We've got our reservations for January 3-10 and we even managed to get 'Ohana (on the third try). When I first started making ressies I was booking day by day because we had no resort reservation yet since the packages were not released yet. I booked Jan 3-8 and then everything changed.
My parents have decided to join us for the first three days of our trip and they wanted to book OKW.
We had been planning a moderate. They looked at all the resorts and decided they wanted OKW again - they had stayed there a few years ago, so figured they'd book a two bedroom villa with a lock off room and then we'd stay on after they leave in the one bedroom villa.
I called in to see about that and it was suggested since we wanted something specific like that - two room lock off converting to one for the second part of the stay we should book room only and then it would be adjusted later when the 2011 rates come out.
That was a long way of saying we were then able to book the last two days and we now have all our ressies.
Here is what we have - subject to change with my whims whenever I read dining reviews. I struggle with wanting to go back to the ones we enjoyed last time around vs trying new stuff...
Jan 3 - arrival day - Hoop De Doo 7:15 pm seating paying OOP for level 1 seating. Haven't seen this show since I was a kid.
Jan 4 - Tony's Town Square 5:50 pm - we had to cancel this in June 09 due to illness.
Jan 5 - Les Chefs de France 6 pm - DDad really wanted either this or Tutto Italia and we had done Italy in '09.
Jan 6 - Boma 6 pm - now it's just DH, the kids and I and DH loved Boma last time.
Jan 7 - Garden Grill 5:55 pm - this may change; we enjoyed it last time and it's one of only two character meals we have booked but I'd also like to try Teppan Edo AND I thought about the Princess dinner at Akershus but DD is kind of losing interest in princesses, so not sure yet.
Jan 8 - 50's Prime Time Cafe 5:55pm - new for us and really excited to try it.
Jan 9 - 'Ohana 8:05 pm - we loved 'Ohana last time and wanted it again. I had tried for a little earlier so we could go the the Poly beach for fireworks after but this was the only time available. The first two times I had called there were NO reservations available at any time between 6 and 9pm. I've read that people are having a hard time getting anything here but keep trying.
Jan 10 - Tusker House 10:05 am and Yak & Yeti 4:45 pm - the kids really like Tusker House last time and we still had one more ADR since we are paying OOP for HDDR so we added Y&Y which is new for us. Hopefully DH can handle the full day at AK - either that or he'll have to leave and come back later.
Now I'm REALLY excited with dining booked, although with the change back to 180 days it still seems a long way away. Reading dining reviews for the next five months may be dangerous.
We also have a first portion of our trip in the Sarasota area; we're spending Christmas with my parents there. We've never done that before, nor have my parents ever gone down before January, so this will be very different from our white Christmases.
I know we'd like to take the kids to Busch Gardens and while up there hit The Cheesecake Factory - never been there, and we also love Carrabas and Bonefish, so those will be must do's while on the Gulf, but does anyone have any other great recommendations in that area for the week between Xmas and New Years?
