January 19, 2014 Disney Wonder 5 Night Western Carribean Cruise

We will be staying at Boardwalk Villas. I've already made dinner reservations for Ohana on Friday night and 1900 Park Fare for Saturday night. I might have to change the Ohana reservations because we will be spending the day at Legoland and am not sure if we will be able to get to the resort by our 7:00pm reservations.

Awesome news, congrats! :cool1:

I wouldn't mind driving. But DH is a truck driver...actually a milk man...haha...so when I say my kids look like the milkman...They Really Do! :rotfl: So anyway. I hate to make him drive on vacay when he has to all the time. I would drive...but he would have a cornary by time we arrived in Miami :confused3

As far as Altoona...we are 25 miles away. We are there a few times a month with Doctors appts and shopping and such. I actually do some side photography and headed there this weekend to shoot a reception.

I "ran" :crazy2: my first and last 5k in Pittsburgh last year as part of a relay team for the Pittsburgh Marathon. It was a great time and experience though. I actually thought about signing all four of us up for the Steeler 5k for a couple years....but resistance is strong in the lineman of my house..haha.

I can understand your DH not wanting to make that long drive to Miami when he spends his work days driving!

My lineman doesn't run either which is perfect for me because that means I get to run while he watches the kids! He'll do a fun walk with the kids but can't keep up with me even when I walk :). I am just trying to figure out how to get to Pittsburgh in time for the race :/. DS won't get out of school until 3:45 but it's the Friday before Labor Day so traffic is going to be crazy. We would have to leave at 3:00 am if we waited to drive up Sat morning.

JUST starting to catch up on the posts DW and I live in Edgewood (I work in Balt. she in Reisterstown) and both are dedicated Disney cruiser. We are doing back to backs 15th/19th which will be #'s 9 and 10. And #11 will be the September 2014 Panama Canal cruise.

Maybe a Marylander's get together party prior to the cruise?

I love the idea of a Maryland get together before the cruise although with school and fall sports starting, we are crazy busy. Did you have a good place in mind to meet?

No I haven't gone that far with planning. I would think we should wait at least a bit and see if any others are interested and then plan from there. There are plenty of places in central locations; Annapolis and I would suggest Macaroni Grill, same or similar for Columbia, Arundel Mills also has potential. If anyone less central was interested I could suggest Bowie; Outback or Grace's (locals know where i am talking about).

But hey...I am easy...not cheap...:rolleyes1

let's make this an open call for any Marylanders who are interested and give atentative date from mid to late October.

Hey, guys.

I just saw this on Dreams Unlimited's facebook page:

Disney Cruise Line has just announced that they are cancelling cruises on the Wonder 1/19/2014 and 1/24/2014 due to unplanned maintenance. Our Dreams agents will be contacting our clients to make arrangements for other dates.

I'm not on your cruise, but wanted to give you a heads up. This happened to me a few years ago and I read it on here before DCL got around to notifying me.

So sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Hopefully y'all are able to rebook without too much pain. :sad1:

We just got our email from DCL. 25% discount on a future cruise if sailing by 1/19/2015 and they'll cover flight change fees.

Apparently there was some sort of generator fire on a recent Alaska cruise? So the Wonder is having to come in to Norfolk for emergency repairs, and while they are at it they will do their hull inspection which was due in September 2014.

This was to be our first DCL cruise! I guess it will have to wait!

This is not good news :(

If there was a fire they should fix it before 4 months from now...

I am sick over the cancelled cruise. We booked our first Disney Cruise for the January 19th sailing. We are coming from Canada and have non refundable flights booked already. We have rebooked for February 2nd, but the cost to change our flights is ridiculous. With the 25% discount to rebook, this is where we stand.

Original Cruise Rebooked Cruise

Cruise Amount $2,653.68 $2,101.18

Onboard Credit -$200.00 -$125.00

Flight amount $2,194.00 $3,056.00

Change Fees $904.00

TOTAL $4,647.68 $5,832.18

I am just sick over this. Just sick. Our once in a lifetime family vacation that we've been saving for has just gone up in price by $1200. We just can't afford that. And if we cancel all together we lose $2200 from our non-refundable flight. I can't believe this...it's turned into a nightmare.

The email said something about flights at the bottom. Maybe DCL will help with the change costs? I'm so sorry :(

Thanks. I called Disney and they said I had to submit to the email address. I have submitted to the email address but my travel agent has indicated that there is usually a $150 per person cap on change fee refunds and that the increase in price of a flight since you booked is never covered. I"m trying to wait patiently for a response...

I submitted my request as well and I'm soooooooo hoping they come through with some kind of compensation. Even with the 25% it's still going to end up costing me so much more. I'm rebooked to the 2/2 cruise with the same itinerary. But I've now lost my room and dining requests that were locked in for this cruise :( I'm just trying my best to stay optimistic. But this isn't the best first experience with DCL.

Call and ask them to change your dining for you. My Travel Agent told me that the main dining was full and I was on the wait list. I called Disney and they bumped me to early dining right away. They are apparently giving priority to anyone who was bumped.

Let me know when you hear back from Disney re. flight compensation. I'm in the same boat and have felt sick all weekend not knowing what's going to happen with this...

I tried this and was told no. There is nothing they can do except we just have to wait and see. :headache:
I have never been on a cruise before and I am a huge Disney person but this is leaving me with a sour taste in my mouth. I'm so disappointed.

We got our email about the cancellation as well. Trying to figure out new cruise dates as we speak. I think we're jumping ship and booking one on the Disney Dream now because we still want to travel in January '14 vs staying on the Wonder and cruising later in the year. Hoping to get this all settled soon! Sorry to all the others who are in the same cancelled boat as we are! :)

That is crappy. I'd try again. A different person on the phone may get you different results?
