January 2018 booking

i am looking to book a trip in January 2018. Does any one know when those dates open up for booking?

Okay, I spoke too soon. I booked DVC in January 2018, but as far as booking regular rooms online, I'm not sure.

You can book a room-only by calling. Packages and online booking won't be available until 2018 pricing is released, probably sometime this summer.

As lanejudy posted, 2018 rates won't be released until sometime this summer, but you can book RO now by calling. Just wanted to add that if you want a package, it might be best to wait until the new rates come out. If you book RO now and change to a package later, the RO will have to be cancelled/refunded and a package booked, requiring a new deposit of $200. Since RO and packages are different reservation systems, money paid toward one cannot be applied to the other. Have fun planning and I hope you have a great trip .

Are the prices for tickets generally cheaper when booking in a package?

Buying through Disney, tickets prices are the same (at least in my experience) whether they're in a package or purchased separately. I've seen posts about people saving quite a bit through Undercover Tourist, but any time I've priced them out, the savings buying through them vs Disney was very minimal (not enough to make me buy separately).
