Friday, January 27 arrival
Sunday February 5 departure (superbowl Sunday)

We spent 9 nights and 8 full days at Disneyworld. Arrived on Friday evening Jan 27. Biggest mistake we let Magical Express bring the luggage and it did not arrive until after midnight. Biggest mistake #2 is we did not pack any pajamas in our carry ons.

Magical Express was fine. The bus did sit for awhile before leaving. I guess they were waiting for it to fill up with more guests.

We arrived at CSR. We did not receive any of our requests. I think we had requested a couple buildings in Cabanas. However, they gave us Casitas building 5 and we loved it. It was close to the restaurant, and not too far from the dig site pool which we only visited one day. Also it was close to bus stop #2.

We are Cheryl 46, husband Eric 47, and son Dustin 6. Also along was my sister Karen. Her husband could not come along so she brought a friend from work.

Below is the view from our top floor room at Casitas 5. We loved CSR. We got a rollaway bed for our son. So each of us had our own bed! Heaven!

Weather: Great! It was shorts weather almost every day, as opposed to January 2010 when we only wore shorts once I think.

Crowds: January is a great time to go. The only lines were for the very popular rides and we got fastpasses for those. There did seem to be more people in the parks than 2 years ago the same week. But it did not really affect the line times.

We flew home on Superbowl Sunday which the game was in Indianapolis which is where we were flying into. We did have some trouble with delayed flights because of all the private ones coming in to land. Once we did finally take off, we circled about 7 times before they finally allowed us to land.

Anyway, onto the trip report:

We loved the buffet at the Pepper Market. It was a counter service. It was set up in stations and we served ourselves. The servers got our drinks for us. This is my husband Eric, and our son Dustin, age 6. And yes, we pulled him out of 5 days of 1st grade. We did homework every day and kept up very well.

First day in the parks. We went to DHS. Might as well get the first biggie out of the way. I've never ridden Tower of Terror. None of us had. My sister said it was no big deal. Well, at the end of the ride, our son said "that was a bit much for me". My sentiments too. We sat out on the next ride. But my husband liked it.

s6000004.jpg
[/IMG]

Yay! We survived and Dustin and I waited in the gift shop for the other three to go again.

[/IMG]

Onto our very favorite ride: Star Tours! I bet we rode this 25 times. And once I was even the rebel spy. Darth Vader stopped our vessel and held up a picture of me. And when no one turned me in, our ride continued! We tried to ride as many times as we could so we could see every segment since every ride is different. My favorite scenes are the underwater one, and the snow one. I don't have a picture of the ride itself, but here's C3P0.

s6000016.jpg
[/IMG]

Here is my husband Eric, and our son Dustin.

s6000017.jpg

This is still our first day and we're at DHS. My apologies for this being blurry. The server was very gracious to take it for us. I'm standing by the car. Eric and Dustin are in the front seat. And my sister Karen and her friend Shirleen are in the 2nd row.

This is at Sci-Fi for lunch. I might add that we didn't have a bit of trouble getting ADR's for all 8 days. We usually eat lunch 11:00 or 11:30 and supper at 4:30 or 5:00.

s6000018.jpg
[/IMG]

This is my sister Karen on the left. Her husband could not come with us...so this is her friend Shirleen that she used to work with. Her husband didn't come down either. They stayed at CBR.

s6000019.jpg
[/IMG]

Here's my grilled chicken sandwich and fries. It was a bit dark in here.

s6000020.jpg
[/IMG]

Here's the child pizza.

s6000021.jpg
[/IMG]

These gals got a lot of mileage out of the birthday buttons they wore all week.

s6000022.jpg
[/IMG]

Here's some of the stunt show. We finally got to see it. Very entertaining and very nice weather to sit up in the stands and watch.

s6000024.jpg
[/IMG]

s6000025.jpg
[/IMG]

Now we've moved on to dinner at 50's Primetime. This is one of our favorites. And we had a fantastic server. Actually a couple of them. Lots of fun.

s6000027.jpg
[/IMG]

s6000028.jpg
[/IMG]

Here's Eric and his meatloaf.

s6000030.jpg
[/IMG]

Here's my fried chicken meal. I asked to substitute the green beans instead of greens and I specifically asked for 4 green beans! I didn't want to be hassled about not finished my beans! Also requested no gravy on the mashed potatoes. It was all great.

s6000031.jpg
[/IMG]

Here's Dustin's kid meal. I believe it's chicken nuggets.

s6000032.jpg
[/IMG]

.....and the kid sundae.

s6000033.jpg
[/IMG]

We purchased a glow cube and cup and the server surprised us with a glowing Buzz Lightyear too. The cube turns on and off and changes colors. We did not get the beverage that comes in it because our son really only likes water.

s6000034.jpg
[/IMG]

s6000037.jpg
[/IMG]

s6000038.jpg
[/IMG]

Dessert time. Shirleen and I both ordered chocolate shakes and boy were they chocolatey. We visited again before the end of the week and I learned to order a black and white so it wasn't quite so chocolately.

s6000044.jpg
[/IMG]

Here's Eric's dessert:
s6000045.jpg
[/IMG]

s6000046.jpg
[/IMG]

Aunt Karen surprised Dustin with some Disney dollars. I think he got 25 dollars worth. Thank you Aunt Karen!! He went straight out a made his first purchase on the street. Can you guess what?

s6000047.jpg

s6000049.jpg

s6000050.jpg
[/IMG]

This is what caught our 6 year old's eye:
s6000052.jpg
[/IMG]

This balloon glows just like the glow cube changing colors. We got asked to turn it off in the bus though. There's a switch on it.

s6000054.jpg
[/IMG]

Here it is in our CSR room where it floated all week.

s6000060.jpg
[/IMG]

It's day 2 and we're at CSR Pepper Market to have another wonderful breakfast. We ate almost every day at Pepper Market for breakfast except a couple days we had cereal and muffins at the grab & go, but that didn't go too well because we were starving well before lunchtime. Also one morning we ate at Crystal Palace. Next time we are doing every single breakfast at Pepper Market buffet.

s6000071.jpg
[/IMG]

I believe this dome was straight up overhead from the fountain.

s6000075.jpg
[/IMG]

I think this fountain was in front of Casitas 2 and 3.

s6000076.jpg
[/IMG]

s6000077.jpg
[/IMG]

This morning photo shows a bit of fog.

s6000080.jpg
[/IMG]

Love how the water is reflecting Casitas.

s6000081.jpg
[/IMG]

Okay it's on to Epcot.....here's the queue for Mission Space. Another first for us. We rode the green side (no spinning). Loved it!

s6000084.jpg
[/IMG]

Here we are waiting on our numbers. It's four to a mission. And we were careful to watch the preboarding instructions! We've got a mission!

s6000088.jpg
[/IMG]

First you put your carry on bag into the cabinet where Eric is reaching. Then you pull down your harness. Then the front panel comes toward you so you can reach the buttons.

s6000090.jpg

I believe this was taken near Canada.

Lunch at LeCellier. I didn't take very many pictures in here. It was dark so I needed flash and I didn't want to bother the other guests.

s6000101.jpg
[/IMG]

Here's one with no flash.

s6000102.jpg
[/IMG]

Our son found out he likes frozen virgin strawberry dacquiries so that's what he got for his beverage. (We got free dining for this trip). The servers let him get that for his beverage.

s6000103.jpg
[/IMG]

Here's Eric's dessert at Le Cellier. Sorry I completely missed taking pictures of our steaks.

Here's a quick glance at some of the caramel goodies in the caramel shop in Germany.

Day 3 - MK finally! We had 8:10 reservations for Crystal Palace. We were first in line at the park. We were able to get some great pictures when we were released to walk up the street to go to eat.

Inside Crystal Palace. We enjoyed it. As far as food goes, I thought Pepper Market's buffet was just as good and it was only a counter service credit. However here we got to see some characters and we got in the park early!

Done with breakfast, ready to ride. Walking to Haunted Mansion.

s6000162.jpg

s6000163.jpg

This is the first time we have seen the new queue area. You can bypass this queue. Here we enjoyed playing some instruments.

s6000170.jpg
[/IMG]

Dustin found these in a nearby shop in Frontierland.

s6000171.jpg
[/IMG]

Next up, lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern. This is another first for us. We loved it.

s6000174.jpg
[/IMG]

Another look at the "diamond".

s6000179.jpg
[/IMG]

Dustin's kid meal

s6000180.jpg
[/IMG]

I hesitate to even include this. I ordered the mahi mahi. The look the waitress gave me should have been my first clue. Then she said I could trade it if I didn't like it. (I didn't even ask to trade....apparently this dish gets traded a lot). When I got it I did not like it. I didn't even have to say anything. She whisked it away and brought me a turkey dinner that was fabulous!!

s6000181.jpg
[/IMG]

Eric's pot roast.

s6000182.jpg
[/IMG]

My turkey dinner and somewhere under there is dressing too. Marvelous!

s6000183.jpg
[/IMG]

Dustin's dessert:

s6000185.jpg
[/IMG]

Eric and I both had the chocolate cake. Looking back, we should have each had something different so we could try two desserts. We'll just have to go back!

s6000186.jpg
[/IMG]

The people mover....

s6000189.jpg
[/IMG]

s6000190.jpg
[/IMG]

Dinner at Tony's at MK. We were disappointed this time. Our server was terrible. The sauce on the food wasn't very good. We thought the chicken parm was better at Mama Melroses than here. Maybe we just hit it on a bad day. But this was our second try here.

s6000191.jpg
[/IMG]

The chicken parmesan. It looked fantastic, but just didn't taste very good. I think it was the sauce.

s6000193.jpg
[/IMG]

Eric's lasagna

s6000194.jpg
[/IMG]

Dustin's child meal (chicken nuggets)

s6000195.jpg
[/IMG]

Eric had the ice cream bomb for dessert. He didn't care for it.

s6000196.jpg
[/IMG]

I had the chocolate gelato

s6000197.jpg
[/IMG]

Karen and Shirleen both had the chocolate cake. I believe they said it was pretty good.

s6000198.jpg
[/IMG]

This is the view from the train depot up on the second story. You'll notice the building on the right was being refurbished. I think it was the ice cream parlor. Not sure. Getting ready to watch Wishes.

s6000201.jpg
[/IMG]

s6000203.jpg
[/IMG]

Next day, back to Epcot. Had the counter service fish and chips for lunch. They tasted pretty good, but were very greasy. Our son's tummy didn't fare too well.

s6000217.jpg
[/IMG]

s6000218.jpg
[/IMG]

s6000219.jpg
[/IMG]

s6000220.jpg
[/IMG]

Well, this afternoon we did some Kim Possible missions and our son loved them. We did half of the missions today and half another afternoon. Now we're ready for dinner at Via Napoli's. Another first for us. It was fantastic!

s6000221.jpg
[/IMG]

Eric and I both got an individual sausage pizza.

s6000225.jpg
[/IMG]

You might be able to see the size better with this picture. Individual looked like maybe a 9 inch pizza.

s6000224.jpg
[/IMG]

Here's Dustin's child pizza

s6000226.jpg
[/IMG]

Dustin's chocolate sundae....instead of a cherry, there was a blueberry in it.

s6000227.jpg
[/IMG]

My chocolate gelato with peanut brittle sticking in the top. Delicious!

s6000228.jpg
[/IMG]

This was Eric's dessert. It had some cherries in it. I'm not sure if he was too wowed by it. But we loved this restaurant and we even returned a second time before the week's end.

s6000229.jpg
[/IMG]

The next day we went to Animal Kingdom. This is our second time to visit here after a horrible visit in the raging heat in 2006. We did Expedition Everest and then the Safari and saw the Gorillas and then we left. We tried to like Animal Kingdom. It's just not a favorite. We went back to the resort to swim and I did a couple loads of laundry.

So I've lost all track of my trip report as far as what day it is...so I'm just going to start posting random photos.

Here's some caramels I got with snack credits at the caramel shop in Germany. They were okay. They might have tasted better had I actually been hungry. I also tried the fresh caramel popcorn, but because it was warm, it was sort of chewy.

CherylsiPhone247.jpg
[/IMG]

Here's the string bag we purchased. I think it was 20 dollars. My husband left it on a few rides, but thank the Lord, it always seemed to be there when we went back. Guess he's not used to carrying a bag around.

Here's our son's new shirt....had an unfortunate mishap after eating at Cosmic Rays. Our son threw up while waiting for the Monsters Inc show. He was so embarrassed. I tried my best to get him out but he made a 2nd puddle before we got out of there. I felt so bad. The cast members were more concerned about Dustin than they were about the mess. I wanted to go help clean it up, but they had me go ahead and take him out. Got him all cleaned up and purchased a new shirt and took him back to the hotel for awhile.

Here's another snack credit...love these cookies, but it was difficult to find the size for snack credit. I couldn't get the very large ones and I didn't want to get the tiniest size. So this size was the largest allowable for snack credit.

CherylsiPhone250.jpg

Here's some more photos of Mission Space. This is in line.

The monster.

CherylsiPhone117.jpg

Here we are laughing until we were almost crying....we were stuck on Carosel of Progress for the final episode at least 4 full times. That turkey just kept getting burned. It's a great big beautiful tomorrow......

CherylsiPhone118.jpg
[/IMG]

Here's some pictures of our standard room in Casitas 5 at CSR. We loved our room. Can I just add that I hate throw pillows. Every guest probably throws those tubular pillows on the floor and then every day the mousekeeper puts them right back on the clean linens. Icky. Maybe next time I should leave a note to kindly ask to leave them in the closet for the duration.
