Just wondering if anyone out there normally goes (or has gone) in the month of January - mid January specifically, and what you can tell me about the weather?

Does it rain alot? Is it freezing:cold: ?

Has anyone flown out of the NE? I'm worried about flight delays and weather conditions, just wondering what your experiences were. TIA

Weather in Florida in January can vary from quite cold to quite warm. We were there last January and the temps were in the 70's. We've also been there in both December and February with low temps in the 30's, so it really can vary. On the plus side, it doesn't rain much at all in January.

Flight delays are always a concern when coming from the NE in the winter. Again, it's all up to Mother Nature and you really can't plan for anything specific.

Just keep your fingers crossed and have a great time!

Crowds are usually very manageable, often only short waits even in stand-by lines except for very popular rides and except for time around MLK weekend.

Weather: it can be sunny and mid-70s to low 80s. It can be cloudy and in the low to mid-60s. It can be rainy and in the 50s. It can be so cold that you wonder why you even bothered to leave NE. And then in the afternoon ...

Been many times in January and have experienced all the variables. "Average" high temp is mid 60s to 70 but it is a time of year when "average" is not the norm. I remember one week where we had rain (drizzle) and 50 for a full day, followed by two days of sunny and 78, followed by two of the coldest days we ever experienced in Florida (high 38 to 40, nightly lows of 23 to 24), followed by two days of sunny and mid-60s. That extreme cold usually has not happened. As you get closer to your date, follow the extended forecast and start preparing accordingly. Also, assume early morning and evenings will be cool regardless of high during the day.

We go every year in mid/late January and we've seen it all! We've sweltered in some years and shivered in others.

We have been 3 times in late Jan. and we absolutely love those trips. The weather is iffy.....we usually start off with jackets, ditch them for a locker around lunch and then grab them again in the evenings. However we had days that you need them all day too or don't need jackets at all....but mostly start off with them and end with them. The crowds are low low low which is wonderful too. Althought this past Jan....it was a bit more crowded but it was the way MLK and our kids' school days off fell. We only had one evening that it poured......I mean poured at EC but we usually have great Jan. weather. We fly out of Baltimore and have never had a delay due to snow. Good luck and have fun.

We have traveled in January many times. It's our favorite because of the low crowds. Sure, the weather is variable, but it's ALWAYS warmer than it is here at home in the frozen north! In all those January trips, I can only think of one day that we ever had any rain in January. It happened to also be cold that day, which didn't help. On the other hand, we have also been down in January and had temps in the 90's so no real way to tell. I'd say it is most often very average with lows in the 40-50's and highs in the 70's. The problem is that you can have a cool day in the middle of that nice weather, and it seems to ruin the trip for some. Not us though! We pack a variety of clothing and can dress for the weather at any time.

:thumbsup2 If we could go every Jan. for about 10 days.....I WOULD BE SO HAPPY. I love love love Jan. trips. I love the brisk weather and Disney....makes a nice combo in my opinion.

Yep, and sometimes we've even sweltered and shivered all in the same week, LOL. :rotfl:

Still, January is my favorite time of year to go. Not only are crowds low and weather still better than what we have here at home, but it's nice to have something to look forward to after the excitement of the holidays is over and all the decorations have come down. :goodvibes

I've been wondering the same thing about the weather. We're going the end of January and I just planned on packing a little bit of everything. We'll be checking the extended forecast before we leave.
