January 1 crowds

We will be flying in on New Years Day, and heading to AK that afternoon. Flight lands at noon, and we are staying at AKL, so fairly close
What can we expect in terms of crowds that afternoon? Our plan is to jump in line for FOP right at closing. All other trips have been during a slower season. Any tips to maximize our day are welcome! Thanks!

Travel party is 2 adults and 2 kids ages 10 and 12. They love all the thrill rides. We can skip the shows and Safari this time. We have been on FOP and loved it, but never tried Navi.

I would expect crowds to still be really high. I haven't been then, but will be experiencing it for the first time this year. I'm thinking people will sleep in a bit so the morning will be less crowded, but it seems unlikely the masses that were there the night before will all be gone the next day. I would definitely have fast passes for the day to help cut down on wait times.
