January Member Clubhouse?

I as going to ask if anyone had received their Member Clubhouse this month until I saw this on the DVC site:

New Federal guidelines that went into effect on January 1, 2004, are requiring us to take additional steps prior to sending email communications to our Members and Guests. We are working very hard to deliver Member Clubhouse to you in the near future. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Does anyone know what guidelines are affecting the Clubhouse distribution?

THey have to be careful that everyone they are sending it to are still registered DVC owners and want the e-mail. If they send it to someone who doesn't want it or should not receive it they will get heavy fines

Thanks, I had forgotten about that since I am still getting tons of spam via email. I would think they could at least post the current Clubhouse on their website for members to access during this time.

Another example of how the Federal government is "taking care of us"! The government stops the email we want and the spam continues to flood my mailbox.

I know that several companies put the brakes on email after the law was passed. As I understand it, the law is pretty simple.

There is no penalty for sending email to someone who did not request it.

All emails must have a non-misleading subject line (No "Hi remember me" on an email selling herbal viagra).

Must have a remove option that is valid, functioning and free. This could be the trickiest part, they do have to ensure that if someone responds that they no longer wish to recieve the email that it is honored. But I would imagine that Disney has been doing this all along.

They must provide real world contact information (address and phone number. Now I looked at the December Member's Clubhouse and I did not see this, but it should be trivial to add "Member's Clubhouse is sent to you by the Disney Vacation Club [address] [phone]"

I'm sure that the real problem is that even though the changes are minor, the corporate lawyers need to triple review everything prior to releasing it.
