January Crowds

New Years day will be crowed. Also the 2nd and 3rd could be crowded if they fall on a weekend, the rest of the times the parks should be less crowed. Don't forget to take warm clothes... January can get cold.

We were there January 1st thru 7th this year, and the parks and resorts were all very crowded the first three days. Next year New Years Day falls on a Monday, so I expect more of the same; probably even worse. I've already read where LOTS of people are going to WDW the first whole week of January. Be prepared!

We were there last year Jan 27-Feb 5. The parks were empty, no real lines at all. It did rain a good part of the week. Not the summer afternoon downpour but more what I would call a fall, all day, soaking rain. That said we just put on ponchos and went anyway. We had a great time and the rain did not stop us at all. Just take some warmer clothes and a few of those plastic ponchos and you will be fine. :thumbsup2

It can get crowded, but it's nowhere near as crowded as it is in the summer. If you've ever been in the summer, then you'll probably find that it's a lot less crowded and busy.

It may be crowded during that time in January due to New Year's, and also because of the marathon.

It drops off tremendously after the 3rd. We still do big stuff, like Splash Mountain, Soarin' and Everest first thing in the morning. Last January, first week, after our ride on Splash...there was nobody waiting. They let us go through again without getting out of our seat! So, that tells you something about the crowd.

EVERYTHING was a walk-on. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven line-wise (but it was flippin cold!!! That might be why nobody showed up.)

Then there is another big drop after the English people go home, but that's more like the 10th - 12th.

The marathon really doesn't make much difference except that it ties up traffic. So, if you're in a hotel that will be affected, leave a little early. :)

We've been there early, mid, and late January in different years, and it's usually been quiet, with busier crowds on the weekends. We were also there for part of MLK weekend one year (we arrived Saturday night) and it wasn't too bad after Sunday...I think a lot of folks may not have had Monday off...we were also there this past January 28- February 4, and like Disneycrazymom said, crowds were nice and light!

We were there that week, and even with no lines we weren't about to ride Splash, Kali, or anything where you get wet. The first part of the week it wasn't warm enough out to dry off, and the rest of the week it was downright cold!

Even if you end up with summer-like crowds, crowds & Jan temps beat crowds & July temps any day!
