictures are absolutely wonderful and being a control freak, I would be running for that hammock, as well!! We have never cruised and have to try a small one to make sure DH will be able to stand the motion. Are you able to renew your vows on Castaway Cay?

Thank you for reading it....

Yes, you can renew your vows on Cast-a-way, as long as someone doesn't book it for a wedding first. It does cost more, I think about $1000 more, however, it is beautiful. There is a thread under the Weddings at Disney thread with lots of info from others who have done it, and who are about to, so head over to there.

Cheryl, I just read your whole VR TR start to finish and Amazing is all I can say. Congratulations on 20 years. My parents didn't even make it that long(17). Your TR has defanitely been an inspiration for me. Your meal at Palo looked delicious. Congratulations on your adoption of your second son Alex. Both of your boys are cutie pies(I know how rough overseas adoptions are, my dad & stepmom adopted my little brother from Guatamala, and it was a migraine and then some for them). I loved reading your entire tr. BTW you and I have a very similar pucture on St. Croix. The last picture you posted on page 2 I have a few images of that from my last cruise (we took Celebrity from San Juan) and that picture I remembered taking too.

Thank you....surprised to see my TR pop up again after all this time. I know it has been 2 years, but I can't say enough about how much fun we had and really the ease of it all. I think it was mostly because I really didn't do anything out of the norm of their package and just didn't fret. And then, once you are on board, the coordinator really does do everything to make you day the best ever, so enjoy. And yes, pulling into St. Thomas and getting the sun rising on the water is just such a wonderful thing.

Cheryl loved the pictures of you all watching The Patriots Game on the ship too. You aren't by any chance a Red Sox fan too are you? Possibly in pictures you will more than likely see pictures of 10 of us wearing Red Sox stuff:)! My dad lives in Mass, and my hubby, sister, & I all lived there for a few years. I had to to read your TR for some inspiration:)!

Not only are we Red Sox fans, we happened to have been in Disney the year they won the Penant and Curt Shilling was Grand Marshall in the MK....it was so awesome!!! We walked down main street and there were all these balloons that said Red Sox, World Champs....it was a fantastic place to be a Sox fan.

Being RI'ers, we just tag along the back of our northern neighbors!!
