Has anyone booked a January car rental yet? I'm just starting to look and can't believe the prices I'm seeing. We usually go with National (as a matter of fact we have a National in October ......full size for $153 total week) However, for our January trip we need a minivan since there will be six of us
..5 adults and our 5 year old gs........I'm getting prices over $700 (with our Emerald Club discount it comes down to $597.......that's outrageous. I guess I'd better start checking other places......anyone have any better luck elsewhere?

Are you trying to book the first week in January? The Disney slowdown comes shortly after everyone clears out after the new year.

No, actually I'm looking for 1/13 thru 1/20.....we've been there the first week in the past, however, and I've never seen rentals this high. I know MLK weekend may be slighter busier, but, usually just long weekend people not for the whole week.

I have a compact car reserved at Avis through Costco. At the moment, the rate is $199 (total) for five nights in January. I hope to get it down to $150 - $160. However, if not, I can live with that price.

Me too!

I'm looking for the last week in January and I was floored by the prices I saw! $200+ for a midsize car for 6 days! I was expecting around $125 or so.

I'm going to watch prices for a little while, but we might just move from OKW to BWV and skip the car altogether. Outrageous!

Donna,

Using the Vacation Outlet code, I see $450 for a minivan from National for your dates.

Thrifty has one for $323.

Keep your eye on Dollar. I had long ago booked a minivan for 1/20 through 1/27/07 for $383. This was using their default rate code of RCUW5 (I didn't enter any code, this was automatic). A few days ago, I checked Dollar and got a rate of $315 for the same rental. This was with an "automatic" rate code of RDUW5. Needless to say, I rebooked at the lower rate. Now, I have checked again since (why, I don't know...) and it is back to the higher amount. Bottom line, keep checking from time to time, you might catch the rate drop at the right time. Good luck.

Thanks sif......I certainly will keep an eye on Dollar.......$315 isn't too bad .....although I would prefer something in the $250 range.......matter of fact going to check it right now........
